  1. Toto fan here and WOW! An African thunderstorm recreated with their hands and feet. Amazing!! I was always partial to the song Roseanna. I was desperately trying to go out with a girl by the same name when that song came out.
  2. After exploring that site a little...... $22 for a Daiwa or Shimano 2009 catalog!! and it's in Japanese!!! ;D
  3. You won't be bottom fishing in the Gulf anytime soon.
  4. You're right there Frank. The mag brake worked wonders on that Silver max as compared to either an SX or STX. Those plastic reels will cast a country mile with ease, even smaller baits.
  5. I've heard of guys running down lake, have a small piece of driftwood lodge into the motor just the right way and almost wipe out from that as the wheel got jerked out of their hands.
  6. You already answered your question on the glass vs aluminum comparison. Given the time frame of your purchase, I'd suggest taking rides in as many models as you can. That's always been the best way to make an informed decision on what boat will be best for you.

  8. I used a couple Silver Max's for awhile. They cast great and have a Revo like feel on the rod. They also seemed to get noisy from time to time, as though things didn't mesh up everytime you re-engaged after a cast. I'm sure it was due to the plastic frame and tolerances that weren't spot on. They also didn't feel Revo solid when fighting a fish back. I'd go with a Revo S rather than the Pro max. It's only an additional $20-30 more and honestly those reels are pretty rock solid.
  9. If it's just some old junk engine then who cares right? If it's newer, why would you put cheap junk plugs in it?
  10. Absolutely. As long as they're no more than a couple days old. I'm much more interested in water levels, surface temps and water clarity than I am in what supposedly the fish are biting on.
  11. Should fit like a glove. I've actually swapped the entire main crankshaft, drag stack, main gear, pinion gear, star drag and handle from a Revo into a Patriarch and it worked great. Due to the difference in handles, the flooger type vs the standard Revo reel nut, the star drag sat a little weird on the Patriarch but you got Revo drag poundage from the Patriarch.
  12. I have one medalist. Personally, get a President instead. Better reel.
  13. Burley mentioned to me that Scotts Gambler was one of the finest, most stable peeing platforms he's ever been on. Take that to the bank.
  14. Geezo. Nice fish!! and you're not even sweating!! ;D
  15. A little trick I use in heavy grass with snake tail worms is to really douse the tail with some sort of fish attractant that's oil based. Doesn't really matter which one, just one that adheres to the tail and allows it to slide through the grass easier without sticking. Apply frequently.
  16. Yammies also prefer NGK's. I believe it's a hotter spark IIRC. You can get them many places including on-line. They're not any more expensive than quality plugs made by AC or Autolite.
  17. IF that was my boat and everything was legit I could pull it up the street to the Wal-mart parking lot and have it sold in 30 minutes or less at that price. and why the third party payment method? You mean if I wanted to walk up, hand him $5500 dollars cash in exhange for the boat and CLEAN titles he wouldn't be interested? RED FLAGS!!!
  18. Todays graph's are amazing aren't they. You can watch your bait on the graph and put it right in their face. BTW, I use both hopkins and BPS/Hopkins knockoffs.
  19. Weekend before last I was throwing the 7" and didn't have a problem. I was using a Gammie EWG 3/0. Caught about 3-4 fish on them plus threw them for around 2 hours total. Used a total of 2. Tail didn't come off of either one. What hooks are you using?
  20. When it comes to replica's, it's all about the painting and finish. One man's art is another man's eyesore. Check out several taxidermists, view their work. Choose the one whose work impresses you the most.
  21. Deep water fish are far more reliable, day in and out vs. those that hang in the shallows all year. They are usually un-effected by changing weather conditions and have definite bite patterns. I don't know how things work in TX but up in Missouri the summer deep bite is very related to the thermocline in a given lake. Find out the thermocline depth and then fish structure at that depth. On large reservoirs, asking local bait and tackle stores will usually get you that depth, on smaller you'll have to find it by turning your graph's sensitivity way up. Check the instruction manual, most have a small section that describes how you can detect it.
  22. I was in BPS today. Didn't see any Viento's though I wasn't really looking.. I guess the twitching bar was the only thing that set that reel apart from the others.
  23. Home made and Hand cranked. I always liked the use of goats milk. Really gave the ice cream a really rich flavor.
  24. So you're still waiting for us to tell you whether a BPS boat sales manager will haggle or not? Nobody here has any idea how desperate or not that manager is to move some aluminum and fiberglass off the lot. The only way you'll know is to ask and get the guy to work with you.
