  1. Those soft covers are about the only thing you'll be able to find for under $400. I've been looking for a used cap for my 6 1/2 foot F150. New are completely out of the question. Even those clamshells are outrageous.
  2. These reels will spoil you. They can be fine tuned for thumbs free casting regardless of what lure you're throwing. And yes, the ergonomics and feel of the reel are as smooth as a baby's bottom.
  3. I'm definitely going to have to get at least one. Step one, strip the reel down and see if the main shaft and drag assemblies are interchangable with the old patriarchs. It's much closer to an STX than a JM. While the dual braking system on the 2 reels (STX & Patriarch) is very close the crank side mech is different. As DG said, the JM reels are also noticeably larger in size and heavier.
  4. A couple pile drivers to the carpet normally subdues most wrigglies, the persistant ones that just don't know when to quit get a sleeper hold put on them until they're docile as a lamb. They always beg for a bath in Please Release Me when I'm done with them.
  5. He's your size? That changes everything. How much does your average aquarium guppy weigh? wouldn't that totally suck to be on the 5 th annual roadtrip and come out the first morning to find your trailer on blocks and your wheels hanging 30 ft up in the trees? Keep 'em coming :-* Planning on enlisting the help of some tall friends to help you with the high places? :running/:
  6. I thought Mariah Carey's mourning dress was particularly appropriate. You can see the grief pouring out of her.
  7. A 1 year old battery is no reason to not suspect it. I've had batteries fail after just a few months.

  9. Original lunker lure here. Why change when the original still outfishes the rest.
  10. Close off all water inlets and outlets to the livewell system and then fill up the livewell. That should give you an idea if you've got a fitting loose or hose broke.
  11. Each to their own. If you plant that 260lbs of water on the front of the boat you won't be happy. You'll completely lose bow lift and then you'll be slapping waves, HARD. Besides the rough ride you'll have water sloshing over the top of the LW and running all over the place. Been there, done that. That's why bass boats built in the past 20 years no longer have front livewells. Just what are you planning to put in the livewell that the back well won't handle? Looks plenty wide and deep to me given the size of the boat.
  12. In 7 years, that $60,000 Z-9 today will be worth $15,000. I think I'd start by concentrating on your studies and making sure you're grades are such that your parents will be more than proud to buy you a boat. Like how about graduating magna cum laude or better?
  13. Do you need help selecting a new set of tyres?

  15. I see a big opportunity for a rod box on that boat. 1. Exnay that front storage compartment. Silly place for it anyway, right under you feet. Cover the front deck with 1/2" treated ply and recarpet. If you want storage, cut 2 smaller compartments on either side. 2. Now that you're not worried about saving that front storage, consider a center rod storage. Since you're extending the deck back to the console fronts the center section is the rod box. You'll have to get the sawzal out and cut a hole in the front deck riser along with cutting out the bottom of the old storage area you're not using anymore. Definitely put a trim piece around the opening you cut so you don't wind up with rod damage. 3. If you wanted to, you could put the livewell on either side of the rod box but personally, I don't care for front livewells. They add excessive weight up front which holds the nose down and can make for a rough ride. Those McFasts weren't the smoothest running things in the first place. They can also tend to spill water all over the place if you're running in rough water. How about the Livewell between the driver/pass seat?
  16. 2 in a row bad? I'd start suspecting the battery at this point.
  17. I think I see a cavity coming in on that one upper molar.
  18. Good golly moses Dan!!! ;D
  19. Step into a slim jim.
  20. :yelling from the balcony: I'll say 5ish to 5 1/4 ish :/yelling from the balcony:
  21. Yep. If he'd have just fully extended his arms straight out I couldn't tell the difference.
  22. This is how I do it. Keep it simple and you'll spend less time searching when you're on the lake fishing and need that one bait for that one situation.
  23. That's what I was wondering. The agreement I saw on the Tenn. interactive fishing guide stated that a valid Tennessee freshwater fishing license got you the ability to fish all of the waters on Pickwick within the agreement. Then it states that this is open to residents of any of the 3 states. It doesn't mention whether the same agreement covers non-residents of the 3 states.

I started noticing that garlic scented soft plastics were held onto much longer by bass than those non-garlic given the same type of bait and color. I've never bought into the theory that scent alone was responsible for triggering strikes nor could it somehow spark a feeding frenzy if you soaked your line in it so the scent would disperse into the water as you were retrieving the lure.
