  1. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/boa/1262633170.html Here's a 20 footer I've been pondering. If I hadn't just sunk a bunch of money into rehabbing my boat this is definitely one I'd be looking at. The 201's may have been the best riding 20 footers of all time. Certainly the best all around handling.
  2. I have a couple Revo S reels, if that's the latest President by Pflueger the centrifugal braking system is better than what's on the S. Better made anyway.
  3. Flooger reel guy with a couple Garcia's thrown in. All Star rods all the way.
  4. A Skeeter of that era? The wood in the transom, stringers and floors are immediately suspect.
  5. Nothing, I've been using them for years with great success. I also happen to have Gammies as well. I've never found myself choosing the gammies over the EC's if I had the choice.
  6. I would say no to the 18 and a half foot champion. I don't think any 18 1/2 foot cookie cutter boat is going to ride as good as a 20 1/2 foot boat. Depends on the driver... remember.
  7. I'd suggest SAS style seats for anybody with back issues. they are expensive but well worth it after a bouncy ride down the lake.
  8. You need a Champion then. Keep your eye open for mid 90's 201's or late 90's 203's.
  9. Interesting. The ad and the way he's displaying the lures looks like the same guy I bought about 3 from last winter. He was removed from ebay as a seller. I have 3 of them. If they're not LC's you sure can't tell. I used them a couple times and they work like new. They were not in Tokyo Japan though. Notice the "we do not combine items on shipping" That's a red flag. You could ship 4-5 LC slender pointers for the same price as a single.
  10. Warning Pflueger Patriarchs are junk. Anyone buying them should stop now. I'm serious here, they are trash. Now that I've done my duty and stopped those who wanted to buy one I need to let those who have them know I'll buy up some of those reels now, at around 10 cents on the dollar, just to get the trash off your rod. PM me with what you've got and I'll be happy to degrade the reel even more and offer you even less that what that low life, piece of shiny aluminum is worth.
  11. Get out and start taking test drives in the boats that are interesting to you. What anyone else thinks is a great riding boat or great fishing platform may not be for you. Ride and decide.
  12. He's still young and lacking the right amount of bitterness that seasons all the greats.
  13. I thought this was a PM. Ooops! ;D

I suppose the same can be said about any fishing equipment that carries a high price tag (relative to other products in the same category). Whether the high price is due to perceived quality or else popularity due to recognition from a tournament win or pro's endorsement, the question is still the same. Is this product really that much better to justify spending X amount more money than a similar product costing much less.
  15. Nice fish. Are we supposed to guess the weight? BTW, what's with the dried up nightcrawlers on the floor of the boat?
  16. I've owned S reels (still do), SC, SX and STX. Of all of those, the SX were the most finicky for casting. They literally had one sweet spot on them depending on the lure and if you were off, it was backlash or line loop city. Totally unforgiving reel.
  17. That switch with Charge on it was the old 12v-Charge-24v switch they used back in the days of 12/24 volt TM's. It was sort of a redundant switch as most 12/24 volt TM's had switches on the foot pedals. Obviously, the 12 and 24 positions were for operation of the TM at those 2 different voltages, the Charge position disconnected the 2 batteries for the charging operation. Just guessing, those bow electrical plates usually had a trim switch on them and an aerator switch. There might also be a switch for the nav lights.
  18. MLB should thank St Louis for letting them hold their game in our city.
  19. OMC didn't look too bad towards the end either. Too many overlapping boat companies and exploding FICHTS did them in.
  20. exactly. I can't remember the last time any sports figure walked away from an endorsement deal and made comments of the tone Boyd did here. Not exactly the kind of thing any future sponsor would want to hear and the kind of thing that could bring legal repercussions from E21. He could've walked away quietly, he chose to let folks know his reasons. I suspect his words were chosen wisely. I actually think the opposite would be true. Imagine if Boyd started using Lamiglas rods. People now think that Boyd is more about integrity, principle and quality, therefore people might think that Lamiglas must be good a good if Boyd is using it. I think this could work in Boyd's favor as well as in the favor of any potential sponsor (I am hoping G Loomis picks him up) Generally, if a pro(regardless of sport) walks from a product, even if he doesn't like it anymore, it's not standard practice to begin spilling the dirt so to speak, like he did here. That often gets said pro into trouble signing with the next sponsor. I have no problem with it. His move was sudden and it's obvious there are problems at E21. I'm sure he's wanting to distance himself.
  21. Have you tried contacting Eagle/Lowrance? It would not surprise me, given the initial low cost of the unit, that parts aren't available for it or only limited parts are.

  23. No real manuals were ever available. Those that came with a boat were general type of stuff; safe boating, trailering, etc. I'm afraid you'll have to start flipping switches and looking for or listening to whatever turns on. That or another 370 series owner can post what the switch layout is.
  24. There will be a number of boating members down there with backseats available during the week. The pairing up of non-boaters with boaters happens at the dinners the night before. There will be a boat seat for you, don't let that stop you from coming.
  25. Jerk Worm That's the one.
