How many fish can you get out of a Rage anaconda?
Much like any soft plastic, the use of a lighter wire hook will extend the life of the bait greatly.

Why would a bait manufacturer screw up a good bait?
Remember when Rapala bought out Storm and changed the Wiggle Wart from a one piece mold to a 1 piece with the lexan bills? It was like "New Coke" old Coke. What were they thinking. They eventually caved in when nobody bought the junk new baits and went back to the storm molds. Original Storm Wiggle Warts are expensive, just like the Bagleys you're bidding against the collectors as well as original Wiggle wart junkies. I've spent upwards of $25 for a single SV/SP special color wiggle wart. crazy.

Potential Record-Tying bass "May" be invalid
This would seem to be a different story then. I can't see where a possible world record submission would be bound by the laws of a fishing tournament unless the tournament rules mimicked state or national laws. If in fact this was a "tournament only" off limits area but perfectly legal for anyone else to fish, I'd have to think the catch should stand unless there are some other irregularities. That is unless the IGFA has a rule otherwise. Can't imagine that though.

Trolling motor cable question
There is normally a tension adjustment somewhere on the foot pedal. It's usually a screw type device that protrudes out towards the bottom of the pedal. Often at the front of the pedal.

Potential Record-Tying bass "May" be invalid
Not really much different than Dottie being snagged and not caught by a hook within the mouth. Rules are rules.

Missed the money by 2 oz.
Your dink master status is now officially over. You've moved to the next level. Weighing in a sack in any Tournament that puts you that close to the top elevates you to >dinkmaster. Nice job.

Buzzbait blade color
Red, purple, green, pink.... it really doesn't matter. Buzzbaits are reaction baits and the fish is keying on the noise the blade is creating. At best, it might see the skirt color.

CARROT STIX
I noticed the site was running a little slower earlier this afternoon. I now see why. The spell check feature probably overloaded the server when he was typing his post.

CARROT STIX
Bwaa haha... no kidding! Go to the fishing resume board and everyone preaches good grammar and communication skills to land a sponsor. Then this guy shows up (if he's actually for real which is questionable) and not only can't spell but can't punctuate or create coherent sentences.

Fort Leonard Wood, MO
The Big Piney and Little Piney river are great places and they go through the base at a couple spots. The Gasconade river is a little further away but is also good. Here's a link to the Mo. Dept of Conservation Atlas page that allows you to search by name, county or region. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/applications/moatlas/AreaList.aspx?txtUserID=guest&txtAreaNm=s

They killed my Pond!!!!! Heartbroken in OKC
This isn't just a phenomena in smaller ponds. The ocean also suffers from similar events often known as "Red Tides". Can be very devastating. Those interested in fishing along the coasts, particularly in late summer/early fall need to keep an eye on Red tide alerts in areas they plan to fish.

Underwater Cameras Worth it? Or is it cheating
FYI, not sure how your lake works but Lake of the Ozarks probably has 200,000 docks. Scoping out each one would be impossible. The fastest way to find planted brush is with the eyes. If you observe Fishing rods in holders on the dock or just rod holders Lights pointed down into the water A fish cleaning table A bass boat, aluminum fishing boat or any kind or a party barge in the slips add a one or a combination of the above and you've got brush. You can quickly cruise through a cove and isolate docks to further explore with your graph.

HELP!!!!! trolling motor foot pedal cable went slack
Pull the TM head off (only 4 screws. There's a gearing system in there with both cables terminating at a metal bracket. If that's OK, check the foot pedal by taking the bottom plate off. If everythings OK there you've broken a cable.

Shocking a lake Question
Brad, here's the conservation departments own fishing prospectus for this season. These are derived from either the previous spring or fall from electro-shocking or from angler surveys. This 210-acre lake is located on Bismarck Conservation Area in St. Francois County. Largemouth bass are abundant and average 8 -15". However, larger fish are becoming more common. A 12-15" slot-length limit is in effect. Anglers should consider keeping bass <12" in order to improve the average size of bass. Bluegill and redear sunfish will average 5-7". The larger fish will spawn along the shoreline in stands of lotus from April through June. Many of these beds go unnoticed by sunfish anglers. Channel catfish are abundant, with most fish in the 10-17" range. The number of black crappie are fair, but they should average 7-10", with an occasional large (>12") fish taken. Crappie are most often taken in the main lake channel in early spring and fall by drifting or trolling minnows and jigs. The lake has an abundance of aquatic vegetation that can hinder bank angling during the summer months, but herbicide treatments are made to improve access. A paved boat ramp, a courtesy dock for boats, and a paved fishing jetty provide conveniences for anglers fishing the lake. http://www.mdc.mo.gov/fish/prospects/?m=13#a19 BTW, one of the lakes I think has the SR potential is listed on that prospectus. The other isn't.

Shocking a lake Question
If I was going to choose a lake in Missouri that the next state record would come from, Bismark wouldn't be on that list. I'd suggest going to the conservation site, pulling up Di Salvo lake and finding the contact person who manages the site and put that obvious "rumor" of the 16lb fish to rest. I've fished that lake a few times and it does have a few nice fish in it but I've never heard of anyone catching anything out of there even remotely approaching 10lbs let alone anything larger. There are a couple lakes in the state that I really believe the next potential SR could come from, both are in the SE end of the state but farther south from Bismark. BTW, I haven't fished it in a few years but that lake was becoming so loaded with Milfoil that navigating the lake from a boat was getting tough.

How deep is this quote?
If CA detached off the left side of this continent and drifted off into the Pacific, would anyone care?

They killed my Pond!!!!! Heartbroken in OKC
Looks like an algae bloom. Given the heat your area has been experiencing it's not uncommon, especially on smaller ponds.

what the heck is boron?
Yep. I recall BPS was selling a boron rod in the mid eighties, somebody else was too. Never caught on.

Pete Rose
I used to despise the guy. I did because he wasn't on my team. The guy played the game with passion and had talent to back up the passion. As for the gambling? I'm with muddy, he bet on his own team to win. Big difference IMO. Let him in.

Mounting Bow Trolling Motor on V-Hull
I sold this aluminum boat I had a couple months ago but here's the little deck extension I had for it. IIRC, it was 1/2" ply I coated with helmsman urethane and then carpeted. I had some 2x4 framing underneath to prevent flex. The deck actually extended out over the gunwale lip.

That's all we need. Open up a bag of soft plastics and you start crying.

Summer Fishing Hiatus -- who takes them?
Normally I kinda of slack off during the summer but next month I have 3 tourney's scheduled. I usually prefer going at night.
