  1. Unfortunately, getting a rig set up for running in shallow rivers with a jet drive will put you at a ride disadvantage if you decide to go to a lake. There are a few places here in Missouri that specialize in building custom river boats that will run in inches of water on this states Ozark rivers but I wouldn't want to take that same boat to a lake, at least not one that had even a little chop on the water.
  2. Have a great one!!
  3. If that's a typical open bow ski boat, those sit higher out of the water than a typical bass boat. That means the boat becomes a sail in the wind. I tried a 55lb 12v on my 18 1/2 Champion for a couple years. Then I switched out to a 65lb 24 volt. There's just no comparison. With just the 10 lbs extra the difference is night and day, especially in the wind. I've noticed no extra battery consumption between the 2. I'd definitely go with the 70lb, 24v.
  4. A couple things. My Yammie used to do something similar. The culprit was the fuel line connector fitting right at the engine. I took it off and ran the fuel line through the hole the fitting used to be in in the cowling and straight to the fuel filter inside. No, I can no longer pull the fuel line and let the engine run the carbs out of gas but that's never been a problem. One last thing, the fuel line attaches straight to the fitting on the gas tank and has a hose type clamp right? It's not a snap on fuel connector that allows you to take the line on and off?
  5. Pricing used equipment is completely determined by what the market will bear. I was selling used Curado B's a few years ago for almost retail price back when the D version Curado came out. Rods are tough because of the shipping charges. You'll wind up paying $5 for a PVC tube if you don't have one and charges for 7' rods pushes you into the surcharge rates due to the length. I'd try Craigslist first.
  6. : Looks more like an observant fishermen who saw what he needed to see to key on the fish. He further narrowed the better areas by trial and error
  7. Pro Control here. Great TM tray.
  8. I was about to doze off last night and I vaguely remember I was in the boat fishing when my partner in the back of the boat, Jennifer Aniston asked me to pick a rod out for her. I don't remember what was playing on the radio nor do I care.
  9. Technically, if you use the definition of structure as given by this site. Changes in the shape of the bottom of lakes, rivers, or impoundments, especially those that influence fish behavior. This is probably the most misunderstood word in bass fishing. Structure is a feature on the bottom of the lake. Some examples of structure are creeks, humps, depressions, sandbars, roadbeds, ledges, and drop-offs. Some examples that are not structure: a stump, tree, or brush pile (these are cover). Hackney technically wasn't fishing a different structure than anyone else but rather a change in bottom composition that was causing the better fish to locate to that position to take advantage of the smaller bait fish that were feeding on a mayfly hatch. It's possible that the hard bottom related to more trees along shore that the mayflys were hatching from but I don't think that I'd call this a tournament win due to structure fishing. Obviously, location was the key but that's true regardless of any lake, stream or river you fish in. In virtually any tournament, the winner almost always comes across a place or places (location) where there are more fish and more larger fish than other places.

I've quit using the rage shad primarily due to way too many short strikes and few fish actually taking the bait. At best the tail gets ripped. I'm going to try another application for them as a sub surface bait and see what happens.
  11. You can't start refining your lure presentation until you've located the fish. Whether they are on structure or not, finding the fish is the key. Buck Perry did it by dragging spoon plugs around following breaklines at different depths till he caught one. After he caught one he stopped and fished the area more thoroughly with different lures until he found the bait that worked best. If nothing else bit, he moved on. Of course, had Perry been on a lake that had little bottom structure but lots of cover in shallow water and the fish were located in that shallow cover, he'd probably not have much luck dragging a spoon plug around. I'd be far more interested in the thinking processes Hackney used to come upon those areas vs his lure selection and presentation afterwards.
  12. Adam Sandler sucks. Sorry, I had to say it.
  13. Kelley, it's about time you joined us in the 21st century and had electricity run to your house. I'm suspecting your windmill is giving out.
  14. Have plenty of beer on hand.
  15. I'd make sure your dad has that motor trimmed in all the way when he's taking off. A 175 with a 4 blade 24p should have no problem launching that boat out of the hole and fairly quickly too.
  16. Friday usually finds many guys on their way back home early. Some of us that live closer will stay and fish but it's the minority. I'd suggest staying Mon-Thurs. You've got evening meals already set up for Mon-Wed. You're only concerns are Breakfast and lunch those days which can be done cheap and your dinner on Thursday night. Bunk up in a cabin with a couple others and you're talking a very cheap 4-5 day fishing trip.
  17. A specific good spot is generally a location on a lake that holds fish that's often overlooked by a majority of anglers. Those I will rarely disclose unless to close friends. A more general "spot", like a whole lake or and area on a pond or lake, I'm a little more generous though I wouldn't disclose it over an open forum like this.
  18. Absolutely. If you're around the older fella's just be congenial despite the odors.
  19. Another guy on the forum, dink, has a 9.9 2 year old Yammie pushing his 14 ft, that's set up like yours and it scoots along pretty good. Where are the batteries located at?
  20. Yea thank you very much I have faith that I'll get in. I am oked to go by my women so thats a plus lol. I will worry about it in the new year. So put me down on the list then ok. thanx There's plenty of ways to save money and make the trip affordable. Mike is demonstrating a great example by rooming with RW. With all those older guys in one room, I'm sure they'll get a group discount rate on geriatric nurse services. :running:
  21. Vanilla with chocolate/rasberry chunk. Baskin Robbins had that flavor once, can't remember the name.
  22. Best Buy is another place to watch your receipts. One scam is for the cashier to add those magazine subscriptions to your bill whether you want them or not. They're under pressure to sell a X amount of them each month so some will cave-in and take the dishonest route to fulfill their quota. Scam 2 usually happens during the holiday post season. Cashiers will ring up a sale that includes a combination payment of gift card and cash or credit card for the amount the buyer is spending in cash and or credit card alone by punching in a at register discount or they'll delete some items so the amount matches that cash/credit amount. They void the gift card scan and then pocket the gift card selling it on Ebay later.
  23. As long as the diameter is correct the hosing you have is fine. Most any sort of hosing you can find at HD or Lowes will work.
  24. The physical scars the fish will suffer from are short term and won't hurt it. What I would fear is the long term emotional damage.
