  1. I think cart is wondering why the Japanese lawmakers would be so against having that bass become the world record. It doesnt make sense to me either. Is a bass a trash fish over there? Exactly. There's a couple Japanese on the BASS tour. The tackle industry is pretty big there. Makes no sense. I wonder just what fish is over there that they're afraid the LM are threatening?
  2. Mike Deb has been searching Ebay for a gas mask .... seems she is concerned about flatulation Depending on how much cheese Brian brings down next year, we'll all probably be blocked up most of the week.
  3. I don't seem to understand this Japanese anti-LM bass thing that's going on over there. Can anybody explain that?
  4. Actually, the other thread would've been the perfect place for your post. this is just duplication.
  5. You're spraying the entire top of the boat with truck bedliner? :-?
  6. If you're interested in scoring against the locals these are the best solutions. They're still not a guarantee for success though. 1. Choose a lake and become familiar with it. Really familiar and I don't just mean having some spots. You've got to learn how the fish react to changes in weather/water conditions, the forage base and what the fish are feeding on from season to season, typical fish locations in the lake and how the fish utilize that structure from season to season, etc. etc. That's the biggest advantage the locals have over the weekend warriors. 2. If your on the water time between tournaments is limited, pick tournaments where you can spend time pre-fishing the lake. I'd also suggest choosing those tournaments during seasons that play to your strengths. If you don't like fishing the post-spawn period, don't pick tournaments that fall into that time frame. Try and fit the tournaments into your strengths. 3. Fish, fish, fish. Spend as much time as possible on the water. Some lakes have lure/color preferences, learn what those are. Figure out where the fish are in relation to structure and refine your methods to catch them.
  7. Seriously, for $800 bucks you can't get to picky. As Jack said, he could part the thing out for that much.
  8. I'd probably tie on a , another med/hvy rod with a . You can never go wrong with a spinning rod and a :-* tied on. Always keep and within arms reach in case you run across schooling bass. And if the bass fishing is slow, try a for crappie or bluegill. Does that help?
  9. I built one of these after 9-11 Now I keep the JJ's in it.
  10. Firetail worms. I remember when those were the worms to have. IIRC, Mr. Twister was one of the first.
  11. They all stink. Some worst than others.
  12. The actual nights would be the 2nd through the 6th.
  13. More durable, less flex, better overall performance than aluminum.
  14. Look for motor mounting bolts sunk into the transom. Step onto the lower unit and jump up and down on it while somebody watches the transom. There should be no flex in the transom. You can knock around on the transom and listen for a hollow sound vs. solid as well. See the addition to my above post. I'd be way more concerned about the motor on that boat vs. the transom. blazers are high performance bass boats and owners are often known to trick out motors or run them hard. Given the description you gave that the original owner was a gear head I'd be looking very carefully at that motor.
  15. Your best bet is to go with a Stainless steel prop. You might be able to find one used for $150.
  16. Any boat that has wood construction will rot in the transom and stringers if it isn't properly cared for. The only way to tell is with a first hand inspection. BTW. Considering the boat brand and the fact the guy was a gear head, I'd be way more concerned about the condition of the motor than the transom or stringers.
  17. To my knowledge there are at least 3 cabins full at this point (12 people that have committed to a cabin). There may be more and some will camp and others are getting a room in the lodge. I'd look at the thread from last years roadtrip. While many commit this time of the year, fewer actually follow through. I'll wager, mods included, we're probably close to 20 - 25 so far.
  18. I think you're confusing trophy bass with big bass. If you take a look at typical tournament stats in my state, the winners have a nice sack of fish that average 3-5lbs per fish. The big bass, or even 2nd or 3rd runners up to big bass are rarely caught by anybody in the top 5. It's usually somebody much further down that stumbles onto that big bass while they're attempting to fill that initial 5 bass limit. But that 5-7lb kicker fish that gets weighed is barely what would be considered a true trophy in my state. If I was really trophy fishing my sights would be set on 6 1/2lbs minimum with my hopes set for something around 8 and 9 would be better. While still very short of my states record, any fish in the 8-9lb range are hard to come by just trophy fishing, let alone seeing one weighed in a tournament. Of course my states trophy size is relative compared to your states or anyone elses.
  19. You did lump tournament anglers in with WW's as you can see. Then this Scare me into thinking I can't compete? I gave an example of a charity tournament usually thrown each spring on Table Rock lake in MO. These normally draw 500 boats on average. The payout is usually a new boat and motor. Stacy and Charlie are but a few of the ringers you're fishing against. As a weekend warrior tournament angler, my odds of beating those guys are slim and none. I have to hope I can luck into hitting just the right spot with just the right lure at just the right time given the fact I'm hitting the water green the morning of the tournament. This is the part that while I agree with your concept, this isn't a reality for a weekend warrior If a weekend warrior is lucky he got to fish the lake the weekend before. Hopefully what he found will hold up until the next week of the tournament. At least he/she is in the ballpark. But those that can't get to the lake the week before or maybe not even a month or more before can't even begin to trying to locate fish on structure and refine a pattern within a typical 8 hour tournament time frame. They're much better off looking for catchable shallow bass as a means of cutting the odds that are stacked against them.
  20. Deb is the smallie queen of KY lake. WTG!! 8-)
  21. Registration for the trip, along with the $50 fee gets you the generous goodie bag, T-shirt, along with the banquet dinner. I believe there is a deadline but it's not usually until a month or so before the event which isn't until next May at this point. If you just wanted to show up and be a part of it, that's OK too. There's no charge for that.
  22. from merriam-webster a variable color averaging a brilliant yellow green
  23. Welcome to BassResource.com! I vacation down at PC Beach as much as possible. You've got some decent bass fishing down there as well as some nice inshore and off shore fishing. 8-)
