  1. Hmm... The XT Patriarch is listing at $50 more than a regular Patriarch. It has one less bearing and except for the handle and different drag assembly, I can't figure out where they saved 1.2 oz on it unless the standard handle is really that heavy vs. this new one.
  2. Hopkins or BPS house brand. I've got a few with the feathers which seem to stimulate strikes when a regular spoon doesn't.
  3. Wow! Nice job on the motor resto!! Who did your decal work?
  4. I remember when the gitzit tubes with the gitzit heads came out. The spiral fall of that bait was absolutely incredible looking. That bait has stood the test of time, that's for sure.
  5. Here's our two getting a bath. My wifes girl (Muffy) is the one sticking out of the tub. Mine boy (Dusty) is next to her. The little one in the back is Dusty's little sister who belongs to a friend.

Living in Tennessee, you should come down to the roadtrip next May at Pickwick. Plenty of support there courtesy Long Mike: BTW, Burley will be there. You look just his type.
  7. Very "Blingy" ring. 8-) I'm still pondering my lights. I stuck some on already and don't like the ones on the decks. Still thinking this one over.
  8. No. The hull, more specifically the stringers bonded to the hull are what support the floor. It's quite likely yours (the stringers in that Cajun) are rotted. I'm betting the transom is too. Here's a thread that shows what you're getting into. This guy did it the right way. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1251415883
  9. Exterior paint? No way. You're putting non-treated wood into a potentially damp-all-the-time enviroment. Paint would peel off in weeks exposing your wood to moisture which would cause it to warp. You'd have a nightmare on your hands along with a whole lot of wasted time and materials.
  10. Dude! Very nice work. Some folks just don't realize just how much work is involved in putting an older boat back right. Looks like it was done the way it should have been. What kind of primer did you use on the outboard motor? Like the steering wheel BTW. 8-)
  11. Some idiot even got pizzed at the soldier rod "program". What a loser, thanks for not telling me who that was because I do know for a fact that I would have gotten banned from the site for the message I would have sent him. : You have got to be kidding.... I suppose when you hit 20,000 members you're going to have some real pieces of work in the bunch. It's been at least a couple years ago but there was a certain member, pleading a handicap and wanting to start tournament fishing, that got paid forward big time from quite a few members here. That deal left a bad taste in some mouths for awhile.
  12. They are considered one of the speed boat builders of the bass boat industry. Up there with Bullet, Stroker and Allison. Their hulls are normally lighter than standard assembly line boats. I've never driven one but what I've heard is everything from fairly decent in rough water to a bucking bronco. Go to Youtube and type in jasper river run. In a few of those video's there are some Blazers involved. From what I've seen of them on that video, they don't seem the most stable in choppy stuff. Just My opinion though after viewing the video's. Very fast though.
  13. He founded a little media outlet called In-Fisherman back in 1975. Written countless books on fishing, as well as producing a ton of videos. He is considered to be one of the best all around anglers in the world and has been inducted into many different "Halls of Fame" for fishing. He is very involved in conservation efforts. He invented one of the most popular walleye fishing rigs, the Lindy Rig. He also has been very involved in teaching youth how to fish. One of his books about LMB, written in the early 90's is still one of the most highly regarded books out there. Yes, I am a little biased towards the guy. He was also active on the BASS trail in the 70's as well with at least one win as I recall and was a contributing writer to Fishing Facts magazine even before In-fishermen. His brother Ron is often considered as equally talented as he is at fishing.
  14. Fishing in 69 tournaments, Martin's BASSMASTER career includes the following achievements - 19 tournaments won, 9 B.A.S.S. Angler-of-the-Year titles, nearly 100 Top Ten finishes, and 25 appearances in bass fishing's world championship event, the BASS Masters Classic. Also a record, he has twenty 2nd place BASS finishes. His career tournament winnings exceeded one million dollars in 2004. During his dominating years, Roland finished in either 1st or second in over 50% of the tournaments he fished! That's domination that no other angler has even come close to including KVD. Bazooka fishing rod aside.
  15. I have 6 soft plastic rods. 1. 7ft med/hvy, fast 2. 6'6" med/hvy fast (I have 2 of these, they're the bread and butter) 3. 7ft med, xfst 4. 6'6" med, xfst 5. 6'6" med fast spinning rod
  16. Take some batteries with you.
  17. We drown the guys standing on the bank and call it an accident. Hmm.. a couple calls to some wives might get us a cut of the life insurance money.
  18. What happens if there aren't enough boaters? :-?
  19. To be fair, Clunn's peak years were back when prize purses were far less than they are today. I don't see why someone would decline in fishing ability with age, but even so, let's look at top 3 finishes: 1st place wins: KVD -15, RC - 14 2nd place wins: RC - 13, KVD - 11 3rd place wins: KVD - 16, RC - 11 (total top 3 finishes= KVD - 42, RC - 38) top ten finishes: RC - 102, KVD - 82 *KVD has 219 entries, RC has 355 Well, you're 22 years old. You'll understand later in life why. Distractions in personal life along with a decrease in motivation to win along with the natural effects of aging on a man who attempts to fish day long tournaments all factor in to why a Pro fishermens career will tail off after peaking. Everyone has done this except for probably Hank Parker who surprised everyone when he retired at what would be considered the top of his peak years. ok, ok, I get it. But what about the overall winning stats? KVD has recently made some mentions about his life after tournament fishing so I'm sure he's thinking about it. If he were to retire in a couple more years without surpassing Clunns record there will always be conjecture about what his record would've been had he stuck around a few more years. Much the same way people conjecture about how many more classic's Hank Parker might have won. Personally I'd vote for Roland Martin as the greatest of all time. While I know the guy can be unbearable at times his tournament record of winning is better than Clunns, just without the Classic wins.

  21. Engine horsepower ratings were measured differently in the 70's compared to now. Before they were at the power head and now it's at the prop shaft. The changeover occured somewhere around 1980. There were a few boats that got their max HP rating lowered after that went into effect.

  23. You can save upwards of $4-5k. I'd suggest driving there, money in hand, tow the boat to a mechanic, pay him whatever it takes to have a quick look at it and be prepared to drive home with it. A transom in such bad shape that a motor won't hang on it for 300 miles won't take long to find. I'd avoid any motor that's been modified for performance. A mechanic can also tell you that as well as the soundness of the motor overall. BTW, 300 miles isn't that far in order to save that much money.
  24. One of the best series they ever put in that magazine. It reaffirmed for me that I was doing things right when it came to strange lakes or lakes I wasn't very familiar with. The methodology of how the pro's would work a lake with no previous experience on it is a how to strategy guide for how any weekend angler could approach any lake and catch fish on a pretty consistent basis.
