The do's and donts of boat launching
Most ramps? No. I still leave the strap attached until the trailer hits the water. There are a couple I've launched off of that the grade was scary steep. I don't know about a boat sliding off dry bunks but it would be a real possibility when pulling it out on wet ones.

Old standard Storm Wiggle Wart
I think that's color SP/SV 54 or 55. Which is grey craw. Although it tends to look bluish grey in the picture. That particular color is very hard to find and you'll pay a premium for it when they come up on ebay. That was one in the series in the suspending crawfish colors. Several others are right next to it. My PB, 8.5lbs came on that Olive back, chart side, orange belly, 2 from the left of the grey craw.

Advice on boat purchase
Looks good. $2600 seems a touch steep but if it checks out should be a good starter boat.

Old standard Storm Wiggle Wart
Ebay is your best bet. The Mag Warts don't cost anywhere near what the standard warts cost.

DO in relation to depth
Pauls info is great. It also points out why another piece of equipment that was supposed to be the answer to a bass fishermen's quest to finding fish on a lake, never turned out to be the answer. The oxygen meter. 20 some odd years ago, having an oxygen meter was a must. The fish can't live where there ain't oxygen for them to breathe. It turned out to be another non-answer in the end. Fish can and will inhabit the depths even though the oxygen levels aren't considered ideal.

Mike Ike and his rods
Why do you think a steez rod would not be as durable as any other nice rod that Ike might use ? Not trying to start a debate/fight but just curious? Im pretty hard on mine and they seem to be very durable. Speedbead answered correctly. While Ike does get his equipment for free, I still can't imagine there isn't a little bit of respect given the cost of the rods in question.

Crazy Boat Crash!!!
It's not hard to understand. You can see it on the nations roadways everyday. Overall, there are way too many jerks on the roads these days. It stands to reason the waterways would be the same way. How many times on this very board have you seen guys indicating they're about to make the jump from an aluminum boat to a high speed bass boat? Or from a shore fishermen to the same type boat? Often, and those that post on internet forums are just a microcosym of the bigger picture. Just what experience do these new boaters have that makes them a safe person to boat around on the weekends? Where did they learn? Who taught them how to control Chine walk? Where did they learn to run rough water safely? etc? Some of that stuff isn't taught in classes and some of it has to be learned by on the water experience. IMO, there are a number of inconsiderate bass boaters out there, there are another number of bass boaters who don't have a grasp on how to drive their high speed boat safely and are in over their head and then another number of fairly newbie drivers out there who are at some stage of just learning. Put enough on this group in with safe boat operators and problems will inevitably happen. And this is just the bass boaters. The numbers for pleasure boaters would probably frighten all of us and the reasons are simple. They spend less time on the water since their season is usually from Memorial day to Labor day AND way too many of them get to the lake and suddenly think that safety, common sense along with courtesy towards others will ruin their weekend. There's a frightening number of those kinds of people that somehow think since THEY are going to the lake that rules don't apply to them. Like they've gone to some sort of heaven for a few days where they can do as they like and leave common sense behind. Those are the scary ones.

Color Selector
Actually, it's not so much a gimmick as that it doesn't do what those that buy it would like it to do. Which is, tell which color on a given day a bass is most likely to strike. What it does do is indicate which the color the bass can best see given the existing water clarity and light conditions. The actual principals of the device are backed by lab experiments by Dr Loren Hill. The problem is, what buyers wanted from the unit they didn't get. For example, if I come home from work and the wife has a juicy T-bone steak on a plate at a candle lit dinner table I could probably see the steak a lot easier if it was colored Flourescent Orange, I doubt I'd eat it though.

Old standard Storm Wiggle Wart
Pre Rapala (Storm) Wiggle Warts can be spotted pretty quickly. The mold line running down the back is very rough and often broken looking. Rapala Wiggle warts have a smooth back OR, during that short lived run of the "New" wiggle warts, they have a separate Lexan bill attached. V series? Are you referring to the V in the color numbers? Color numbers with a V in them are as old as Storm itself. Storm also made special one off colors for chains like BPS or organizations. In fact, the Wiggle Wart may have been made in more color schemes than any other bait in history. The special, one-off color numbers normally start with an SV or SP.

Color Selector
Dr. Loren Hill made a fortune off of those. The lure manufacturers did too. Do you remember the solid color lures they were selling that matched the primary colors shown on the selector? A pack of crankbaits that looked like a rainbow. ;D My friend bought one when they came out well over 20 years ago. They didn't work then and they'll do no better now.

The bass have figured me out
40 acres isn't a pond. I'd call a pond about 10 acres or less. I've had the same thing. In my case it turned out my pond was being fished by some folks that must have thought there was a bottomless pit to the pond and that keeper sized bass came back up from the depths at night and filled in for all the bass they took out. In one summer that 1 1/2 acre pond was ruined by a lack of catch and release.

Crazy Boat Crash!!!
People drive their high powered bass boats like jerks. I almost got t-boned on a foggy morning by a guy going full blast in the fog. I was fishing a hump when a bass tour. started. A hand full of fisherman left the docks at full blast. Which people are you referring to? A rather broad brush IMO.

Mike Ike and his rods
From what I've seen of Ike on TV shows, he's pretty darn rough on equipment. A lot rougher than many others. I'm not sure a Steez rod would last long laying on the deck beneath his feet.

use for a broken rod/pieces?
Keep the guides and tip guide in case something happens to the ones on your regular rod. You could also design yourself a nice little spooling station out of the handle.
-
Bass Pro Extreme Overuns
What type of rod are you using? With 1/4oz cranks you really need a softer tip rod that will load up easier in order to get the bait moving fast enough to prevent overuns at the beginning of the cast. If your rod is too stiff, you wind up whipping the rod too hard getting a quick spool start up but the lure itself isn't really traveling fast enough to prevent an overun before the mag braking on those extremes can take effect.

Allstar Platinum vs. Kistler Magnesium
You are obviously looking at the P787 Platinum. I would personally go for the P786. I've used the 787 line in a Titanium which is the same rod as the Platinum, just with Titanium guides and the action is a tad to stiff if you wanted to throw a slightly lighter T rig or jig. I've got 2 - 786's. One Titanium and one Platinum. With 7.1 Patriarchs mounted on them those are my bread and butter jig and T rig rods. Great feel to them, very sensitive and you're not worrying about any little ding in the rod turning into a broken rod on the hookset, they're tuff. If I want to throw a slightly lighter jig, worm or creature bait I go with a P785, 6'6" med/xfast. That rod has become my primary shaky head/spider jig outfit. One other thing, the Platinums have the power hump grip so keep that in mind.
