  1. Paint and such? Exactly what condition is the boat in? Correctly re-gelling a boat can be very expensive. Painting and re-gelling even more. You know that correct?
  2. I agree with your assessment but the record will be 15-1. The Rams will surprise everyone.
  3. An old trick we used with tubes for years.
  4. Already being discussed here http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1252278957

  6. I'm another that sets the hook pretty decently. The reasons are simple. I'm using a more moderate action rod that responds more slowly to my hookset and standard monofilament which has a lot of stretch. If I merely leaned into a fish I'd never get the hook past the barbs as Fletch stated. I also take more walks around the boat with a crankbait vs any other bait. I tend to try and lead the fish around letting her swim till she is done and ready for lipping.
  7. I've been using both the Norman Fat Boy and Norman Thin N. The fat boy has a much wider wobble than the Thin N.
  8. I regularly use EC hooks, along with other brands as well. I've yet to have an experience that would sour me on using their products.
  9. Fall in the midwest finds shad schools moving into the shallows, especially in the afternoons and becoming meals for the bass. Bass will follow into the shallows and hang on cover ends waiting to pick them off as a pod swims by or they'll work in a school and corral them up against a bank in a pocket. Fall is always my favorite time of the year even with the turnover which tends to sour the fishing for a bit.
  10. There really is no set in stone rule regarding jig trailer color. Experiment.
  11. Having fished a number of the BPS line of rods, I'd say the first of the lines that you could actually say were sensitive would be the Extremes. If you get them on sale they're a fairly decent rod for the money. The PQ's and JM rods get better. Never pay full price though, they're not worth it.
  12. Because he's not wearing the the black bedliner. It will be hot to the touch in the sun but so would white. Sand at the beach gets hot, doesn't it? It won't make much of a difference sitting on the seats in it. I have two SUV's. One with black leather and one with light tan leather. There's no difference in inside temperature when they sit in the summer sun. Give the guy a break. He got a great deal on a nice boat. I've fished in enough black carpeted bass boats to know that there is a big difference. Not ripping the guy, just pointing out a mistake that could be easily corrected. It doesn't even have to be black. I switched my carpet from charcoal grey to silver (light grey). Man! What a difference. That boat is going to be like fishing on a griddle top in the summer.
  13. That's always been one of the many problems with the power drives. The stow and deploy system, especially the deploy part. Next time you're at the lake, try this tip I wished I would've found much sooner in the 6-7 years I owned one.. make sure you're offshore far enough. 1. Disconnect the power cable from the foot control to the unit. 2. Unbolt all bolts/screws holding the TM to the deck. 3. Now attempt to deploy the TM, really put everything you've got into it. 4. Resist the urge to grab the TM as it's sliding off the deck and into the water. 5. Mark the spot with a waypoint on your GPS as a fish attractor. 6. Re-trailer boat, go home and then buy one of these. http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2197086 problem solved.
  14. A couple things. Attwood sells just the frames w/foam and SAS included if you want to take them to a upholsterer and have them done the way you want them. I believe the price list for that is available on their website or at least used to be. There was a feature on one of the fishing shows very recently featuring Rick Clunn and his suggestions on how to save your back from rough rides down the lake. He suggested taking a clue from the saltwater guys and putting a boat cushion under your butt while you're going down the lake. The idea wasn't so much the padding the cushion provided under you but more a matter of raising your butt off the seat putting you higher up. You can now extend your legs, which are now angled more downward vs straight out and use them to help absorb some of the blows thereby taking some of the shock off the lower back and spine. I used to do that running Lake of the Ozarks, one of the roughest lakes in the country to run during a summer weekend. My reasons though, were it gave me a little extra added height to be able to see. I never thought about the fact that I was adding my legs into the equation when I was bucking through some of the monsterous swells that happen on that lake. It actually works.
  15. You'll need to post pictures and the numbers off the reel foot. Garcia has been making red reels for over 40 years.
  16. I put an Attwood SAS seat on the passenger side for my wife 4 years ago. She was having some back problems at the time. Honestly, it wasn't needed. The Champion boat ride is smooth enough in even measly 3 foot swells that any really good boat seat will give comfort. That's in a Champion though with somebody who's had a lot of experience running rough water. If you're that concerned about rough water running here's my suggestion..

Always a good weekend to just stay home. Way too many boats on most of the waterways around my state.
  18. I've started fishing the shaky head.
  19. Are you hinting that you're about to start making your own custom rods? Let me be the first to pre-order.
  20. Champion isn't going anywhere. New financing is in place for the company and they are up and running, business as usual. There aren't a whole lot of manufacturers right now selling many new bass boats in todays economy. I think if you're this worried about problems with a used boat you ought to think about taking the plunge and buying new. They come with warranties and the repair of hull problems is the factories responsibility and not yours. As for buying used, you've just about found negatives about every brand out there. This coming from a person who's previous experience is with an aluminum boat. Good luck. I'm out of here.
  21. I had some Blackberry cobbler with ice cream on top tonight for desert. Another comfort food that's in my hall of fame.

I was on Prednisone a couple years ago when I had a Cluster headache occurance. It's a typical first line of defense for cluster headache sufferers but that stuff is nasty. 1. I did eat more. I gained weight which I've had a hard time taking off. 2. Although I was on it for about 3 1/2 weeks I started noticing food had no taste anymore. Everything had a metallic taste. 3. Blurry vision 4. Difficulty in sleeping. Ironic that the cluster headaches for me happened at night and made sleep an impossiblility for any length. The presnidone merely made the sleeping issue continue to be a problem. 5. Some irratibility. Nasty stuff. I started at 80mg. I was supposed to take that for a week. It worked. Knocked the headaches right out but 3 days into the taper down at 60mg and the headaches came back. I requested more to stay at 80mg till I could see the neurologist. I could only last about 2 weeks more on the 80mg. That stuff is nasty. I had every side effect the drug is known for plus a few others (involuntary muscle spasms in my little finger and toe on one side of my body). Yech..... I see if there was another drug you could take.
  23. Here's a store locator from the Pflueger site. http://purefishing.com/srchdealer.php?brandinit=pflueger
  24. I'm thinking early 70's. The leatherette cases in the mid 70's and beyond had a simple snap. That case looks older. I'm wondering if the case is the match for the reel? :-?
