Ok, when I fish with a frog, I seem to get a couple of bumps right before they actually take the frog. So I was thinking, couldn't you use a trailer hook for the frog to catch those short strikes, or because they eventually take the lure, it doesn't matter. Sorry, if this topic was already talked about it.

I use zoom lizards a lot during or around the start of the spawn. But I've been using them a lot lately, been getting some good results.

Is it a new dam or and old one. I know new dams aren't really that productive, but it depends on how the land go. I know in sandy soil areas it takes years to have a good fish not just bass populations.

That think is a beast! I was looking to fish Braddock monday, no I'm in a good mood. Can you tell me where NOT to fish on Braddock.

All my spinning setups are 8# lines. I use 3-5'' worms/creatures all the time.

It won't. Once my service in the Army is done, I have a job lined up at a local fish and game management as a Biologist. Working with a company that stock trophy bass and other "game" fish and alsotracking trophy white deer pre and post rut,with tracking wild boars on the side.

Are those Pit Boss lures any good?

Fast. Right now, I'm just messing around with the setups, to find a perfect set up for me. Granted I can use any lure on any rod, but I'm trying to get the facts on which one would be better suited for handling the bass once its on. I know catching a bass in the weeds on a tex rigged BC is better than a spinning rig, plus it seems that the BC can support a buzzbait with its higher ratio. Weightless or tx worms with little to no weeds is a lot better with my abu garcia rigged. I haven't thrown a crank bait, or a jig. I thrown a couple of spinning baits with both but haven't figured out which one is better. I'm just looking for info so it can save me some time since I can't spend to much time fishing.

This post is spot on. Everyone says look for structure. This is not always right. Always look for vegetation first. If it is by a dock, the bass will be there. But if there is not vegetation in 50 yards of a dock, that dock might be useless. But remember rule number 2, You should not overthink what a bass should, or might do.

I have a couple of places on my home body of river that I fish on that do not support fish. Once in a while a crappie might be present but its mainly because they are moving to another place. Its very shallow and sandy. It does not produce anytype of plants. So maybe there isn't enough plant life there to make "food" stay there for too long. When I was in the middle of getting my degree in Enviornmental Sciences, I did a paper on bait fish. For the most part, all bait fish will act like a bass. They need all the following that Sam listed above. But do not rule out that they are never there. For example. An interstate always have cars traveling on it. A back country road may have a couple of cars traveling on it from time to time. A bass will always be around an "interstate" if its food travels on it. Sometimes a bass might use a back country road if he sees a baitfish worth going for.I don't have a boat, so I have a couple of ideas, but it might not be too useful. Try useing a fish finder in those areas if the bite stops. You never know, you might stumble onto a pattern. So in summary, I would just kind of sweep the area, but would not stay too long in that place.

Hey can anyone from around FT Belvoir tell me where there are some good ponds to hit? I always wonder if some of these ponds have fish but I wouldn't know how to tell if they have fish in them or not? Can you point me to some ponds.

I need some help with set ups with my three rods. I don't know if it will help but I shore/bank fish. Baitcaster- 6'6'' med-heavy rod. with 10# fluro. Since I have never used a baitcaster this is my learner one, so I didn't spend a ton of money on it because I didn't know if I would like it. Still can't cast way far with it but I'm getting better. Spinning-6'6'' med rod with 6# fluro. I know this has a fast action rod. Both Rod/reel is Abu Garcia. I like this one the most and I have used this with my soft plasic/swimbaits. Spinning-6'6'' med rod with 6# mono. I was givin this for a birthday gift. Its a Shakespear combo. Haven't use this that much but same set up as the first spinning set up. Any help would be good.

I don't know if anyone else uses these things but I love them. I almost love them as I do shakeyhead. I have two sizes, the 4'' size and the 3'' size. I start with the 4'' and if I get a lot of short strikes I throw the smaller size. I reel them in and stop and let them drop. Get them in shad colors. Any other ways to fish them?

Last time that it happen to me was last week. I threw a Berkley powerbait swimbait in a shad color. Tossed it out past the schooling shad, then when I got to the school, just stopped reeling and let it fall. I got a 3lb bass, plus a couple of 2 pounders.

I use Strink King finesse worm or the Stick o bait kit that I got from Bass Pro that was on sale for 10 bucks. Just try to make sure you get some good colors. I flipped the box over to make sure I had what looks like Watermelon and pumpkin. Plus got some good black colored ones that really does look like a nigh crawler.

Good topic. My next lure purchase was a frog, was doing my research because I never used it.

I have 2 combos. I have a abu garcia 61/2 m/m pole with 8# and a shakespear 61/2 m/m pole with 6# test. The garcia is for soft plastics and the other is for all the other lures. Not the best but it gets the job done with me.

I have a small Strike king pond something or another spin bait. They seem to like it. White with somekind of yellow with I think red flake. Also have a small black buzzbait.
