  1. I don't think they liked it. Or you where waiting to long to set the hook and they figured it was fake and they spit it out before you could set the hook. When I work my plastic. I don't cast it too long, so it allows me to reel most of the slack in before it hits the water so I can be right there when they pick it up on the downfall.
  2. Also, Kiss the fish. Bill Dance does it, and look how good he does.
  3. I had a bad hookset yesterday with a shakeyhead. One minute he was on, the next he wasn't. I just left it be, and a second bass got it. I think sometimes it just happens.
  4. Nice. Normally I fish the O. resevior or on belvoir. So I like to figure out a good place before I just go. Almost a recon before a recon.
  5. Where can I get them, and what color do you guys use?
  6. Just started using a jig. Had a Zoom Fat Albert Grub on it as well. I was swimming it but with a couple of pauses here and there. On the 2nd pause nothing. But when I hopped it before I begain to swim it, It felt like an explosion happened. I set the hook and caught a nice 3.5 pounder. FIrst time I caught a bass with a jig. I might just have converted from a soft plastic person to a jig person. That was fun.
  7. Alright, I tried reeling it in as soon as it hit the water. It works. I guess my timing was off this morning. I had my kid with me this morning so I was helping out. So maybe that is the reason. I never had any trouble with a buzzbait.
  8. Ever Shore fished there? Or is there a boat rental.
  9. Not yet. I'm doing the same thing. Waiting until I get a good fishing report.
  10. Its on a spinning rig.
  11. Went fishing this morning, I tried a strike king buzzbait. Either a small or a pond sized. Problem was is that it wasn't staying on the top. It looked like it ran around a foot deep. I tried reeling it faster or slower but no luck. It was on 6# test. I normally don't use this reel/rod but my favorite rod/reel broke. So maybe the blade was bent somehow? Any suggestions?
  12. Fished this morning on base. Caught a 2 lb. bass. Had at least a 12+ catfish but it snapped my 6 lb test 3 feet in front of me. Once I set the hook on the cat. All you heard was the drag going out. That was an awesome fight. But I used a new small black buzzbait but for some reason, I couldn't keep it on the top. It acted more like a spinner bait. Caught the bass on a weightless 6 inch grub. Got a lot of short strikes. Maybe next time use a smaller bait? It was a pumkin colored with red flakes.
  13. Soft Plastics and a black buzzbait.
  14. Black Buzzbaits are all I throw. I think it looks like an injured fly or something. I had a yellow and like a pumkin colored buzzbait that I got as a set and the bass just laughed at me with those two colors. Kinda hurt my feelings. So I ate those darn bass with hot sauce.
  15. I just mainly use soft plastics. I mean if you can make a shakey head dance, the bass just eats it up. I also love to use a small buzzbait in the mornings or late afternoons. I might throw a shallow crankbait if there is some kind of structure or grass below it. But only as the last measure.
  16. Maybe next time a fish comes back to you, jump in and punch him in the face. Just saying.
  17. I use Booyah Pond Magic and Strike King has one too, just not sure of the name. You got too here in the DC area. Also you can try reeling it in and just stop and let it sink a little. Saw in on the Bass Pros show. Mimics an injuried baitfish.
  18. I keep them in the original bags then have a gallon size bag with the color and type of worm, so it is easier to get to when I need it.
  19. I really haven't fished a jig yet, but always wanted too. With all this information I will try it when I go out next.
  20. I will most likely stick to the park side. I bet they got a few fishing holes over there.
  21. I was looking to go there on my next day off. Those docks in the range of chest waders?
  22. I have plenty of run ins with rude people. I either just keep to myself and tune them out, or they get mad enough that they leave. Well around 3 months ago, I took my 3 year old with me. This guy came up and was like she is too young to fish. So I was like, she just reels, I just cast and set the hook. I called her over to me but I guess she was still in his "spot". So he tells her to move to the other side and have him split us. I was like Sir, she was there first plus I hardly think she is hitting your spot. She has a sponge bob poll that really doesn't hit the lilly pad that was there. He started mumbling under his breath about something. Then he said, isn't she suppose to take dance or some other girly sport? I was like, I grew up with girls that could out fish you any day of the week. And now I was just ticked. Luckly somebody was walking to a spot down the road so he step to this guy was like, if you don't move, I will punch you for saying stupid ****. So this guy just packed up and left.
  23. When I got to work this morning, I was like, this would be a great fishing time. It was cloudy and cool, with a slight breeze. Born to fish, forced to work.
  24. For Buzzbait, I use a black color. For poppers, I use a minnow or shad color.
  25. Last week, WalMart had strike king buzzbaits and strike kings plastic worms on sale for 2 bucks. Would have cleaned them out but the wife said I had an allowence of 20 bucks.
