  1. I was given some lures and a few of them are a jointed crankbait called a Sparkletail. I have never seen them before and would like to know if anyone uses them. Are they a Bass lure or more of a pike lure?
  2. The only doctoring I do to the Pop-R is to sand down the front lip, but I like the idea about the back hook.
  3. When I tie directly I tend to re-tie more often. With a snap I may go most of the day with out re-tying. Just lazy I guess! I think it's best to re-tie often so I don't use snaps anymore. I have been using a loop not with cranks for more action lately.
  4. In the past two years I've caught more Bass on the chatterbait than any other hard bait. (no skirt with a super fluke) In the last six months I have only caught three bass on the CB. Go figure!!! I have never caught a bass with a Toad, butI think it's more about me than the lure.
  5. I live in the Cleveland, OH area and fish for LM in many ponds, lakes and Lake Erie. That's right LM in Lake Erie! As of late my LC cranks have been out performing all oher cranks 3:1. The square billed LC in American Shad or Chart Goast around rocks have been the ticket this summer. Now that the water has been warming up I will use a mid and DD LC cranks in the colors listed above. I don't know if I'm ready to sell all my other cranks and buy only LC's but my confendence in these lures is very high at this time.
  6. I don't use the Horney Toad hook anymore because of the low hookup rate. Try rigging a Toad with a Gammie 5/0 but pull the eye of the hook into the body of the Toad far enough so the point of the hook can be hooked into one of the legs. Only go back about half of the leg then push through and skin hook it. This setup will still have the same action but will increase your hook ups 2X. Another rig I will try is to rig with the Horny Toad hook but add a Gammie G-Stinger trailer hook in one of the legs. The cord that connects the G-Stinger should let the legs move freely and not hamper the action of the Toad. I'll post after I get a chance to try it out.
  7. I picked up some Spot Remover Pro Model Jigs and have a few questions on their use. 1. What worm do you like to use with the Spot Remover? Should I be using a floating worm? 2. Dose the Spot Remover sit on the flat end of the jig head?
  8. I stopped shapening when I started using Gammi's. I don't know what steel they use but they stay out of the box sharp.
  9. I just started fishin Jigs this year and have not had any luck. I think my problem is feeling the bass hit the jig. Any advice would be appriciated.
  10. I have the AC68mxf paired with a 7.1 Curado and use it for everything listed above plus Rat-l-traps. It's fast becomming my most used outfit.
  11. Have not done much UL Bass fishing, but here in the Cleveland area we do alot of Steelhead fishing in Lake Erie tribs with 13' Noodle Rods. (Buggy Whip's) It's not uncommon to land 15# Trout 0n 6# line with 4# leaders.
  12. My wife asks me how much fishing gear I have, I always give the same reply. "Honey, I have more than I need and less than I want."
  13. I have a 7'3" M/H Avid that I use for Jigs & Swim Frogs. I like braids for Frogs and 15# copoly for jigs. What line would you suggest I should spool that I can use for both?
  14. hard baits = pop-r, spooks & jitterbugs. soft baits = toads, spro bronz eye frogs. I just picked up a LC splash tail in chart shad. the props spin with the lightest twitch.
  15. $5 + shipping for the tool ? I have a pen holder on my desk that is fullof them! LOL
  16. Clear with blue back is one of my favorit "Spooks" Just picked up a clear LC Splash Tail prop bait that has two large gold props, should be a killer bait.
  17. I see that Gammie has a trailer hook called the G-stinger. It looks like a finesse hook with a string loop attached. Would like to know what you think of them and what lures you attach them to. I was thinking that they might be good for frog baits like the Horny Toad.
  18. Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap crome/blue up north and smokey joe down south. I like the looks of the Spro Arku shad but have never caugh a fish with one. Has anyone had much luck with them?

When fishing with a jig what s the right time to set the hook? Do you set it when you feel a tap or do you let the bass get the jig in it's mouth and start to swim away?
  20. I'm looking for a good Loop knot that wont slip. If anyone has a web site or some directions for a good loop knot it will be appriciated.
  21. RW, I have fished the Fat Ika in lakes around structure but never in rivers. Do they fish well in current? If yes do you fish them on structure or drift with the current?

If you have used the excalibur wake bait I would appriciate your opinion. Do you fish it the same way and places as a Buzzbait? Being such a large bait is it only good for large Bass.
  23. I also like Pro's Soft Bait Glue. I was at a local hobby shop and they sell a glue that comes in a bottle like pro's. I bought some at about 1/3 the price and it works just as well.
  24. Rat-L-Trap, at $3 a pop they might not be the cheaoest bait but they last a long time and I land many fish with them
  25. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BAD BRAND OF TACKLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bait Monkey.
