  1. thanx!! i know stopping is more important than pulling, and unfortunately my trailer does not has any brakes. i drive extra careful while towing, and im not new to towing, since we have a rental business and i have been towing a lot of things, from cement mixers to 2 horse trailers for some time now... most of the times i use my jeep, but sometimes i use also a Ford F150 and a 4 cyl Ranger until we sold it. now, the Frontier would mostly only tow the boat, which by the way, i plan on upgrading in a couple of years to at least a 18´ boat, but hopefully it will have brakes.... until then, i need to know, if im going to be fine with the truck... my other options are an Xterra which im guessing will be very similar to the Frontier, maybe even less adequate, a Jeep Liberty, and a Jeep Cherokee Sport....
  2. hey. im thinking about getting a new truck and selling my jeep. the truck i have in mind is a Nissan Frontier from 2000 to 2004, i dont like the 2005 and up models. would it be fine towing my bassboat? its a kingfisher, i think 16 or 17´ and im not sure of the weight. im planning on changing the jeep because i dont wheel it anymore, and its not too comfortable to pull the boat for 2 hour long drives... for the local lake its only a 20 minute drive, so its OK, but the other lakes are at least 2 hours away, so even when gas mileage is not that bad, its not a comfortable ride and max speed is only 50-55 miles per hour, while when we go on my friends truck we can reach 75 easily... i hate getting rid of the jeep, but i think its a smart decision based on my current needs... so, does any of you drive a Nissan Frontier and tow a boat?? it would be a 4 door, 4x4, 6 cil truck.... thank you.
  3. what i dont understand, is why they use the exact same name and explanation for everything they sell... they just replace the product, but the rest of the story is just a copy/paste... it just as easy as googling "marshal pesta" and the first links you get are for scam reports... i still dont know how it works for some people, how is people so dumb they would send money without seeing the product first...
  4. hey, yesterday i contacted a scammer selling a Nitro 882. just to let you know to beware of this people.... read from bottom to top the chronology of the emails: On Thu, Nov 22, 2012: Ok, I will send you my info. I just want to know something. By any chance, were you trying to sell a bike some time ago?? And also a jeep?? http://www.fightthescams.com/2012/10/17/craigslistautotrader-scam/ http://www.net4truthusa.com/__AssholesAmongUs/scams/jeepfraud.htm http://www.fightthescams.com/2012/10/23/marshal-pesta-impersonator-at-it-again/ I knew it since the first email I got from you, just wanted to see how far you would go. This is ridiculous, if you really think you would be getting a dime from me. And yes, I already reported this to Autotrader, Craiglist, and FBI. I will forward your info to Autotrader and they will notify you about our deal. Thanks On Thu, Nov 22, 2012 at 8:14 PM, Ok. So, to do it your way, how and when should I send the money?? I really want the boat, I wouldn’t want someone to purchase it before I do, so please tell me where should I send the money and when can I expect the boat to be there. I will use the 5 day inspection time period to have it checked by a mechanic, but if everything is as you mention, I have no doubt I will keep it. As I understand I send the money to a third party, and the third party will give it to you after I agree on keeping the boat?? Thank you. De: Marshal Pesta [mailto:veves150@gmail.com] Enviado el: jueves, 22 de noviembre de 2012 11:07 a.m. Asunto: Re: nitro 882 that is not an option we do with my way or no On Thu, Nov 22, 2012 at 6:45 PM, Ok so, if you offer a 5 day period to inspect the boat, and the option to accept or reject at your expense, can you put it in El Paso?? I can drive up there, inspect it, and if I like it, which Im pretty sure I will, I can send you the money right away. Of course you don’t have to send it to my address, you could send it to an Autotrader office and I will go up there and inspect the boat. After that, I will pay to Autotrader and take the boat. Is that OK?? De: Marshal Pesta [mailto:veves150@gmail.com] Enviado el: jueves, 22 de noviembre de 2012 09:39 a.m. Asunto: Re: nitro 882 At this moment I am in WA state in a military base, getting ready for Afghanistan . I do a special training program everyday day and I am not allowed to get out of the unit and to speak over the phone. The shipping will take 3 to 5 days depending on your location. As long as I'm dealing with Autotrader and they can ship the boat anywhere in the US.Because it is a large transaction, we will complete the deal only using an authorized third part like Autotrader because I already prearranged the whole process with them, using their escrow Safe Pay Program for boats not listed on their website. The boat is located in the Autotrader warehouse in Dallas,TX (ready for delivery). I asked them to allow viewers to go there and inspect the boat but their reply was "We are not a showroom!" In this case, I will offer a 5-day period to inspect the boat from the moment you receive it, before I'll have your money. I think this is more than fair for both of us.The payment will be handled by Autotrader , and you will benefit of 5 days inspection time period (test drive) and the option to accept or reject the boat on my expense. If you are still interested just send me your full name and shipping address. I will forward your info to Autotrader and they will notify you about our deal. Thanks On Thu, Nov 22, 2012 at 5:39 PM, Hey. Thanx for replying so fast. Can you provide a couple more pics?? I would like a pic of the console and one of the electronics, and if you have an overview of the boat´s layout I would appreciate it as well. Im really interested in the boat, it would be a good upgrade from my current 1977 boat. Can you tell me more about it? What´s the top speed?? What about fuel consumption?? What´s the trolling motor thrust?? What type of electronics does it includes?? Im interested in the boat, but I need to know these details first since it’s a 3 hour drive from where I live. Thank you,
  5. thanx!! im not looking to get another rod, but using the ones i have for different things.... i already tried casting weightless senkos with my MH Veritas, paired with a Revo S, and it launches them really far.... i have not gotten a fish on them yet, bu as far as casting them, i cant complain... i havent had a single backlash with this reel either, even when casting into the wind.... right now i have a Falcon Cara T7 im using for texas rigged senkos, worms, and all soft plastics... i think i may use that one for weightless as well, and leave the veritas for spinnerbaits almost exclusively.... and the M/M will be used for lipless cranks. by the way i dont think i will be using weightless senkos that much until i develop the patience needed to wait for them to sink. yesterday i went from 1/8 to 1/4 and ended up with 1/2 oz sinkers to be able to reach the fish at 20+ feet fast.... they didnt want anything but a worm hopping off the bottom....
  6. thank you jay-b.... the kayak is for my brother, who all of a sudden decided he would like one to use on a small lake near our house... last year they allowed bassboats in there, and i used to fish it very often.... its so small, sometimes i didnt even need to turn on the big engine, the trolling motor would be fine... now, they turned it into a public park, and the lake is electric-only.... since then i have been fishing from shore only... so, now my brother has his kayak, i thought i could use it for fishing a couple of times... can you post a pic of the mil crate you mentioned with the rod holders?? thanx!
  7. well, i bought it yesterday, it will be my brother´s christmas gift, so i will get it in a month... ill see if it can be used by one person, and hopefully i will be able to fish out of it in the local electric-only lake...
  8. thanx!! yesterday i dressed my first treble hook... it came out OK for being the first one, but theres a lot of room for improvement... the vise i posted worked good, but it needs to be fixed to the table to be better, if i wasnt careful it moved... i didnt use the magnifying glass, in fact i removed it.... i placed all the hairs at once, so that made it difficult... i was also working with a smalle treble hook, a bigger one will be easier.... and regarding the spinnerbaits, i didnt know that about mixing materials... yesterday i also fixed 3 or 4 of them that had the band to loose, previously i had put a zip tie, but now i removed them and tied them.... hoplefully this weekend ill be able to test them with some fish....
  9. i got it originally for dressing treble hooks but thought i could also hold spinnerbaits in place...i used it tonioght to fix a skirt that was all messed up and it worked OK... for tying skirts, how do you do it?? i tied some tonight by hand but those had the rubber band in place, and i removed it after tying.... i think tying one without the rubberband will not be so easy...
  10. thanx for the really good (and long) information!! its a lot, and some things are really advanced for a newbe like me who has never even done one spinnerbait, but im sure i will understand this better when i begin making them, and im sure a lot of members on here will benefit from it... now, since im buying the heads already with the wire, i dont think i have the option to select wire diameter... and i really dont want to pour my heads yet.... i answered your PM... and would appreciate your catalog.... meanwhile i just got me this today: i have several spinnerbaits i fixed with zip ties, tonight after work i will tie them properly to test the thread i already have and see what know works best... maybe i even share a couple of them tomorrow... thank you!!
  11. thanx, i wont use it then...
  12. thanx!! i see i had a couple items sized incorrectly... thats good info i hadnt seen, thank you!!
  13. can i use a small drop of crazy glue?? or would that eat the skirt or have any other negative effect?
  14. ok, i just picked some items to see if im missing something. here is my preliminar selection: 25 willowleaf blades 25 Indiana blades 100 wire clevises, size 3 bead assortment (around 200 beads different sizes) 20 painted spinnerbait heads (10 ea. chart/white and chart/black) 25 split rings size 0 1 round rubber sampler pack, including 10 strips of 1" x 1 foot 25 swivels, size 10 what am i missing?? with these i could make 20 baits and still have a lot of supplies, specially beads, skirts, clevises and blades. is this everything i need? or did i miss a component?? also are the sizes correct??
  15. well, i have never changed skirts in the water... i have replacement skirts that i have changed to replace old or worn out skirts, but i do this at home... if the spinnerbait im using is not working, i will change spinnerbait, not just the skirt. and i have had several spinnerbaits get naked at the first or second cast because the rubberband is not tight enough... right now some of my most used spinnerbaits have a small zip tie to hold the skirt in place.... but im about to get a small vice and replace the zip tie with nylon cord... so, since i dont change skirts until they get thorn, i dont have a problem tying them.... and thanx for the link!! but i dont think i need that tool.... all i need is the skirt material to begin making skirts...
  16. thanks for the link and the info!! it even says it can be handled by one person, so maybe i will be able to use it for fishing now and then...
  17. thank you Eric!! i didnt find a "skirt making kit", but as i understand all i need is skirt material, there are several to choose from, and, the rubber bands or O rings to attach the skirt to the head?? i think i prefer tying them on, i have some nylon thread that should work fine and i can find it locally very cheap....
  18. thanx!! ill look for online deals, since we live in Mexico so i would need to purchase online and have it shpped to Texas and then go and pick it up.... and i know there are inflatable fishing vessels, but my brother absolutely wants a 2 person kayak, and i dont think i could use it just by myself...
  19. thanx!! so the .pdf comes in scale 1:1 ?? thats will be a good help.... and regarding skirt making, i saw this video: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/skirts-material/ so basically skirt making is just getting the skirt material sold here: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/skirt-making-material/ and cutting the ends?? when i was a bowhunter, we used something very similar to skirt material as noise/vibration reduction devices.... it seems skirt making is very similar.... if so, i already know how to do it.... in fact i was thinking about trying archery cat whiskers on a jig,as you see in the video, the material is a little more rigid, so maybe on the water it will stand up and move as tentacles.... and it comes in several colors normally found in jigs, such as yellow, black, green, brown...
  20. hey... my brother wants to get a 2 person kayak.. not for fishing, just recreation... he was looking around and found this kit: http://www.basspro.com/Sea-Eagle-330-Sport-Kayak-Deluxe-Package/product/101215/ what do you think?? it is any good?? it wont be used much, just for a couple local lakes... i wanted him to get a hard kayak so i could use it for fishing, but he drives a small car and needs something he can fit in there, besides he wants a 2-person.... im also open tu suggestions for other brands or models within $300 max.... do you think i should wait for the Black Friday and seee if basspro has any good deals on kayaks?? right now they are including free shipping on orders over $125...
  21. thanx everyone for your input... i tried ordering everything separate, but for example, when i got to the clevis selection, i found these options: Description Availability 1 100 pack 5 100 pack 10 100 pack Quantity (001) Size 1,Used on Inline Spinners In Stock $3.89 $16.65 $27.50 (002) Size 2,Used on Inline Spinners, Small SpinnerBaits In Stock $4.15 $17.80 $29.40 (003) Size 3, Used on Inline Spinners, SpinnerBaits In Stock $4.79 $20.35 $33.70 (004) Size 4, Used on Inline Spinners, SpinnerBaits In Stock $4.99 $21.40 $35.40 (006) Size 6, Used on Pike & Musky Lures In Stock $6.99 $30.00 $49.60 so i dont know if i need size 2, 3 or 4.... same goes for the swivels, i see sizes 14, 12, 10, 7, etc, but i dont even know which one is bigger and which one is smaller.... thats why i wanted to get a kit, to know for example, how a size 12 swivel looks like, and based on that, next time i will know if i need a bigger or smaller.
  22. hey, i recently found out about lure making, and i think i would like to give it a try... since i really enjoy fishing spinnerbaits, and they seem as the easiest to build, i thought about beginning with those.... i found this kit: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fishing-lure-making-kits/032590000009.aspx is it worth it?? i thought about buying it to see all the parts i need and get some experience... i tried picking each item individually but got lost with the huge amount of items i could pick from, specially regarding to sizes... so, is it a good idea to purchase the kit, and after i build the 10 spinnerbaits included, begin purchasing parts individually?? or is there a better kit to begin with??
  23. did a little more progress yesterday.... since days are getting shorter, most of the times darkness will come with us still in the water.... so i got some LEDs and installed them as courtesy lights. i installed one under the console and 2 were temporarily installed in the original rod locker, when we modify it we will move this lights to another place, but for now, it works where they are....
  24. it definitely matters... bass around here have a policy of not eating crippled fish... so a crank resembling a blind fish would get respected.... maybe even helped while crossing the street....
