Huge Bass Pic
i got this photo from facebook, supposedly they were caught in Sinaloa, Mexico, around 1970... they say these bass weighted 12 kilograms (about 25 lbs) as they look in the picture, so alive they would be maybe 2 or 3 pounds more... what do you think??

Revo S, Tournament Mg, Or Citica
because of leverage. with less line on the spool, the lever is less. with only one wrap of line, the lever is equal to the diameter of the spool. with a full spool, the lever is maybe 1/2" more, depending on how deep it is. thus, if you hang an X amount of weight on both reels, the second one will make the drag slip with less weight than the first one.

A Sport Or Not?
by definition from Wikipedia: therefore, tournament bass fishing is a sport, as there are rules to be followed, and at the end there will be a winner.... fun fishing is not a sport, no matter how physically demanding it may be.... for example, im also a rock climber, and while its a great exercise, requires a lot of physicall and mental strenght, its not a sport, as there are no rules, and no winner nor looser, we just climb for the sake of it, competing only againts ourselves, trying to climb harder that yesterday...

Indoor Fishing??
that would be a great learning experience, have a pro fish and the rest of us look at how they work the baits...

Indoor Fishing??
theres one exactly like this on the Bass Pro at Vegas... the salesman used it to demonstrate the efficiency of different lures, how they reacted to rod/reel movements, and how bass attacked them... of course it was just maybe a cast long, a couple yards wide and 1 story deep, you would stand on the ground and the fisherman was on the second floor...

Transporting Tin Boat
hey, i have a boat very similar to this one: which i plan on removing the 3HP motor, installing a trolling motor, and using it for the local electric only lake. i used to transport it on the back of a truck, it fit perfectly and required minimal tie downs. but now that we sold the truck, is it feasible to build a small trailer to tow it? it would be good since it would be a one man operation VS 2 man required to load it and unload it on the truck. however im not sure how towing such a light trailer would work out. i have towed a bass boat, and several other trailers, but never something that light... thank you.

Is Trolling Cheating? ;)
i prefer to be casting, changing lures, trying different tactics, than just sitting in the boat cruising around hoping to get bit.... even if i dont catch a thing, i enjoy it more than just sitting still holding the rod....

Leaders
i use a fluoro leader on my braid line for plastics mainly because of reasons 2 and 3 above... another good reason is that if you retie often, its easier and cheaper to cut fluoro (i use nail clippers) than braid.

Sealing A Battery??
thanx for the comments. i hadnt noticed the leak until i put the battery in a carpet, and when i moved it, it had corroded the carpet, a small hole. the battery was still working and everything so i guess it didnt loose much acid. i thought i could refill with distilled water, but now you mention the acid i think it would be better to get another one. i dont know (ad dont want to find out) wat the acid can do to the fiberglass.... maybe nothing, but im not sure... also, im pretty sure it would contaminate the water if, as mentioned, it gets in the bilge and eventually in the lake....

Sealing A Battery??
thanx, its about 2 years old so i think it has no warranty. and about the electrolite, can i add distilled water or is it another thing???

Sealing A Battery??
hey. one of our batteries is showing a small leak. i hadnt noticed, until i saw it corroded a piece of carpet where i had it stored. upor further inspection i noticed a small leak in the battery casing. is there a way to seal it? or do i need a new one? this one was very recent, and i excellent working condition, so i wouldnt want to replace it if it can be fixed.

Trolling Motor Pull Rope
right now im using climbing accessory cord like this one http://www.moosejaw.com/moosejaw/shop/product_Sterling-Rope-Prepackaged-Accessory-Cord_10097146_10208_10000001_-1_ i already had it laying around, so it was free. but if theres a local climbing gym or shop, you can purchase a foot for cents, around here i can get the 5 mm for about $1 USD per yard, and you shouldnt need more than 2 yards.... so far it has not broken in 2 years, however, when it does breaks, as i think it will, im thkinking about trying to put some steel cable, like the one used for bike brakes. it can be had fr very cheap as well, and i think it may do the job... just an idea as i have not tried it yet...

Tow Suv?
im pulling my fiberglass boat with a 2002 Xterra, 4x4, V6 3.3 lts. so far, i have no trouble either pulling nor stopping, provided i drive carefully and keep enough space between me and the car in front... my boat is small and relatively lightweight though, im not sure how it would handle with a bigger boat... the xterra is rated for 5000 lbs so i think should be able to pull most of the bassboats out there, but as they metioned, pulling is not a problem, stopping is most important...

How Do You Eat Your Bass?
i have been fishing for only 2 years, and only once have i brought any fish to eat, the rest of the times its C&R... the one time i did bring a couple of fish, my grandmother cooked them in a broth... there were just 3 fish in the 3-4 pound range, but they made a great dinner for 8 people...

Deepest Caught Bass
intresting topic... do you have to take extra caution when pulling bass out of those depths? i mean, can something happen to them, similar to what happens to divers?? in fact i think thats why you have to fizz them, right?? so whats the proper way of pulling them, very slowly??

Pulling A Boat... 4X4 Or 4X2
thats what they say, but, why extra drag?? many 4x4s have the front wheels free from the front drive shaft, either automatic or using manual locking hubs... for instance, on my jeep, i have manual hubs, therefore, when they are free and it is in 2H, i can manually rotate the front drive shaft, since it is not engaged with the transfer, and the inner shafts are not engaged with the tires... when i put it in 4H or 4L, the transfer case engages with the front drive shaft, but still the tires are free from the inner shafts... i need to manually put the hubs in LOCK to engage them to the shafts... therefore, there is NO extra drag from it when the hubs are in FREE, the front drive shaft doesnt even turns when the jeep is moving...

Pulling A Boat... 4X4 Or 4X2
why would gas mileage on 2WD be less than on a 4WD assuming the same vehicle?? for instance, the parts that make a jeep 4WD are 3 shafts and T case, overall i doubt its a 60 lb difference... and with hub locks as i have on mine, you can have the front wheels free, therefore neither one of the shafts (inner and front drive shaft) are spinning, thus, theres is no extra drag, only a little bit of extra weight...

Pulling A Boat... 4X4 Or 4X2
i dont know about newer Rubicons, but on a friends 2006 Rubi, several times he lost the locker because the air hose would come undone, we would have to open the differential cover and put the air hose back in place.... maybe to fix the problem they are now electric?? i dont know, i havent been too much in the jeep thing for a couple of years now....
