  1. Looks like Florida will get just rain. Have to watch where Harvey is going to go after hitting land. He could turn north and head for Texas. Of the four, so far, so good as you predicted. Hope it continues for the rest of hurricane season. Remember, September 10th is the halfway point and we have had some big hurricanes after September 1st. Is this true? Just saw it on computer. Heading into Corpus Christi. Anyone know of this hurricane? This storm is actually Hurricane Harvey that is gaining strength. It could go through Texas and then into Louisiana where it breaks up.
  2. I hate to see that. Franks was tops on LSU's list two years ago and he was committed to LSU when Florida made the flip. Remember Gunner Kiel? He committed to LSU and then went to Notre Dame where he played behind Golson. Since Golson was so good he left Notre Dame and went to Cincinnati. Golson was thrown off the team and Gunner was not there to replace him. Kiel just disappeared at Cinncy and was not drafted by any NFL team. Not saying Zaire will get injured or thrown off the team, but if Franks leaves the Gators he will have to sit out a year unless he goes to a Division II school. If Franks had gone to LSU he would be in line to be the starter for the next two years unless he could break into the depth chart ahead of Etling. LSU had no choice but to go out and get two top quality quarterbacks when Franks could be starting for the Fighting Tigers this year and the next two or three years. If Franks does leave Florida I will be surprised. But if he does, it will be interesting to note if he is allowed to transfer to another SEC school. Stay tune.
  3. Great having you with us. We offer lots of information so don't be bashful and ask your questions. Southeast Mississippi is by Alabama. Is the Pascagoula River a tidal river?
  4. That's what was reported on Sirius Radio's college football station yesterday. Seems the other two guys may be stronger passers and runners but Ziare has a better grasp of the playbook. Will be interesting to see if Franks gets in this year or he redshirts. And from the Florida reports, Franks wants to play, now.
  5. Sam replied to The Bassmaster's topic in Bass Clubs
Bassmaster it would help if you have your location on your avatar. Otherwise we have no idea where you are physically located. You have some options: 1. Go to "Links" at the top of this page and open it up. Then look for Bass Clubs. Find the FLW and BASS information and open each. Look for clubs in your state. 2. Contact your state federations about clubs in your area and if they are accepting boaters and nonboaters. 3. Check with local tackle shops. Club members frequent the tackle shops and the clerks may know of a club or two. Good luck. P.S. Please go to the Introduction section and introduce yourself.
  6. No. Interperted the question as to storage.
  7. Just be sure to have a North Carolina fishing license to fish the NC rivers and lakes. Better to be safe than sorry.
  8. Around 8 years old. Went to a "camp" on the north side of Lake Pontchartrain to visit friends with my aunt and cousins. I was given a baitcaster and a red and white spoon and I threw it into the marsh behind the house. Had not idea what to do so I just started to reel in the lure. Caught my first largemouth bass that day. Have never looked back!
  9. And now there are three heading our way. Take notice and follow their progress these upcoming days.
  10. Don't forget Ray Marine products. Cost less and they are excellent.
  11. Sorry, but never heard of Pro-Cure gel. I use MegaStrike and it works for me. Other guys have their favorites, too. it boils down to confidence in your scent.
  12. Add your gut feeling plus your confidence intuition and you have the answer. Sometimes I don't throw enough and at other times too much. I have been known to leave the fish and go to another place and then again, I have found the bass in places I had no idea they were there. Times where I change baits and presentations after 10 casts and other times I stick with a bait for way too long. Same is true for places I fish. Just depends on how long it takes to catch two and formulate a pattern.
  13. Yep. Tackle Warehouse does a great job with their shipping. I have a few of the heavy tubes in case I have to return a rod to the manufacturer.
  14. Now that is heaven. Used to go with my wife to estate sales and I have found some great antique baits. Nice hobby to spend your spare time.
  15. It is still six.
  16. BASS and FLW clubs clean up rivers and lakes from time to time. Check with your state's federations for both organizations. You can find their links at the top of the page under Links.
  17. Air them out in the tackle box.
  18. Welcome, Steve. We will need all of the SEC help we can get when kickoff finally arrives. Glad you love college football. Geaux Tigers!
  19. Have two more in the Atlantic. One is headed to Central America. The second one is on course for Georgia/South Carolina unless it turns more to the north then it is North Carolina and Virginia. Keep a watch on the second one.
  20. Sam replied to Rick Howard's topic in Fishing Reports
Join the club. It will happen to all of us sooner or later. Keep on fishing for her. She is still there.
  21. After you make your purchase get with me via personal message and I will share with you how to set up the baitcaster to avoid or minimize backlashes.
  22. Right, they do it all the time. If you listen to what they say, closely, they may not say they caught the fish with "X" bait but they hawk them anyway. Listen to Ike closely when he discusses his baits after a tournament at the weigh-in. I used to fish with a guide who was sponsored by a few bass industry companies. When either he or I caught a nice one, he would take off his fishing shirt and put on another fishing shirt plus a new cap of one of his sponsors and I took a photo of him so he could send it into the manufacturer. We always laughed about it as he used Zoom plastics and various hard baits, only. But he had to send in photos so I helped him. He has since passed away but he was a character.
  23. Thanks for the positive feedback, David. It makes us all proud to be on this site and helpful in any ways we can. Congrats on your personal best. Now go out there and get a bigger one.
