When was the last time!
Last week. Had to take the baitcaster off the rod, put it on a Berkley spooling station and using my Boomerang tool cut it out. Then put new line on the baitcaster and am ready to rock and roll. What caused the disaster was my not seeing the pine branch above the dock when I swung for the opposite bank using an overhead cast. It was one heck of a bird's nest if I do say so myself.

Fish grippers on bass?
I have them on the boat for catfish and bowfin. Never have thought of using them on bass nor would I consider using them on bass.

Best popper for bass
No. I like them all which is a problem in itself. Just keep trying them until the sun stops the topwater bite and then it is on to frogs for topwaters or maybe a Sammy. Whatever works is the best one. At least until the pattern changes.

Best popper for bass
Monkey, the best popper for bass is the one that is working. You may have to try several before you find the right one.

Potomac River Advice
J, my bass club doesn't fish the Potomac any more. That body of water can humble any man, women or child who goes bass fishing. You need to return when the grass gets control of the river. Sorry you did not do as well as you hoped but it is another fishing adventure for your memoirs. Take care and come on back for another whack at the Potomac River.

Makes Me Sick
Kyle, she is still there. Lurking in the dark abyss of the pond, just waiting to torment you. Thinking how easy it was to throw your bait as she showed you just enough scale to get your goat. Yes, she knows you. She knows your canoe. She knows how you talk. She knows what baits you like to throw. She knows everyting. That is why she is still in the water, wild and wacky, and you are home dreaming of her. Will she ever be yours? Stay tuned. And post a pic should you catch her, too.

Cheap reels??
Gavin, please introduce yourself in the Introductions section of the Forum. And yes, there are discounted tackle entities on the Internet. Google for them and see what pops up. Good luck.

Storing Tackle?
Keep plastics in their bags if possible, separate from other baits and plastics. Store your tackle in your bedroom or man cave to keep it out of the excessive heat and cold. As for which size tackle box you need....totally up to you and your preference. The suggestion about having a specific box with the tackle you will be using the most that one day is a good one. I do it pond and boat fishing plus in tournaments so I don't have to take time to hunt for a specific bait. Label your tackle boxes, too.

Red Braid?
According to Dr. Jones of Berkley in his studies of the bass population in his book, Knowing Bass, page 161, "bass have good color vision in the spectral areas of red and green." Just adding my two cents.

Fishing fast current lake Dardanelle
Alaska, this month's issue of Bass Times has a great article on Swift Water Bass fishing. If you do not subscribe to Bass Times you may want to try to find the article on the Internet. The author is a Mark Hicks. Basics of fishing fast water is discussed and the article is a great reference. Good luck in your tournament.

So I was unprepared for this fish
You never know when you will need a specific tool or bait or rod/reel setup when fishing. That is part of the beauty of the sport. Congrats on your catch. Now go out and catch her momma!!!!!

What was your worst fishing purchase decision ever?
A number of years ago I purchased the BIO PULSE SYSTEM as it was developed and designed by an LSU professor to attract spawning bass. The lure is six-inches long and designed on the same platform as the Shad Rap. However, it has a hollow body where you add the fluid that has the Bio Pulse System Sci-X Feeding Stimulant Foam. So does it work? Nope. Not even a missed strike. I sent an email to the professor and he told me that the lure was released too early in their research and that he and his staff were working on an updated version that should perform as promised. I have not found out the name of the new bait, nor do I know if it has ever been released. I don't think I will invest in the new version. If anyone out there knows anything about this bait please let us know. Thanks.

Spots and Secrets
Th365, where are you? Can you add your physical location to your avatar? As for sharing secrets and spots each member on this Forum has their own opinion. I will not share spots or secrets with guys I fish against in tournaments as a rule, but the rule is not in concrete as I have assisted others fishing tournaments and they have shared their input with me. As for guys on this Forum, I will help them as best I can on Virginia waters. As for guys I don't know I usually keep my spots and secrets off limits. The problem is that guys who fish specific of bodies know the "secret places" and what "techniques" work best so in actuality there are no secrets in bass fishing. You may think you have found the "magic pill" but others have it, too.
