Need Opinions on Ethical Fishing Question.
I have seen bass pass hooks. I have pulled a plastic worm out of a bass. I would throw the fish back and hope for the best.

Why Miles is Staying at LSU
This is what I heard from my NOLA sources. Miles did want to go to Michigan and was ready to leave LSU when a number of things occurred fast. First, Michigan did not want to pay LSU the $1.5 million payout. Second, LSU sweetned the pot with more money than Michigan was ready to pay. With that said, the intangibles came into play. There are a number of people in Michigan who did not want Miles for whatever reasons. Couple this to the fact that LSU loves Miles and Miles rules the state of Louisiana for high school talent and he would be starting over in Michigan with recruiting the reasons to stay at LSU started to pile up. With Michigan's arrogrance and LSU's down home spirit Miles thought it best to stay at LSU. The best medicine Miles can give Michigan is to beat Ohio State. If that does occur, the reprucussions throughout the Michigan administration and athletic offices will be felt across the country. With Pelini in Nebraska we are wondering who will take over the defense. It can't be anyone worse than Bo. Either his defenses are too difficult to understand (aka NFL and former LSU Coach Arnsbarger who had the Tigers wondering which way to go on each play) or the LSU guys are just too agressive and do things on their own. Plus the fact that Flynn has a torn rotator cuff leaving Perrillioux as the QB. Should be fun. At least the BCS and the media will get the attention they are craving. Sorry about Mizzou. They deserved the Orange Bowl bid.

Why Miles is Staying at LSU
Hey Matt, I thought the guy is with a newspaper in Detriot. You have his e-mail address and phone number in the post so contact him. I was very surprised Miles did not go home. There is more to the story than is being told. But, so it goes.

You did great. Sorry your dad got skunked, but there is always next time. I like the drop shot, especially the way you used it. Good thinking. Glad you did well. Keep it up.

Why Miles is Staying at LSU
Nalex, I was sure Miles was going home to Michigan. My friends were also sold on Miles leaving and we were looking for either Spurrier or Del Rio to be our new head coach. We were all surprised when he said he would stay at LSU. I think it is the best move for him and his family now. And the funny part about this entier situation is that if LSU is lucky enough to be selected to play in the BCS Championship game Miles will coach against Ohio State. Ohio State is 1-0-1 against the Fighting Tigers so to us LSU people it is very important that we win this game as we should be 2-0 aginst the Buckeyes but due to some "funny" officiating LSU lost one game and tied the other. Man, is college football fun or what?

Five, What I am saying that those schools that you see in the Top 25 each week will lower their requirements to enter their school to get the fast and nasty guys to play for them. You need the fast and nasty guys to win today. And with all that money on the line schools will do what they have to do to get the players. You have to be able to hit hard and take hard hits. And be nasty. Tough and nasty. Big, tough and nasty. Big, tough, nasty and fast. Especially fast. College is about speed. The NFL is even faster. Sometimes to get those big, tough, nasty and fast kids you have to turn your head as to their behaviors and hope you can instill some sense of responsibility in most of them. The vast majority will succeed. But some, who have the talent to do very well in college and the NFL, will not respond. Just look at what Alabama has done; Auburn on probation when they went undefeated; the young Vick guy at Tech; and there are so many others. At LSU, Perrillioux, who is a great QB, should be in jail for actions this year. Or at least off the team. Penn State has two guys who got into a lot of trouble and are off the team. Penn State - where Papa Joe has always run a very good and clean program. Remember those great Miami and Florida State teams? Tough guys. Majority did not graduate nor did they plan to graduate. They were playing for the NFL. Ciecel Collins of LSU should now be playing in the NFL and on his way into the Hall of Fame. Sorry to say that Ciecel the Diesel is in jail due to his actions off the field. A very sad story. The guy had the world in his hand and just could not control his actions. Every now and then a highly rated academic school, like UVA, Stanford and Duke, will have good football teams. But overall, since they have high academic standards, they cannot compete week after week or year after year with the kids they attract. And can you see anyone turning down any of these three schools if you want a degree? Man, a degree from any one of these three schools is worth a fortune. Spurrier is very angry with the South Carolina administration as they would not lower their standards for Spurrier to have a great high school football player attend USC. It is so bad that Spurrier was seriously being considered as LSU's new head coach if Miles had left for Michigan. Yes, there are a lot of great college players who do not get into trouble. But take it from me, there is a lot of stuff that is swept under the rug at all schools, expecially in the SEC and some teams in the ACC. And how do I know? I guess when you get to my age you have a lot of people who know what is occurring at their colleges or at other schools and we talk. We also know some of the coaches or athletic department people (and some reporters) so we get the information. Nothing against the Hokies, who I pull for, but this is our world today. So we cheer on the guys and after their eligibility has ended we forget about them and pull for their replacements. Now, to watch to see if the Hokies will be playing West Virginia in the Orange Bowl. Old rivalry with no love lost between these two teams or the fans. Should be a great game if it comes true. Have a fun time and pull for your favorite teams or against those you do not like. Isn't college football fun?????

Really awkward situation last night
Robert, I would have been proud to have any guys look at my wife. But of course it depends on the type of guys. My wife is a beautiful blond. A real blond. And she acts like a blond which drives me nuts. I would not have done anything unless there was gong to be an altercation in your situation. If an altercation was looming, I would hope the resturant would have called the cops as I do not want to go "balistic" ever again and lose my temper. I don't take prisoners nor believe in taking prisoners. Learned that in Viet Nam. But if you had to do something be sure it is fast and unexpected. Go for the eyes with your fork or knife. That should defuse the situation very fast. Otherwise, be proud that you have someone that turns other guys on. She is yours and I know she is very happy with you.

Virginia? Really, Basspro48. Virginia and football? Come on. Any team that gets all excieted about singing Ol Ainge Zyne (or however you spell it) when they finally score a TD can not be taken seriously. Virginia has never been good in football and anyone who thought that UVA was going to defeat Tech just does not know football. As for the BC game, Tech had a score to settle and they did just that. You can plan against players and routes but you can't plan against the heart and the Honkies had the heart to win that game. cannot ever see UVA rising to the top of college football as they did back in the early 90s. It is mainly because the UVA guys can read and write and speak the King's English. UVA has high standards and they support their standards. And everyone has to be proud of how UVA operates its athletic department. Good kids with no problems. For UVA to do well in football they need some thugs from Richmond and the greater Tidewater area, which right now is ruled by Beamer and Tech. Unless Groh can get the thugs UVA will win 7 or 8 games a year, at the most, in the future and Tech will continue to challenge for the ACC football title. Now, if we want to discuss basketball...............

Christmas Joke
This Year's First Christmas Joke Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. "In honor of this holy season" Saint Peter said,"You must each possess something that symbolizes Christmas to get into heaven." The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle", he said. "You may pass through the pearly gates" Saint Peter said. The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells." Saint Peter said "You may pass through the pearly gates". The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's panties. St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, "And just what do those symbolize?" The man replied, "These are Carols." And So The Christmas Season Begins......

SEC Championship
Yes, it will be interesting go see wher the Vols go to play their bowl game. So far I have heard that Arkansas is headed to the Cotton Bowl. So maybe the Vols can slip into the Cow Bowl in Atlanta and play Boston College? If LSU is selected to go to the BCS Championship game does that open the door for the Vols and Oklahoma in New Orleans? Or will OU go to the Orange Bowl to play Virgina Tech and Mizzou go to the Sugar Bowl? Or, will the Sugar Bowl stay on its commitment to invite Hawaii to New Orleans to play Tennessee or LSU? Whatever happens it will be fun and another crazy bowl season. I just hope Bama goes to the I-Bowl in Shreveport but I understand that it may be Mississippi State headed up that way. Stay tuned. It is going to be great!

Why Miles is Staying at LSU
Is it the pretty coeds at LSU? Is it the great university setting? Is it that the Louisiana people love him? Is it that he has Louisiana in his back pocket for recruiting and has made serious in-roads into Texas and Florida? Is it the quality of SEC football and the challenge week in and week out? Is it that Michigan will not defeat Ohio State for at least three, maybe five, years? Is it the pretty LSU uniforms that are dynamic? Is it the money? Here is one observation. I agree that if Miles went to Michigan it would be a failure. Half of the Michigan athletic supporters want the Iowa coach and half want Miles. Carr does not want Miles and although Lloyd Carr looks and acts like a mortician,he does carrysome weitght. So here is the observation. Take it or leave it: Posted by Terry Foster on Sat, Dec 1, 2007 at 2:12 PM A Done Deal Dies The news that Les Miles is remaining with LSU is shocking to everybody, even some of his closest friends. I was on the phone with one of Miles' boys Saturday morning and he was telling me some of the names Miles was bringing to Michigan. He sounded excited as ESPN reported this to be a done deal. The details were exciting and it sounded like Michigan was breaking the mode of Bo Schembechler and Lloyd Carr and doing something that would make this an elite program again. We hung up and he called me back 15 minutes later and said there has been a major snag. LSU had sweetened the offer and he said that Miles had second thoughts. Money was the major factor but there was something else Miles got a bad vibe about. He knew he was coming to enemy territory. He feared that he would never be embraced by Carr and that he'd be fighting that the entire time he was here. Miles wanted to retain some of the Michigan assistants because he respects their ability. However, he feared that he could not. They were loyal to Carr and he feared divisions within the program before he even got started. Michigan was offering good money. It did not match the $3 million he will get at LSU but the Wolverines were willing to go as high as $2.4 million to lure him. When you heard this was a done deal, trust me it was. But a man is allowed to rethink things and change his mind. Even Miles' closest friends were paving the way for him get relearn the community. In fact a private meeting between me and Miles was being set up after he got to town. That is how close this thing was. Now Michigan must start from scratch. Let's see how Blue recovers from this shocker. I can be reached at Terry.Foster@detnews.com or 313-222-1494.

SEC Championship
OK, West Virginia lost. Mizzou is going down. So who plays Ohio State in NOLA for the BCS Championship? Can't vote VA Tech over LSU since LSU won that game 48-7. Can't let Oklahoma or Georgia in as Oklahoma is too far down in the rankings and Georgia did not win the SEC. As Brent Musberger said during the OU-Mizzou game, "The BCS is going to implode." LSU will play either Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl (Sugar Bowl always takes the "different" teams to play the SEC Champ) or in the BCS game against Ohio State. Should be fun no matter what happens. And special thanks to Danny Ainge for his performance. That horseshoe Miles has up his butt is still there. Or at least he has put it back after the Arkansas screw-up.

Ugliest Football Uniform
West Virginia's yellow uniform is also ugly. Anything Tulane wears is ugly. Anything Alabama wears is ugly. LSU has the prettiest uniforms in college.

Tell Me It Ain't So,Byron
From Badjocks.com rgarding one of our pros, Byron Velvick: BadJocks Meets Reality TV: Former NFL Cheerleader Arrested for Assaulting Pro Fisherman Boyfriend from "The Bachelor" - It's been over two years since we had a big pro football cheerleader story (you remember the story of the Lesbian Sex Bar Brawl, don't you?) so you can understand our excitement about this one. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers cheerleader Maribel Liliana Delgado aka Mary Delgado was arrested Thanksgiving Eve for battery just hours after appearing with on the ABC reality show, The Bachelor in a special edition called "After the Final Rose." On that show, her long time boyfriend, Byron Velvick, who she met on the show three years ago, announced they were engaged. But the afterglow didn't last long as shortly after midnight, police were called to the couple's Florida home after a report that Delgado had punched her worm-downing fianc é in the mouth. According to cops, alcohol may have been involved. (ABC News)

its sad
Don't forget to run the gas out of the motor and put Stabill in your gas tank. Or, hook up the "ears" to the motor, sit in the boat, start the motor, and play going fishing while you drive your neighbors nuts with all the motor's noise. Then put the trolling motor down (careful not to hit the trailer's tounge) and stand up and start practicing your casting skills. One of two things can happen. First, you will improve your casting skills; or 2) the people from the funny farm will arrive to take you away. For your information, I have taken the gas out of the boat and put it into gas cans to use for the riding mower if I am sure I will not be going back out on the water. And I practice casting in the big field next to my house!

Anybody ever put structure into a pond like this?
Simple question with some heavy answers. I always wondered if it was OK to put various structure in the water for both pleasure and tournament fishing and here is what I was told: When fishing a tournament it is OK to fish any man-made structure or items that are placed within the body of water as long as the items are placed prior to the tournament and not placed in the water just for the tournament. On the Chickhomony River and Kerr Lake (Buggs Island) there are small trees, brush and other items that other fishermen have placed in the water that can be fished by others anytime during the year. Once you find them they are your "secret" and very few people share this knowledge with others. In other words, you can fish any structure or underwater cover as long as it was placed in the water for non-tournament reasons and is to remain in the water and not be removed after the tournament. Second, I have placed Christmas trees and cinder blocks in ponds where no tournament fishing will ever take place. The Christmas trees have seemed to disappear but their concrete blocks are still there. The rocks and dowels are still there, too. I do not see any problems with fishing structure or cover that is "man made or placed structure" that is placed in the body of water. Of course, anything you put in a tidal river will probably be washed away, like my attempts on the James River, so I would think you would find more "man made or placed strucutre" in creeks, ponds and lakes. So go for it on your pond but be ready to get wet and dirty and frustrated and cold as the Christmas trees seem to have a mind of their own when you place them in the water.
