  1. Totally agree, Rip. But it is part of the sport. Not a nice part, but it exists like fumbles and interceptions in football or bad calls in basketball. Part of the game. The tournament guy could pull up close to the other boat and start to fish, giving the teenagers a chance to move on. Otherwise, there is nothing you can legally do. The water is open to all, even guys fishing for $100,000 or out to have a good time.
  2. So what can you do other than to turn to violence? It is part of the game. If the teenagers wanted to be jerks then they will be jerks. Just do what I do when this happens: go find another place.
  3. Hit Dick's as soon as you enter the venue and get one or two of their large, green bags. No telling what you will find they are giving away. Check out the list of vendors on the Bassmaster Classic Internet site so you can see who will be there: https://bass19.mapyourshow.com/7_0/alphalist.cfm?alpha Have a fun time and let us know what you think about the Expo; the vendors; who you saw or met; what goodies did you get; and what did you buy? Can't wait to read your feedback. Be safe and wear a smile and get ready to rock and roll! Hit Dick's as soon as you enter the venue and get one or two of their large, green bags. 4. Saved me more than once, too. Where did you get your stake out pole? Did you make it? We used to use them in Louisiana when I was growing up and they are great. Can't find one and people look at me like I am crazy when I ask about it.
  5. Wife and I decided to give her father's pick-up truck to son and we purchased a trailer. This is what happened: 1. No City of Richmond property taxes 2. No Commonwealth of Virginia license plates. 3. No Commonwealth of Virginia safety inspections. 4. No insurance premiums on the pick-up. 5. No car washes. 6. No pick-up truck repairs. 7. No new pick-up truck battery. 8. Son took old pick-up apart and could not get it together again. Sold it for junk. And we love our trailer. Hauls so much more than a pick-up and is easier to load and unload. Same is true when you compare a bass boat with a kayak.
  6. IgotWood, I don't' think many guys have hit Diascund reservoir so far this year due to the temperatures and water clarity. Please let us know how you did and the water temperature. Thanks.
  7. Outstanding! Congrats on a great tournament. You show those young guns how to do it.
  8. Have you seen the 2001 KVD Bush Beer commercial Kevin made after he won his first Classic? It is a classic in itself. Enjoy!
  9. College coaching contracts have clauses regarding cheating, honesty, integrity, and infidelity. Ask Ole Miss and Penn State about it. But nothing was said that Smart or his family was actually paid, given jobs, given cars, or received other remuneration. Maybe Wade was acting like a big shot when he told the other guy that he had bought players in the past. Just a bunch of baloney that went no where. Wade, a short, small guy, acting like a the big Mahoola to impress the other guy. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  10. NH Bull, let me join the choir. In Virginia we have some steep turns and narrow waterways, even on our rivers, that create a hazardous situation all the time. Guys fly up and down the waterways as if they own the water. A few times I was almost thrown out of the boat from their wake. Had to hold onto the seat pedestal for balance. So what can be done? Nothing. No way to patrol the speed of individual boats so it is up to the boat's operator to operate the boat in a safe and friendly manner. Have I run too fast for the conditions? Yes, one time. Never again. Missed a fallen tree in the water by inches. Swore after that that it is not necessary to go fast when conditions dictate against going fast.
  11. FishOn, I had the original Hydrowave from the company in Louisiana that invented it. I used it for years and never did see an improvement in my hooking ratios. Then, KVD got involved and his investors bought the company. KVD supposedly uses one but I have not seen it on his boat or any new commercials about the unit. The theory behind the Hyrdowave is sound: make different forage sounds of different species of fish and the bass will come to see what is going on as the bass are very inquisitive animals. The new units are not inexpensive. However, if you really want one and believe they will improve your hook ratio or give you more confidence then go for it.
  12. What is troubling is where did the money come from? Not the university. Not Wade. A crazy alumni? A business? Something's don't add up. If Wade did in fact pay Smart or his family then why did LSU suspend him and not fire him? I am sure the Louisiana State Police have been asking questions of all involved and telling the Chancellor what they found out. Plus the fact that Smart was allowed to sit on the LSU bench for the Vandy game. If the kid did take a bribe I don't think this would have been allowed.
  13. You are correct. Pros do this to some topwaters by removing the small BBs and using one larger ball. But they ain't talking!
  14. Fish, they are too pretty to fish!
  15. First, you need a hook on the end of the line. You put the hook through the guide's support, not the guide itself. Then reel all the line onto the spool, making it snug holding along the rod. Take the line coming off the rod's tip and move it around the rod so you can place it against one of the line guides to hold it in place. You now have the line snug against the rod. Give it a try.
  16. Buzzbait. Mann's Minus One. Jitterbug. Popper. Toad. Frog. Spinnerbait between the grass and pads in open water, if possible. Unweighted trick worm Texas rigged. Unweighted other plastics of your choice. Dynamite if in Louisiana.
  17. A past LSU basketball coach told me that when Roy Williams was at Kansas, before he went to UNC, he was dirty. The players need to share the profits of their game. They need to be paid the same amount by each school in their conference. Alabama still hates Tennessee because Coach Fulmer turned them in for cheating. And I remember an excellent running back from New Orleans that LSU and the other SEC schools passed on and he ended up at Tulane. He was driving a big SUV that he said belonged to his father. Mississippi State is supposed to have caused Ole Miss to have the football problems it faced with the NCAA. And everyone thought Joe Paterno ran a clean ship at Penn State and looked what went on at that school. Stay tuned. It could get nasty when everyone bails on each other.

Ike pulls it out on the last day. Then again.....................
  19. Vice Chancellor and Athletics Director Joe Alleva has suspended Will Wade indefinitely over the purported story of an FBI wiretap catching Wade admitting he paid Devonte Smart to attend LSU. Now, in Louisiana and other SEC states some fans believe it is OK if you pay a player to play football. Ask Auburn fans about the $80,000 payoff supposedly given to Cam Newton and also ask the Alabama football fans about it. But basketball? Paying someone to play SEC basketball? That is a far reach but it does not look for good for Wade. If Wade is convicted the NCAA has the power to walk in and have LSU forfeit all games and to tell Smart that his college career is over. In Baton Rouge the seasons are football - gymnastics - crawfish - baseball - fishing. We were hoping that basketball could be added to the list. Does not look good right now for that to happen. The hearing is set for April 22nd, way after the NCAA tournament. So it will be interesting to see how far LSU can go in the SEC tournament and the NCAA playoffs without Wade. Stay tuned sports fans, this should be a good one to follow.

Fantastic! Wonderful! Outstanding! Great! Out of this World! Good fishing down the Historic James just east of the mouth of the Chick river. Keep us posted on your adventures and be sure to post some pics of your catches.
  21. Clothes folding board. Use it to fold my tee shirts and it is great. Look it up on the Internet or Amazon.com Makes folding your tee shirts extremely easy.
  22. Welcome, Caleb. Glad you are with us. Please introduce yourself in the introduction section of the Forum. Rsmall has given you some great suggestions. Don't forget Watkins Landing where you can launch your kayak without any problems and the fishing in the area is excellent. The ramp is off Route 711 (Robious Road) down to the river on Watkins Landing Road. Look it up in your WAZE program or on the Internet to find it. Be sure to let us know how you do and take pics of your catches.

  24. No, but the traffic in Pigeon Forge is still not as bad as Myrtle Beach.
