  1. That's some crazy stuff you typed there. I'll keep it simple right now, but this summer when they're deep, I'll definitely be giving that a shot.
  2. How about heavy rain during the spawn? I assume the rain wouldn't run them off the beds, so would it really make a difference at all?
  3. It's my go to bait for swingheads and flipping. I've started using it as an alternative to lizards on my c-rigs, and I've got one tied up t-rigged for this weekend. I also like the space monkey too.
  4. Yeah, i know... I usually use fishidy premium, but it expired recently.
  5. Where would you fish this? I haven't fished this lake for a while, but rumor has it that they a few are on beds already. I've added a picture of my first spot, it's got a fairly large flat and some steeper contour lines nearby.
  6. Haha I thought maybe someone else may see it, turns out one did.
  7. I just spent the last 20min figuring out how much it would cost me to make these myself before I saw this. I assume that the benefit of these is that you don't have to spend the time rigging one, and i guess it would save a bit more space in your tackle box.
  8. I appreciate it guys. I'm gonna give the rod a try this weekend. I've already bought some stuff to just try it all out. I hope I don't have any issues with braid, but I can see why I might. I've got one last question (although feel free to keep talking about the last few): I wouldn't mind making some pre-rigged ones, not necessarily with the leaders, but just the swivel, bead and weight; I've seen them around the store and of course they have none now. Is doing this worthwhile? Kind of like this one
  9. Mach II. It's got a faster taper.
  10. Ended up using one today, just tied everything on my flipping stick (DX745c). I used FC this time, I'm definitely going to try it with braid though. I did shorten my leader from 5 to 3 feet and caught a few more fish. It's definitely a technique I'm happy to have in my arsenal. Do you guys use bullet weight or egg weights? And what size weight do you generally use?
  11. Some guys came into wodk today sayinh theyve been catching them all day with a carolina rig. Ive tried it before and never really had luck, so i guess ill try it again. So ill start by asking what tips youve got for me about fishing this thing? Second, what gear do you throw it on? I figure I'll just use my frog set up: 7'11" Aetos H/XF with a Super Duty 8:1 and 50lb braid. Im gonna make a second post about the actual weight and bead and swivels so this doesnt get too bogged down.
  12. We just got some of the telescoping eagle claw skeet reese rods, all 9'+. Cranking, Flipping and Swimbait rods. Are these new? I've never seen them before and it would coincide with the repealing of the rod length limitation.
  13. I haven't seen anyone outside of myself and my friends in the 10 years I've been living there.
  14. I actually fish a pond in my subdivision that has all 12-14" bass, you'll catch like 20 in an hour. I wish I could take them out, the neighborhood assoc threatened to rescind my privileges if they caught me taking fish.
  15. It appears that the water has warmed up 10 degrees in the last couple days and I've started to see the bass coming up shallow, even had some topwater action last night. So what're your guys tips for fishing around the spawn? Everything from the most basic to the most ridiculous and obscure tips are welcome, just want to start some discussion. It's a bit hard to search since "spawn" is related to "pre/post-spawn."
  16. As far as I am aware, they only offer composite rods?
  17. I've been using the D765cb glass this weekend. It's a bit too heavy in my opinion for a 1/4oz chatterbait. I wonder what difference the extra 3 inches makes? I think I'll just end up buying the 735cb glass.
  18. probably this lil piggy
  19. Ive used an Avid. Good rod. 99% sure the only difference is the handle material and the microguides.
  20. 1. Never used it, looks like it would get caught in the line when I cast. 2. No idea. 3. Avids are great rods. If you want to spend $200, I'd go for the Avid 7' MH/F. 4. I fish spinnerbaits, squarebills and swinghead jigs with large trailers in rip rap.
  21. I'm just like most and throw the Z-man baits, the original has the best vibration, but the elites come with colored blades. I fish them on a glass rod (mojo now, dobyns 735cb soon), with braid and a 6:1 reel. Cover usually dictates chatterbait vs spinnerbait, as the latter gets hung up less in my opinion. A good rule that I abide by, is never throwing what my buddy throws, he loves throwing chatterbaits, so I usually throw something else. Here are some finer details for you. I pretty much keep my colors simple, as they're an irritating reaction bait, so I don't think color is as important. Black and Blue at night and in chocolate milk. Any mix of white, gray and chartreuse is for later in the season. And right now I've been having lots of luck on green pumpkin and brown colors. As far as trailers go, darker colors get a rage craw and lighter colors get a rage swimmer or a Keitech. *I've heard that the SKT naked rage blade cuts throw grass a lot better, so I'll be trying that this summer*
  22. I bought one of these in the translucent bluegill color, when would be the best time to use something like this?
  23. I have one of the older high end Lews. Its ok. Check out the higher end floogers
