  1. I'd say the super duty is the better choice, but you should have no problem with the Revo.
  2. Any of the Furys, I'd reconsider your length limit to be honest. A longer rod makes quite a difference, and the FR806 is just what you want.
  3. Almost bought a Revo Rocket for $135, got the monkey off my back. What a steal though.
  4. Good frog rod, if you like a longer rod for frogs. That sounds like a rod made for dragging football jigs and carolina rigs to me.
  5. Thanks for the tips guys, I'm gonna wire tie my next few swim jigs and try it.
  6. You'll be happy with that BB1! I have the multi-stop and I don't like it, it drives me nuts. I'm not a fan of the play in the reel. If you want a rod for everything up to 12'-15' crankbaits, I'd look at the Dobyn's 705cb. You definitely want a longer rod than 6'6" and heavier than a medium. Line choice is fine.
  7. I match my leader and braid diameter, so for 20lb braid, I'd use 6lb leader. I've been using a uni-uni knot, haven't been a big fan tbh. I've started using more wraps in my knot, and I think it's helping.
  8. Banded. The threads on the skirt are both broken (short) and missing. I always thought wire tying was the way to go, but a few people complained about the wire crimping the skirt and creating a weak point.
  9. How did this work out for you? I have an Aetos (we probably got it at the same sale haha) that broke in the exact same fashion. Except mine broke off completely, a chunk of cork and the ring, and now my reel doesn't sit tightly. I just emailed Fenwick and then saw this.
  10. Been bed fishing with my first round of hand-tied jigs. We have been catching maybe 40-50 fish a day, no bigger than 2lbs max. I feel like my jigs haven't been holding up as well as I expected, it's mostly the skirts falling apart. Is that what to expect in terms of durability?

  12. Definitely sounds like you need the Dobyn's Fury 735, one of the most versatile rods out there.
  13. Anyone here catch fish with it? I bought one, and have plenty of blow ups, but no takers, I set the hook and there is nothing. Have no problems with a buzzbait or regular frog on the same nights.
  14. Another vote for one of the Dobyn's. The 735 comes highly recommended, but if your dead set on 7 feet, the 705 is the rod for you.
  15. It's really up to you, I'd try the longer rod, maybe you don't like longer rods, maybe you do haha. Only one way to find out. I recently called and asked about a carolina rig rod, they said whichever, all dependent on the length preference.
  16. whaaaaat. i work at DSG and we dont have that sale!
  17. I'm probably going back to Sunline FX2, I was not a big fan of 50lb Suffix performance braid.
  18. I've used mod, modfast and fast rods in my search for the right rod. Like most here, I've come to like the modfast rod best. I throw squarebills into cover, so the fast rod makes it easier to maneuver and get un-stuck. The moderate rod makes it easier to cast and keep the fish pinned. So the modfast rod can bring a nice medium between the too. I personally have grown fond of my Dobyn's Champion 684cb. I bought this primarily for jerkbaits, but it doubles up nicely. I have heard great things about the Fury 705cb and intend to purchase one in the future.
  19. I still think the 705cb is not built to handle the deeper cranks like the dt14. If you are looking at the Fritts rods, I'd pick the MH. A Medium will just wear you out.
  20. Gonna be fishing Ozarks a lot this summer, looking to pick up a dock flipping rod. Big Dobyn's guy, so I'm looking at that SA684 or a SA705. Anyone have experience with these? Would the 684 have a fast enough tip and enough backbone? And would the 705 have a fast enough tip?
  21. Yes, and it's just gotten worse. No, and if anything it has slowly become underfilled haha. At first I had thought it might have been the leader knot causing the other knot, but as I cut my leader down to about a foot, so it never collided with a guide, I still had the problem.
  22. I always like to try new braid as i havent found something i really like for spinning set ups. Ive got some 20lb Suffix 832 and Ive been having so much trouble with knots forming along the line. It looks like the knots form because the line hits a guide, stops, and all the line bunches up at that guide. Once i have one knot, i cant cast as far and soon another, bigger knot forms. Is it the braid that is the problem or something else? Im also using a 8lb FC leader, i cut the leader down so the knot never hit the guides and that helped a little bit.
  23. You could definitely shop around for a Dobyn's champion, either a flip rod or a 735c. If you don't feel like looking around, check out the Sierra line, it's not as established as the Champion, but I've heard good things. You can also try the Lew's Custom Pro Speed Stick, they have a mag pitching rod, H/F 7'4" rated for 1/2 to 2oz for 209.99. There is also the St. Croix Avid rod, about comparable to that Lew's stats wise.
  24. The mats are creeping up around Central Illinois, and learning to punch is my technique for the summer. So anyone got good videos or articles where they learned something very useful? I've watched a few general videos on YouTube thus far. But I'm looking for the good meaningful tips lol.
