ok its kind of a dumb question but im ordering a rod building kit and the rod is medium power fast action and its rated for 3/16-5/8oz so i was wondering how much effect would throwing an 1/8oz bait do? i mean they have the ml which will do the 1/8 but id rather have a medium i have a medium carbonlite right now and its a medium but rated for 1/8-1/2oz so will there be much negative effect throwing a lighter bait?

thanks guy for the advice and yeah i have the same problem with shakey head rock bass and blue gills are always nipping at it and the rock bass just plain eat it but ill deff have to give those tips a try thanks

ive used that style before with great success its just the water is so clear here which makes it so tough

ha i mean im just trying to figure out the best way to do it in moving shallow water thats been the toughest aspect for me

i mean ive tried watermelon red flake for worms and everything and never got any response out of them like lmb in ponds and lakes i fish i mean it seems green pumpkin anything they are on it

ok thanks my next question is should i cast out pretty far? since im wading i know i cant drop it straight down ha be kinda pointless and i mean i 99% of the time am using a variation of a craw dad but i use jerkbaits in this time of year but ive tried a few times before with a smal zoom finesse worm in green pumpkin

i love my stradic just the orginal stradic and i agree a good rod is crucial though i mean also fishing smallmouth in a crik or river its a good blend of both rod and reel well at least a reel with good drag on it

ok so as it suggest any tips or suggestions or drop shotting a creek its max depth 6ft but usually ill fish pockets that are 3-5ft and ill be wading this time of the year i wanna finesse cause these smallmouth go into total shutdown but any tips or suggestions would be great

thanks guy but the thing here a lot of people are missing i think is im fishing a crik which isnt a lake or river maybe 50 yards from bank to bank and the limestone is a snag heaven and ive used hair jigs many times without a whole lot of success and same with regular jigs has anyone used any type of grub? like curly tail cause i heard good things about it but personally havent used it before

thanks guys for all the responses and i usually do throw a less action bait and slowly drag it and i mean painfully and i wade so my actions are very slow or no movement at all in the water because it is very clear and speed and siebert thank you both for real good advice and i do stay out until my fingers are so cold they are hot

up here in pa its cold like most of the rest of the us but the crik i fish still isnt low 30s yet id say high 30s low 40s with mid day temps roughly mid 40s but aside from that my question is i use crawdads a bulk majority since i fish primarily shallow water maybe max 7ft in certain areas but we havent had any rain for a while so its a little low so with that should i use craws that have more action in the claws or less action and i fish them primarily in texas rig or some variation of that

Atm im running 30# power pro with a 10# p line fluroclear leader it works pretty well all around since I use my spinning set up for crik smallies which in a bulk amount of time im throwing 1/4oz or lighter for my baits

That's what I was curious about cause I would use 8# and I used the 100% fc and hated it on my spinning set up

has anyone used it yet? i see it is made for specifically for spinning set ups and i always had bad luck with fc as my main line on spinning set up so my question is if you have used it how do you like it, what # line do you use and how abrasion resistant is it/ how does it handle over all on the reel and while working a lure all input would help so i know if i should blow the 20$

so finally tw started carrying the 3d craw but the mind blowing thing is there is no green pumpkin so i saw one called candy and my question is exactly what is the base color? i can see the purple flakes but i cant really tell what the body color is

does anyone kno where can i buy the big bite baits real deal craw in the hd colors? tw only has the basic colors and on big bite website they show the hd colored ones they only come in a 3pk but the crawdad color matches the local forage perfectly and wanna know where to buy it

i know tackle warehouse as the regular lunker hunt frog but not the pocket but they do have the new big bite bait craw which looks incredible and does anyone know when savagegear is bringing out their 3d craw?

yeah it works ok the only thing i noticed lately with it is getting loops in the braid on the spool nothing serious just really annoying

ive been using braid for a little time now on my shimano stradic and my ive been using 8# stren as a base before i put on the braid my question is does adding a mono backing help or make it worse for the braid overall in performance

im just wondering if anyone has used it yet i was reading it said its a fc made for spinning reels i thought it would be perfect for my spinning set up that i run braid and use this as a leader but i didnt have good times with the original 100% fc so i was wondering if anyone used this
