  1. thanks for the advice and yeah i do use line conditioner regularly and thats perfect its good on spinning gear cause thats what i use in the crik thanks again
  2. im on the hunt for a new line that has really good abrasion resistance since mainly where i fish is a shallow crik with a lot of chunk rock and limestone ive been using berkley xt but the line is so thick its tough to get good cast and p-line cxx strong has way to much memory and just flies off the spool and p line fluroclear is alright so if anyone has any lines they've used that has really good abrasion resistance please let me know doesnt matter if its fluro or mono but no braid for me
  3. ive downsized my bait to a 2.75" craw and ive been trying to hold off its just sometimes im walking along in the shallows and then one just slowly cruises up near me luckily i think we have a cold front coming through this week im hoping the bite will pick back up
  4. thanks for the tips ive been doing the same thing going early before the sun creeps in its just so painful seeing a nice bruiser sitting there 5 feet infront of you and knowing you cant do anything about it
  5. well like most areas in the us ive been hit hard be hot weather and no rain and lately the bite has died at the crik i can see a lot of smallies but they are just holding in the current and not making an attempt at any baits i run by them i know its probably due to the heat we've had and no rain but does anyone have any tips on baits i can use to maybe get a strike from them ive tried top water cranks lipless cranks soft plastics etc even my go to soft plastic craw hasn't produced bites i need help asap
  6. thanks so much for the tips im gonna start making my own bullet weights and jigs
  7. what kind of craw and what kind of jig do you use because i love that set up its perfect id probaly go max 1/4oz probably more 3/16 or 1/8
  8. That's what I was thinking cause ill use a yum crawbug in green pumpkin since it looks the closest thing thing to a crawdad but by any chance copuld you show me some pictures of the jig you make so I can try it out and what size weight do you use cause I've been mainly using an 1/8 oz since the crik is so low
  9. thats what i thought too i wasnt a 100% but pretty sure thanks
  10. i fish the crik a lot for smallies and throw out a lot of craw style baits and my question is in clearer water do you think they react to the shape and movement of the bait or the color of the bait
  11. i live in pa and like everyone else gotta be specific i fish the conodoguinet all the time since its in my backyard and my got to is any type of craw bait in green pumpkin with a little orange tipped on the pincers matches the locale forage perfectly and big bronzes smash them
  12. alls i do is fish criks now and my hands down best bait in my area yum crawbug in green pumpking rigged on a 1/8 oz bullet weight i cast parallel to the shoreline or cast down stream slowly dragging it up over the limestone into pools they smash them around my area or any type of craw bait works pretty well for me and in early morning or dusk torpedo
  13. thanks man ive been using a lot of soft plastic ones cause all the lime stone i got in the creek but hands down they love craw dads more than anything else they will smash them when your slow crawling them across the rock i do like the river2sea cause the weedless guard which is real nice in my situation where the rock will catch it a lot
  14. i believe it i mean for the money you cant beat it if i had money for a g loomis or st croix id go that root but im 20 years old i only work part time and honestly after gas and things like that all my money goes to bps ha while on the topic what are your guys favorite craw style baits ive been using the bps crack craw but noticed the claws break off easily and im on the hunt for something new similiar to those but a little more strong any suggestions?
  15. st croix is extremely nice but sadly i dont have that kinda money to shell out so ive decided with the fenwick it sounds like a great rod and everyone who owns one on here seems to love them
  16. thanks for all your help im deff gonna go that route thanks for the help
  17. out of the 3 rods how many were damaged
  18. well mainly because my pond/lake rod is a 6'6 mh action and im throwing lighter baits so i wanted to stick with a slightly shorter rod with medium action and i saw sears was the cheapest my question is how well is sears with customer service just in case because i was thinking about going through them since they are about 20 dollars cheaper than anywhere else and yeah i decided on the 6'3 m/f rod
  19. gall posted a gallery image in Smallmouth Trophy Room
  20. im on the hunt for a new spinning rod for mainly small mouth fishing in my creek right now i use a bps tourney special rod in a 6ft medium action its a good rod but i want to buy something a little nicer i have a shimano saraha fd reel with 10lb line on it the reel works perfect just want a new rod since i just got a new set up for lake and pond fishing any suggestions would be great trying to spend no more than 120 for a rod
  21. thank you so much for that tip im glad you know exactly what im talking about where do you get the silicone from
  22. ha i know it holds up very well and its only when i lose a good fish the reel holds up great to my abuse ha the only issue is the whole bail arm i'm afraid to sand it down due to the fact i could totally ruin the whole thing i really do like the pinnacle too they seem like very nice looking reels
  23. thanks now i got a better idea of what that means thanks again
  24. ive been reading all different types of articles and everything and they always talk about hold your rod at 10 o clock 9 o clock 2 o clock etc and i dont understand what they mean would anyone fill me in so i get a better understanding cause this is driving me up a wall
