  1. yeah sorry for causing a huge fight i should have specified its for a spinning reel so far the two lines i used was p line fluroclear and trilene xl smooth casting i mainly fish farm ponds which are for the most part are in the spring and summer lots of slop and cat tails and the other one i fish in certain areas has a lot of brush and timber i also fish my creek which is a lot of lime stone rock but for the almost whole part its pond that either come down to pretty soft bottom with a lot of submerged vegatation or ones with a lot of timber and once again vegatation or the one is mainly in summer lots of top water slop so i used p line it was pretty good line but in certain cases i wanted to use a topwater frog but the line being "coated" wasnt such a good thing ive looked at both suffix and the new seagur but so far no one has had reviews on the seagur so im kinda curious about the suffix elite if anyone uses it and has any opionion on it
  2. has anyone tried out the new seagur mono line? but yeah right now i use trilene xl smooth casting its good and all but i want something that has a little more toughness cause i will use a lot of different lures on the same reel and rod like cranks topwater worms etc
  3. ive been on the hunt for new monofilament line and ive been having trouble to find a mid way between sensitivity and strength anyone have any lines they like i use primarly p line fluroclear but im looking for a line that has a little more sensitivity anyone have any lines they really like all tips and input would be great
  4. i was looking at them for a new spinning rod since they are cheaper then the carrot stix or duckett i was wondering if anyone has used them or checked them out yet for the price they have everything i want (im not to concerned about the whole micro guide deal)
  5. thanks for the input about the rods i was looking at the duckett and they are pretty nice ill probably go with that one
  6. yeah like i said im not to worried about the whole micro guide thing just want a good split grip spinning rod
  7. i'm in the market for a new spinning rod and came across the carrot stix wild black it looks like a good rod and added bonus the micro guides but before i spend a 120 bucks i wanna know anyones input on it and find out if its worth the money or i should go a different route i preferably want a 6'6 m-mh rod with a split grip design not to worried about the whole micro guide but want good sensitivity and pretty good back bone any advice would be nice
  8. i have a cl reel and i love it but i did see the jm cl and i was also thinking about that for a new reel the cl is extremely light and great reel i bet the jm will just be even better im in the same boat of deciding what kind of new reel i should invest in im thinking about the jm one for 160 but unsure still
  9. thanks for your tips do you guys build custom rods because that was another thing i was looking into since you know being in pa the weather for good bass fishing is really slowing down and i needed something to do in the winter so i was considering building my own rod but if you guys build custom rods i might just take that route i usually use either mono or fluro on my reels but those tips were helpful i really gotta think about somethings is it true it helps reduce line twist too in a spinning set up?
  10. i was just reading the latest issue of bass masters and there was an article on the whole microguide craze i can understand the pros of having it for a trigger rod but is there any significant pros of having it on a spinning reel i do understand the guide closes to the reel seat will have to be regular size but any tips would be great because i'm looking for a new spinning rod preferably with a split grip if it comes down to no real pros of microguide ill go just with a regular split grip rod but any help would be nice
  11. thank you everyone for your input i went to bps over the weekend and tried on a few different pairs of costas and ive decided to go with the tailfins in 580g with the green mirror lenses i also looked at oakleys but at the same price their not even polarized which i find to be a waste of money and the tailfins fit my face perfectly and i talked to the lady and she said the green mirror would be the best for the types of fishing i do
  12. thanks for all your help thats my exact problem myself with the choice of lenses ha i fish a lot of ponds and the creek and theres so many choices and im not sure which lenses to go with and thanks for the tip about trying them on because i noticed theres really no guide on what size would fit my face so anyone have on tips for lenses choice i fish a lot throughout the whole year mostly ponds and creeks i was thinking silver mirror but at the same time im not sure any suggestions would be great
  13. i have a pair of 30 dollar b.a.s.s sunglasses that i purchased from bps about 6 months back they are nice sunglasses and all but theres just a lot of cons about them and i started searching for a new pair i really do like the costa brand sunglasses but theres just so many options and choices for lenses and everything else but i do need a pair of polarized lenses and money isnt much of a concern so can anyone help give me suggestions or anyone who owns costa will give me feed back thanks
  14. yeah i weighed her thats what it said i mean i am using a berkley digital so idk exactly how accurate but she was a nice one the only problem about the pond is its about a 1/8 acre so its not a large pond if it was bigger theyd be a lot bigger kinda a shame but still nice for such a small pond
  15. yeah im thinking about the johnny morris black i like the looks and was playing with it yesterday at my bps and i think im sold with that one its a little more than the carbon black but i like the feel of it better then the cb so thanks for everyones input
  16. thanks for all your tips today i went and used a 4 1/2 inch bps sticko worm and was twitching along its really clear water and senile 1 you were right i was twiching it a long when i saw her casually stroll out of the cat tails and whamo she was a 20 inch 3 1/4 beauty they are exactly where you said in the cat tails and i went back to my good ol favorite zoom trick worms and let it slowly sink on the edges and thats exactly where they were thanks
  17. thanks for all your input sorry i was at cabelas website and went right ot the reel page and i saw the regular price idk im still split its a tough decision for me im not 100% sure yet i have a shimanno spinning reel and i love it
  18. i was looking at them and still as of now there over 250 but luckily its starting to get cold so my fishing will slow down which will give me time to save up since all i will do is work but i do have a bps carbonlite reel i love it but id like to have a new one just in case i love bps products they do a great job if there is any problems so as of now im split
  19. ive been wanting to get a new baitcaster and i was looking at bps and saw bother the pro qualifer which had amazing reviews and a good price i also saw the johnny morris one which is a little bit pricer about 160 both seem like nice reels and i was wondering if anybody has either one and if they do which one do they prefer
  20. i fish a lot of rather small ponds the largest being 2 acres max and the one pond i fish no more than quater acre has rather large bass and lately we've been having rather weird weather monday was no warmer then 50 and yesterday was 75 i went and fished there yesterday and not a single hit i went through all my baits from worms to cranks shallow water to deep water any idea where they might be the water is no more then 10 feet deep with a slow and easy drop to the deep part from the shallows not that much structure other than a lot of cat tails which are almost completely sumberged due to the large amount of rain we have had
  21. thanks ill have to check that out too and that little pocket thermoterer is perfect cause latley we've been having mid 40s nights and just up and down weather its kinda getting hard to even gauge what its gonna be like for air temp
  22. thanks everyone for your help the reason i ask is because right now we just got nailed by an early cold front about 46 at night and 3 days ago it was pushing 80 during the day but i try to watch the wild life only problem only a heron will fly by occisoanlly and for the most part not much the pond is pretty small probably about half acre at the most but the fish are huge and speaking of bank fishing does anyone clear spots that are overly vegatated on the bank because ive been using pruners and clipers but that only does so much and i was hoping someone would have an idea that is better then all that manual labor
  23. i was on bps website and saw those plano waterproof containers and im looking for something that i can put a cell phone and wallet into and keep it safe from water weather it be rain or anything in those lines has anyone used those planos or does anyone have any other ideas that will work it doesnt need to be to big just for a wallet cell phone and a landyard with 2 keys on it but must be a true waterproof container
  24. how much did the thing from petsmart cost because i was honestly looking at one of those thermoteres people use for their pools lol but yeah idk how reliable those "fish finders" are and i just want something basic but at least someone knows how i feel when alls you got is your tackle bag and rod and a strip of land
  25. i do a lot of fishing at small farm ponds and small bodies of water and well the problems i have are a. i dont own a boat b. i dont have any electronics to give me depth temperature or anything like that and 3. i do most of my fishing from the bank and i was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could get the water temperature like anyone use anything like thermoeters or anything please give me any ideas im desperate
