  1. thanks for the tips and rooster your right i was looking at the digrams and it had all the reels in that series and they all do have different grips
  2. gall posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
i just recently got a snag proof series topwater mouse and well ive fished a lot of hollow body and soft plastic frogs with great success and i was wondering if i should have a different presentation with the mouse or present it as i do with the frog which is small retrieves stop twitch let it sit for 30 seconds or a slow retireve with a pop from pulling my rod tip (those 2 presentations have had my frog blown up by a lot of bass)
  3. i have shimano sedona fd reel i love the reel but i dont like the grip on it the thing is over sized and it just feels uncomfortable to meet and i was wondering if anyone knew if i can buy a replacement one but smaller from anywhere or any other ideas heres what im talking about
  4. i was looking for a small water craft to fish a lot of ponds and the creek which is all around my area i have a canoe now but the only problem is when i wanna go by myself its way to much work for the canoe so i looked at kayaks then i came across the pontoon boat things theres so many i saw and well im not a fly fisherman but that seems to be the exact thing i want for my needs but now the only problem is idk which one to choose so does anyone have any ideas or own any input would be amazing cause im stumped but i dont wanna forget im not on a huge budget ill be willing to go up to 500 probably less but any suggestions would be great
  5. i was flipping through the acutal catalog for bps and came across the abu garcia cardinal 500 albi it seemms pretty nice for an 80 dollar reel so i went onto the website to look at it and it had good reviews and a good rating but they said the product is no longer for sale or whatever but the the reviews were from 2011 and the catalog is the 2011 summer angler do you think theyll have them in the store? cause i think thats the reel i want but idk if it will be for sale
  6. yeah well what happens to me is hes a silent killer i use the weightless zoom trick worm and leave is slacked he slowly picks it up and you dont know when i start to take out some slack then its like hitting a wall then he starts peeling out and i loosen up my drag a whole lot and he just doesnt wear down then he always hangs in the same area right where there are a few fallen trees and a lot of underwater branches and timber he is my nemisis i found out that its a 9+lb i know a guy who does landscaping there and he caught it a few months back and told me that it is a big fighter but thanks for your help i was thinking about that reel 129 isnt to bad i mean the reviews are extremly solid so i think ill go with that one
  7. i also saw this one which is a little bit cheaper but still has good standings looking at the reviews Shimano® Sahara® FD Spinning Reels
  8. i was looking at bps website and saw the Shimano® Saros F Spinning Reels reel it looks like a good solid reel with good reviews and a solid rating i was wondering if anyone used it or anything cause i was looking at that or the bps johnny morris spinning reel
  9. thanks for all your help i forgot to mention that budget isnt in my vocab on this trip (birthday was yesterday got about 150$ in gift cards and friday is pay day worked about 50 hours the past 2 weeks so add about another 450 on to that) i was looking at spinning reels and rods i like the bps tourney special for the price for 50 dollars it has a lot of good reviews and a very good rating but the only problem is idk what kind of reel to get still i want to get a reel that stands up pretty well and has a good spool limit cause i have 8lb and theres a big boy in there who cuts it up like butter) since price isnt much of a concern what kind of reel would you guys choose?
  10. im going to bps friday and wanna get a new spinning set up for the use of my weightless set up ive been using heavily and i have a 5'6 light action rod which doesnt have the power or strength to rip out some of the fish in that hit it the main concern is its a small pond and i fish it from the banks and theres a lot of trees and other goodies to get caught up in when trying to cast so i wanted to get a 6 foot rod and a slightly larger reel with a higher line spooling preferbly 10lb or larger test ( theres monster bass in this pond one snapped my line 4 days in a row now!) so anyone have any ideas on what kind of reel and rod i should get im looking for a 6ft spinning rod with some backbone and sensitivy and a decent reel that can hold larger lb test
  11. i cleaned it out full yesterday so im gonna head out today and make sure its working if its still having problems i might take it to bps and see what they can do
  12. thanks ill have to go reclean it and oil/lube it if the problem persist any other ideas what it might be?
  13. i just recently got my replacement side palm for my bps carbonlite reel and i put it on and it fits great but the problem im having now is when i go to cast the reel has a high pitched squeel as the bait is being casted out and it is stopping short from the usual distance i usally can put it out a good distance now its maybe going out 20 feet maxium while its doing that it has that high pitched squeel as the its casting which before it was never that loud anyone know what the problem might be? is it the spool or what cauase its my favorite reel but its been non stop problems lately
  14. thanks for the info like the worst thing of us is its like a jungle of underwater vegation right underneath it too lol its a tough spot but holds some trophies
  15. ive tried that it like fits in the grovers put wont move to lock it into postion it gets stuck
  16. yes that is exactly what it looks like and underneath its sumbergent vegation
  17. i got a bps carbonlite reel and the side palm plate where you take it off to clean your spool i have mine off to clean it came off easily but the problem now is it wont re attach ive tried a million times and cant figure out why it will not lock back into position any ideas why it wont relock?
  18. thanks for all the ideas i been using a texas rig a lot the only problem is they have a fountain in the middle of the pond and its always shifting around the topwater muck
  19. ive been fishing my friends pond a lot latley mainly due to the fact its an old farm pond with some lunkers in it and no one ever fishes it since its private property. recently since theres been a lot of heat and no rain theres been a lot of topwater alage and it gunks up just about every lure i have ive been using frogs and worms to weightless it right under the alage the only other problem there is a lot of sumberged veg too i think hydrilla does anyone have any other lures that might prove effective for this type of top and underwater vegatation. Even when running it weedless i still get a lot of hang ups in the underwater vegatation so any ideas on what to use would be great
  20. haha yeah im gonna make a call and get a replacement and sadly if i didnt lived 18 hours away i totally would i have the same problem when i go to my local bps i usally have someone come with me to keep me under control and put me on a limit.Bps is like my mall to woman its horrible i never leave empty handed when i go but how much do you guys think it will cost for a side palm plate
  21. yeah im heading to bps tomorrow to see what i can do thats the only thing wrong and alls i need is a new side plate to have it back in order do they have them in stores or do you think it has to be ordered in?
  22. just today i broke my left side palming plate when i was cleaning my reel ( i accidently broke the plastic things that slide into place when taking it off and putting it back on) they are small little plastic pieces and without them i cant attach my palmplate back on. so i was looking at bps and saw they do rod and reel repairs i started looking and they were telling about the types of reels they repair and i saw they repaired pro qualifer and other reels from other brands i have a carbonlite reel and it wasnt mentioed but its a newer reel on the market by that i mean not discontiuned and its a bps reel also so i was wondering if anyone knows if they will fix it or not because im not spending a 120 dollars to get a new one
  23. i have plenty of frogs already (almost a full box full) ranging from the bps kermey to spro frogs and scum frogs. but i was really curious about the snakes have you ever used the bog bait snakes if sso what kind cause they have so many and i just wanna buy like 3 types
  24. thats what i was worried about so i just bought zoom trick worms that sink really slow and are just gonna use them thanks everyone
  25. i was online looking around at soft plastic bait lures ive seen the bass professor one but im not gonna spend 40 dollars for 18 snakes so i kept searching and came across bog baits they have many different types of snakes for a reasonable price and they include the hooks for rigging them but i can only get them from the website so i wanted to know if they acutally work or are worth it id love to know cause i wanna use something like that for a pond i fish which has many different wildlife for some of the big hogs that live in there would munch on (its an old farm pond theres a few bass pushing the 7+lb range and one i call big mama who easily pushes 10 pounds i thought it was a stump when i first saw it) but please let me know if i should go spend the money or get some ideas that would do that same concept
