  1. I figured with those style of swimbaits and that size overall weight isnt like a gambler ez. Those with an 1/8oz swimbait hook I can use casting gear. I knew I would be getting split decisions, but I think blue basser answered it perfectly for me.
  2. I forgot to mention I wet wade or kayak, but that being said not much cover aside from hard cover ie boulders and all that. When you guys throw them do you any of use braid to a leader or a straight fc or mono or copy?
  3. So Ive really wanted to get unto throwing smaller soft plastic swimbait for the local creek and river smallies. Sizes like the 3.8 and below Keitechs, bps etc. It's mainly shallow less then 5gt where I fish, so I thought between the swimbait and an 1/8oz jighead would cover it even with current. So my question is do you think I'd be better throwing it on casting gear or spinning gear?
  4. I've been wanting to ask the same thing someone beat me to the punch. Not trying to hijack just curious is ball head better then swimbait jig heads for moving water? I saw the outkast goldeneye and really like them.
  5. Yeah that's what I was worried about I have a mojo spinning love the rod. Still might just go with the bucco sr. For the the price tag of 100 can't go wrong I feel like, maybe a dobyns furry it's tough with so many choices our three now a days.
  6. So my one local Walmart has a bucco micro 6'10 heavy "Flippin" stick for 100$. I'm in the market for a new multi purpose casting rod anyways. Do you guys think it's a decent multi purpose or should I look elsewhere?
  7. I might have to pull the trigger and Hookrz small world it if you belong to another forum similar to this one. You've literally given me advice on both ha
  8. Have you guys ever ordered from them? I get their promo emails and was eyeballing the rod. It sounds like a lot of people either say that lews or the dobyns furry for that price point. I'm not sure how I feel about the microwave guides on a casting rod though.
  9. Thanks guys for everyone's input I'll have to start narrowing it done. When I say old carbonlite I mean the black ones they haven't made for a few years now.
  10. Croak that's good to know you like it I've eyeballs it a few times. Reason if I had a boat I would without a doubt have a ton more rods and reels, but sadly apace is limited for me, but like you said 6'6,7ft is a good LL around. And new arr they the ones with the I wanna say carbon tip? I read somewhere people complaininf about being fragile.
  11. So 4 power rod it is ha. Has anyone had experience with the falcon bucco the new one that's Grey? I have the mentality get 2 cheaper Rods and have 2 slightly more purpose Rods.
  12. I'll have to. Check them both out. I was lookin at the fury does it fish pretty close to the power or light or heavier?
  13. I'm. Looking for a decent multipurpose casting rod. I had an old carbonlite mh that was perfect, but now it's Florida. So I'm on the hunt again I use more spinning gear for the areas I fish so hence the reason for multiple purposes. I would like something max length 7ft with a pretty decent weight range of baits (1/4oz-3/4oz preferred). That being said im. Also open to mh rods rates 3/8-3/4 I'd they can bet away with throwing slightly lighter baits. Last thing no xf action. I guess I'll set the budget to 150$ but willing to go a little over if need be.

That rifht there. I also use the internal tube weights and I lvoe them in certain situations. His set up is pretty much identical to mine ironically. i have some line twist issues on occasion but not too often
  15. gall replied to JigMaster4's topic in Fishing Tackle
I use spinning tackle for mine, but I'm also using light weight 1/8oz-3/16oz jig heads. Like angry John said the hook eye angle is huge I personally like 60°myself. That's also due to the fact 98%" of thr tube fishing I'm doing is rock slabs, with current and dragging it. That being said I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use bc set up.
  16. Kbeeb I asked myself the same thing. So logically I went to Google, and so glad I did now I know what walmart to hit for fishing tackle it will tell you roughly inventory of stores in area, prices etc.
  17. Spankey I'm in central PA and know how you feel. The weather has been all over the place and of course first day off and it rained all day and night till 3am today. So much for the moving waters I was lookin forward to pond hopping it is.
  18. Yeah luckily my waters I can switch areas prety easily and have no grass areas but always will have leaves. Spankey I know what you mean I saw some holding off a lone bolder tries everything in the book, but they weren't having it. Then last week I connected with a 19" stud on a fluke around a large branch holding in a an Eddie. they were fighting to get it and he's the one that took.
  19. Can one of the r guys who tie fg knot tell me what I'm doing wrong. I go away and to me like I should and tighten after each wrap but I can't get the braid to coil. I take it up under pull down then down under up. It seems I'm doing something wrong though, I just can't figure out what I'm messing up to not get the coils
  20. So how you get the coils they always show in the early steps? Every time I do the to rod back to me I never manage to get the coils. Not sure what I'm doing wrong either ha.
  21. Croak you tied it with an fg knot? I can't tell you how many times I've tried that knot and always end up messing it up. I think I usually mess it up during the up and down motion of thr leader.
  22. If I had my reels close at hand I would send a pic of my tag ends. That being said I was reading somewhere the person said fg knot isn't the best for light braid lines (20# or less). Does anyone know if that's true or not? I use 15# 832
  23. I guess whwn I say a tag I'm talking fractions of an inch. Like maybe a 1/64 tag if that.
  24. Craww thanks for the advice. I'll have to try and find out the finishing knot. I haven't had a leader slip (knock on wood) yet. Like you said it's always in my mind. I always take it as close as I can with thr tag end, I'll have to try tying it it a knot and see if I notice a difference. I feel like it's a dumb question, but any time you read anything about knots they never say how much to trim.
  25. I was just curious as to how much people leave on when they do a braid to leader. I'm always worried that I might take too much off and it slip, or leave to much on and effect casting. So I figured what better place to get opinions then on here. I should. Mention I use an alberto knot, would love to use fg but still working at it.
