  1. Can you explain further about drag locks down at 10lbs. I am a newbe to understanding BC more indepth. Does it mean anything over 10lb can cause drag to loose?
  2. Yes I have backing and could see spool move with line.
  3. I went out today with my new chronarch. I noticed that even with drag all the way tight I could pull line out if I pulled hard enough. I was thinking I shoukn't be able to pull at all with tight drag, am I wrong? It has 50lb pp on it. The spoolis turning and not just the line, it does have black tape backing. THANKS
  4. Went out this evening to fish a frog with power pro. I did well this time with only one small backlash, not bad for first time out on water with it. Now I dont feel so intimidated fishing my BC with braid.
  5. I was excited to try soft frog on 50lb PP on my BC but after a couple casts from the bank before getting in boat it bird nested bad and was unable to fix it. Had to put in truck. I had one hit on too. I think the problem was I should have had braking on 3 instead of 2. After fixing line I put on 3 brakes it cast well in my yard even with a little zip to cast. Was bummed because first time using reel as well.
  6. Anyone try it yet? Has was it?
  7. I have been a little intimated by braid on baitcaster because I read where it's takes more skill but I have gotten good with mono so maybe I need to face my fear and try it.
  8. I fish from kayak with only one baitcaster. I use it mainly for spinnerbaits or topwater. I want try a soft frog, is fluoro a bad idea? Any all around line you recommend? I guessI need to try braid but doubting my skill level with it on baitcaster even though I haven't tried it yet. Thanks!
  9. Gonna give them a try soon, I know some fish with weighted hook and some weightless. What is advantage of weight vs weightless? Also hook do you use? THANKS!
  10. Got my chronarch yesterday, boy is it a lot easier to cast then my accurist. I see longer cast and less backlashes in my future.
  11. On morning of the 4th, we went fishing to some nice ponds that are connected by a swamp. I used a Roboworm which the fish hit hard. I caught 5 on that set up. I will be doing it again. Couple things that happened: Used a lot of roboworm. if cast lands in trees or bushes it is not very forgiving.
  12. What kind of hook was used with the small senko?
  13. I fished the dropshot for first time today in murky water. I used the Roboworm, caught about 5 on it including a huge bowfin fish. As Kevin22 indicated, something with a lot of action is key.
  14. I want to try this setup the next time I go but never done it before. I will be fishing at a large pond. I have seen some hooks at Dicks that is made for dropshot but hook looks too small to me. Any tips for a beginner would be appreciated. Thanks!
  15. I use spinning reel with 6lb line. Maybe my casting technique is an issue. I will give it another go.
  16. Well, I havent fished a lot of them, but original floating minnow same size cast farther to me.
  17. Wanted to try the scatter because it seems like fun lure to try but noticed it is a lite weight lure and doesnt seem to cast as far as I would like. Anyone notice the same?
  18. Been on reel and hardly used for 4-5 years. Thinking of using this week since baitcaster broke. Will it be weak after so long?
  19. It's a Malibu Mini X, it's only 9ft long but serves me well here in tight swamp areas and ponds, been using it for like 6 years. I max out at three rods. I have been just using baitcaster for buzz/spinner baits but avoided plastics because smaller weight casting is something I have avoided but would like to start using caster for them. Most of the waters I fish are far from clear so don't think using braid direct would be a problem.
  20. I fish from small kayak so I can't take a lot of rods. What all purpose line would you recommend for spinnerbaits, topwater and plastics?
