  1. Switched to suffix 8lb and couls tell right off the difference. Caught 14 today with 13 of them from jerkbaits. Of course, this helps with confidence in them. Got a floating jb for the shallow areas, that's what I caught most of them with it. Thanks for the tips!
  2. Thanks for the help, I know these are rookie questions.
  3. I got a medium fast action for crankbaits and want to use for jerk baits, but could this be too soft for jerbaits?
  4. What I meant I didn't know that specific bait came in different number sizes. Kinda of a rookie with hard baits, but wanting to get into them this year. Had some success on cranks towards end of last year, so it peaked my interested to get into them. Appreciate the tips. Thanks
  5. Thanks for the input. It was on a spinning reel with 10lb suffix elite. Will have to find out which number jerk bait. Didn't know there was different ones.
  6. I have a slow action rod with mono.
  7. It was a Yamamoto jerkbait. It just seem like small hooks to me but I am not experienced with it to know for sure.
  8. I had a nice size fish get off today while using a jerk bait. I was wondering if changing to larger hooks would help in keeping fish on. I don't have a lot of experience using them so any general tips would be appreciated as well. Thanks!!
  9. I am not experienced in fishing cold waters. My favorite place is two ponds connected by a shallow swamp area. The depth on the ponds varies greatly with max Probably around seven feet. I am in eastern NC I know the presentation should be slower, but what baits should I be throwing? I was thinking can baits or plastics. Thanks!!
  10. Hello, I know with crank baits the rod should be medium with mono line due to the treble hooks on cranks, but does the same apply for topwater baits with treble hooks? Like can I use the same setup for poppers? Thanks!
  11. If so, how did you like them?
  12. Just practiced casting with 15lb invizx, it did OK. I can see how it will need some weight to the lure. May have to downside the line but I tend to favor stronger lines for power, might need to change that approach.
  13. Off topic, but what is difference between suffix seige vs elite?
  14. This makes wonder if I should have went with the carbonlite.
  15. So it boils done to a trade off castability vs power hook set and which one you like the best. How much do you think it actually affects casting? I was wondering if I should use mono or a fluorocarbon with stretch since it is so stiff but I do like the power to set the hook too.
  16. I bought a veritas rod yesterday over the carbonlite because it seemed to have faster action. Wondering today if there is such a thing as too much stiffness/action for a worm/jig rod. Like if I put braid on it would it be too much?
  17. Does the yo zuri hydrid line stretch more than fluorocarbon?
  18. I have been using the Palomar knot for everything, will that be ok for fluorocarbon?
  19. Just bought me a set up for worm/jigs. Thinking of using fluorocarbon line, what should be the max lb? Also, letting me know what kind you use would be helpful? Thanks!
  20. That's what some are saying. The micros guides helps sensitivity but some lines have issues sliding through the guides. Braid not an issue.
