Time to start testing the fisherman for PEDs

I fish from shore for fun so much of that is moot to me. It just that its ...oh a fish is on...reel 3 seconds, its in. Repeat for 6-8hrs at times depending on the gear and where Im fishing. Once in a while Ill hook a mayan cichlid, cat, or snakehead and itll change the tempo up at times.

The braking options off the pq, has bells and whistles of more expensive reels. The fact it has a no hassle warranty for a year is easy enough in my book I have a lews tournament MG and PQ so not being biased.

I have been shying away from heavier # lines recently and have been looking at some light tackle/finesse outfits in casting and spinning for open areas to make bass fishing more exciting. I got slightly tired of horsing fish to shore and even when playing the fish a bit, it can be a bit too easy at times. I just watched a swimbait video and even with huge fish being caught which is expected on these lures, the bass were getting into the boat in about 10 seconds if that at times, almost effortless.

The wooden model knob version is the older design. Slightly heavier, should have 2 spools. The newer one comes with a braid ready spool, rubber knob and weight savings.The bail on the newer one may be improved also

Its pretty versatile. The tip is designed bit softer but it works well with both treble lures and the spinnerbaits. My friend uses his for frogs. I throw cranks/spinners and top water on a crankbait rod and it works well, the action is similar to the tip of the berkley rod you have. Id get a bottom contact rod as someone said for casting. Tons of choices in the hundred dollar range on sale now. Carbonlites as I recc'd work as well as veritas,mojo, etc. Between those 2 rods and reels you can cover many applications in casting and the same in spinning

The shock is also 10 dollars cheaper at walmart (most have them) off the shelf 39.99 new. That would be me based on the rods listed and your budget is way under with that.

Maybe some carbonlites? Id put either the citica or pq on one (swapping the rods if need be). Put the president on a 6-6 to 7ft medium depending on balance. Id use the bps sale to your advantage which I assume you are going to do.

Posting a max budget would be a better idea for answers imo, then we go from there. example of what you may want.. Inexpensive/quality combo from academy: h20 mettle reel(50 bucks) ethos rod 50-60 dollars= 110 total BPS has a combo for 70 dollars at the moment (bionic plus) video of the academy combo for eye candy purposes

ok thanks, that wind and front was sounding bad off the general forecast I googled...we were in doubt based on the factors involved but 13mph wind didnt sound fun

My buddy planned a trip for us to Lake Okeechobee for this Sunday. It says the weather should be 63 degrees, 20% chance of rain and a 13mph wind. I think a cold/cool front comes in on Friday or so. Do you think this is good fishing conditions, he is renting a boat so I would rather adjust it if need be than for him to waste his money and we end up with a horrible fishing experience. I fish from shore, don't know anything about Lake O, if the fishing should be good there with the conditions expected nor driving a boat so Id rather reschedule if we need to. Any advice from experienced fishermen would be helpful

I dont unless they bend or break, luckily what I buy seems sharp enough. Ive broken kvd 1.5 hooks by either catching huge turtles and getting in fights on the bank or with the pliers trying to remove one. One turtle actually pulled the loop out of the lure where the split ring attaches so it became a keychain. Lures cost enough already IMO. I used some mustad hook as a replacement, may buy some vmc in bulk later just to have on hand.

I need to fish a high end rod to see what Im missing...maybe I can talk a friend into buying one. Enjoy your purchase!

You should be fine with that. I traded in a push button combo I found last year, similar style to the zebco and it worked. I found another rod and reel the other day someone left by a canal in an industrial park that Ill trade in also.

If you want a more stout feeling fishing rod, Id get the veritas. I have a few and I love them, plus the lure weight rating is 1/4-1oz on the mh f...covers you in many aspects the falcon is 1/4 to 3/4 on the mh and 3/8 to 1oz in the heavy fast They are both nice rods either way, I know ABU has great customer service...not sure about Falcon, the video below says he hasnt gotten a replacement in the comments, which sucks
