  1. I was cruising Cabela's and saw this: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/Fishing/Reels|/pc/105591780/c/105740280/sc/105742980/Cabelas-50th-Anniversary-Zillion8482-by-Daiwa/1157716.uts?destination=/catalog/browse/bargain-cave-fishing-reels/_/N-1102770/Ns-CATEGORY_SEQ_105742980%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat105591780%253Bcat105740280&WTz_l=SBC;cat105591780;cat105740280;cat105742980, not sure exactly, but if its a normal Zillion painted up for Cabelas seems like itd be a pretty good deal. 2. A serious risk I had yet to think of Looks like a great time, Im looking to get on some SM one of these days, just involves a trip. NGaHB
  3. Personal opinion or researched fact? NGaHB
  4. I've got quite a few fish as one falls. Missed twice as many tho, the hook up ratios at the fall hasnt been too good for me. NGaHB
  5. Im partial to Kistler performance, but really *** the worth a d**n warranties offered by other manufacturers. That being said, I have nothing but good things to say about my Helium LTA's, I have two and regularly use two others. http://www.ebay.com/itm/KISTLER-HELIUM-LTA-2011-HE70MHC-7-M-H-CASTING-ROD-/310324897827?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4840ce2823#ht_1931wt_956 NGaHB
  6. I'm goin large mouth. Next time close the mouth, draw a straight line down through the eye and youll see the mouth passing through that line, Large Mouth. Also feel on the tongue and a spot will have a patch of sand paper. The reason I say LM on that is the mouth size is about what I'd expect to see on a ~12" Spot. NGaHB
  7. Didn't realize that. Makes ya think twice. NGaHB
  8. I believe matt from matt lures has an account here, and hes active over on swimbait nation, I would ask him, or read up there. I see him speaking well of Okumas if I remember correct
  9. A while back we were fishing from a friends private lake and transporting some bass to another friends pond. I was fishing a spinner bait, felt a hit, set the hook, then dead weight. The bass, ~12", fell off the bait when I lifted it up. Come to find out the hook had gone through the bass's eye and pulled the eye out when I lifted it up. Thought she was going to die, or was already dead, but the bass is still alive and kickin in his pond. NGaHB
  10. Keep those pics comin Frog NGaHB
  11. Thanks guys, I appreciate yalls help on getting this area figgured out. Endless- get that double blade buzz bait in the water soon, I have torn em up on a big bulky no name one I have, but be ready to change between different buzzbaits.
  12. Darker lets me used braid without a leader, which i appreciate. Also allows for some loud fast paced baits, cant complain about that. NGaHB
  13. Thanks to the help from everyone who responded to this thread: http://www.bassresou...coaxing-a-bite/, I had a real good day of fishing today. I managed to get my first documented jig fish, still one of very few, but looking to change that. I was fishing around getting plenty of short LM on senkos and T-Rig trick worms, but getting pretty agitated with all the short fish. It was over cast today, so I pulled back out my buzzbait, which had been unsuccessful in the morning, and caught my personal best shoal bass, smallmouth of the deep south, on the third cast... at 3 in the afternoon. Thanks again NGaHB *Sorry for the pics being crotch oriented, I gatta change up that next time First Documented Jig Fish Same fish as the next pic. ^ this pic shows size and shape best This pic shows coloration best (Smallmouth of the Deep South)
  14. They work well enough to trick this Shoal bass at 3 in the afternoon! NGaHB
  15. Is that a triple trout you were throwing at the muskies?
  16. Ive wondered my self. The tip is still relatively small, not much bigger than my MH kistler tips. Im guessing the 6"s came out of the area that is the telescopic part. It still has some play up at the tip, a 1/2 oz jig still puts some decent bend to the tip when the jig is underwater. I dont want to come off as being defensive, I just have the rod in hand, so I dont know that automatic assumptions that it is junk are proper. As I said tho, this is an investment I made, not saying anyone else should make the same gamble, I wouldnt make the suggestion to anyone, unless they had the money to spare and a couple of rods they already had confidence in. NGaHB
  17. I've got a Citica and have really been enjoying it. This thread: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/92534-fishing-rods/ , gives alot of the info your looking for. NGaHB
  18. It's caught fish without any complaints yet, I'll just keep using it till it decides to stop. NGaHB
  19. Im fishing a creek that sounds alot like what your dealing with. Id bet the fish are concentrated in what holes there are. If you find any holes I bet more than one bit will come from it. NGaHB
  20. It's stiff for sure, threw a ~2 oz swimbait wonderfully tho. Glad your here to type about that boat accident, could have lost alot more than a rod. NGaHB
  21. Glad to hear it worked out well, other than the fish not cooperating. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Matt-Lures-Swimbait-Rod-telescoping-handle-bass-WOW-/150665696345?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2314601459#ht_510wt_1189 Theres a link to the rod, they must have a pile of em as you can say what power you want after winning the bid. The last few have gone for well less than $100 after shipping and all. NGaHB
  22. So it did work out pretty well?
  23. Thanks guys, managed to pull a few more in from this spot again today. Got another shoal bass, around 3.5#, fought like it was 8#. The biggest today came from a jig with a craw worm trailer. Still sitting looking at alot of fish that wont bite tho. I'm tempted to take and put a big ol wad of night crawlers in front of this one big girl, I swear shes laughin at me . NGaHB
  24. Packard, I figgured reconditioned rods would be hit or miss, but this time it seems to have been ok. I got a chance to go try out the rod today. I pulled in several fish with it throwing jigs. It seems to handle fine and got a 3.5# in without any problem at all. Pretty happy with the purchase so far. NGaHB
  25. You would probably be ok with a long H action flippin stick. I have been seeing MattLures rods coming up on ebay lately for less than $100. They got a good review from TackleTour, Ive thought about trying one out myself. NGaHB
