  1. I'm a little late to this post but I will add a couple of things that have worked for me in addition to the good suggestions posted so far . The first is go to tiny size baits and fish them with a medium to fast retrieve . The Lucky Craft 0.5 squarebill has been a great lure for this application . My version of the Ned rig which I've been fishing for a long time, 1/16 small mushroom jighead with a 3" senko .I have not tried the Zman version but it's obviously performing well for a lot of fisherman . Last but not least are large baits fished fast . Since last year had a I've had success fishing a 1-1/4 oz or 1-1/2 oz Dirty Jig's grass jig with a Rage Craw trailer fishing outside weedlines or throwing it right into the grass, the fast fall forces a reaction bite and sometimes the suspended bass will follow the bait down . The lakes generally have very clear water and the 50 lb braid that I was using didn't scare them off . It's fun jacking them with a flipping stick .
  2. I've been killing them with that bait since it's been released . Either T-rig or on a swinghead. Bait has a ton of action, but you have to detach the appendages as they are molded together . Try more weight, I usually fish with a minimum 3/8 oz sinker and 3/4 oz structure jighead has been money for me fishing outside weedlines in 15'-20' of water dragging it like a football jig .
  3. I prefer to fish alone as I tend to stay out a lot longer than most people can tolerate , I also seem to do better alone in terms of catching big fish as most people focus on numbers and are happy with 1& 2 lbers .
  4. In my opinion Senko's are better that's why I throw them. Yes , they cost more but they are still affordable for the average angler . Less durable, that's a trait that most of the better soft plastics share, if the bait is catching a lot fish buy another bag when they are done it's not complicated . If you are on a tight budget seek out alternatives, it's fishing go with what you like best that you are comfortable spending . If people are freaked out about durability use Zman, problem solved .
  5. I won't be able to confirm it until I field test it but I'm hoping that it helps the bait last longer because you are not tearing throw the plastic when setting the hook . As far as killing the action I believe the extra weight would add to it, that said I will have to see how the fish react to this approach , seems like it could be effective when the fish are in deeper water on a windy day . Not trying to sell anyone on it, just stating what has me intrigued by the concept . I will be sure to follow-up in the future with my on the water experience .
  6. I ordered them anyway, besides giving the fish a different look it looks you would have fewer Senko's tear and as Hogsticker pointed out with most of the hook exposed it should result in a high landing % .
  7. Interesting idea, that said the lightest they offer is 3/16 oz, it seems like lighter weights should be available . Wanted to see if anyone has tried them and how it worked out . http://www.wackojig.com/wackojigstore.htm
  8. Not getting ticked off when idiotic lake associations turn very good fishing lakes into swimming pool by years overly aggressive weed spraying .
  9. kickerfish1 you and I share the same opinion .

This one was caught on a custom painted a Golden Shiner .
  11. I like the 10" Big Bite bait Kriet tail worm .
  12. 8" Hudd or 8" BBZ .
  13. This past spring the Rapala Shadow Rap earned a place in my jerkbait line-up, very productive. I was already a fan of the Strike King Structure Bug, fishing it on a Strike King Jointed Structure jighead is the new part and was responsible for my best outing this season.
  14. I'm glad I stocked up on the 1 oz Xcalibur One Knockers a couple of years back as I see that 3/4 oz is the heaviest that they now offer .
  15. For a salted stickworm the Senko is still the best in my opinion so there I said it . My choice for a ribbon tail worm would be the 10" Kriet Tail by Big Bite bait, replaced the Power Worm as my go to . When I want a small salted straight tail the Zoom Trick worm is my favorite in that category . Big Shaky head would be the X cite Maximus. Small Shaky head would be custom poured stickbaits that I got from with no salt , though I'm starting to throw the Hag's Tornado which floats up nice . For swimming through shallow grass I like the Cut R worm by Strike King and when I want need a bigger profile my choice is the Gambler Burner worm .
  16. Pepper Pro Line jigs are very well made and have performed well, I use this with 17 lb florocarcon. The grass jig & heavy wire swim jigs that are made by Dirty jigs do very well, I fish these with braided line and up to 1-1/2 oz in the case of the Grass jig . The Strike King Hack Attack jig is another that I like .
  17. I like using a Strike King Caffeine Shad and fishing it very fast with constant twitches and even swimming it in shallow grass , gets violent strikes . I fish this with braided line .
  18. The Structure Bug has been my top performing soft plastic since it has come out and it catches fish no matter how you rig it whether it's on a jointed jighead, jig trailer, Texas rig or pretty much any other rigging method you would employ it produces . I have not used the Z Craw but I would assume that it is a solid bait if Zoom offers it .
  19. I absolutely love this bait. Texas Rig in the grass or using the Strike King jointed Structure Head . I stuck two 4lbers and a 6lb 2 oz kicker last Sunday at a lake by my house that has a reputation as a panfish lake . This is lake not known as a Big Bass factory by the locals but I fish there because it's quiet on the weekends other than a few guys fishing for panfish . Used the 3/4 oz jighead and if they didn't hit on the way down I would drag it like a football jig . The Blue Craw color was my choice last Sunday . Would love to see them add a Candy Craw color which is another color that Strike King offers in some of their other baits .
  20. Caught this nice bass that went 6lbs 2 oz along with 2 others over 4 lbs at a small public lake in SW Michigan . 5 best went about 20 lbs which is my best day at this particular lake .

I've been trying that lately, works well .

  23. Thanks for sharing, I have a few of the KLX rods and have been very happy with them. I imagine the Helium rods are terrific, I may try one next time I'm looking for a rod .
  24. I caught 20 fish in an hour the other day on a 3" Senko with a 1/16 oz jighead , not the first time I've done that . Maybe the Ned rig floats more but the small Senko rigged the way I fish it falls with a nice death spiral . The Senko cast very far for a small bait because of the heavy salt content . I am not disputing the effectiveness of the Ned rig but I am confident that I can produce similar results with other finesse plastics . Again, I find nothing new about the approach as well . That said I can see that it has it's believers and they are catching fish with it so I 'm glad for them . This will be my last post on the subject but let's just say we will have to agree to disagree regarding this being some innovative approach to fishing .
  25. Good post Team9Nine, the hype machine is getting out of hand as if this were the new Senko . Put almost any small soft plastic on a light jighead and bingo you can catch numbers of fish .
