  1. The Suffix Seige is great mono line. I bought a spool of the Suffix 832 braid for my baitcaster and love it.
  2. To learn on I would suggest the Bass Pro Megacast combo; under $50 so if you break it you aren't out that much. i would higly recommend spooling it with 20lb mono at first until you can onto thumbing and can keep backlashes to a minimum.
  3. Bass Pro Shops® Billed Mini-Z9R Swimbaits That's what I would get. These things are almost "idiot proof" and do catch fish!
  4. Interesting video about using deadbait for pike after the ice gets off of the water.
  5. 60 is just too cold. 68 is more like it. Now then; do you pay the heating bill or does she pay it?
  6. That is the exact same one I bought to learn how to use a baitcaster. I first tried 12 lb flourocarbon but it was just too slick for me and I hadn't set the centrifugal brake correctly so just setting it up and trying to use it the first time was a nightmare.... I then went with 20 lb Suffix Siege Mono and read an article by KVD about setting the brakes on a baitcaster. The instructions were much clearer and easier to follow. Had only 1 more bad backlash with it and that came because i tried to cast into the wind... It will work for just about anything. If you already have better ones then maybe you might want to leave it alone and consider "regifting" it or donating it to a youth group or using it to teach a young angler how to use a baitcaster.
  7. I agree with CoBass; check your knots. What type of knots are you using? Some are better than others with different line types.
  8. What part of Ohio? Since you mention steelheads I am assuming northern Ohio in the Lake Erie region.
  9. I'm a member. They publish a good general / all species fishing magazine and they do send out free products to test. They also sell some very informative books. I won an Abu Garcia Revo MGX reel in an online contest they have for Gear Giveaway. Worth the small annual fee.
  10. I bought an A-Rig on Friday at the Dania Beach BAss Pro and tried it Sunday morning. After using it for half an hour it is my opinion that anyone who can use it all day definitely has to be checked for PED's... Just simply amazing the difference in casting a single 3/8 ounce swimbait and 5 3/8 ounce swimbaits at the same time...
