What do you keep your thermostat set at in your house? I ask because now that I live with my mom for the time being now she has hers set at 60 which normally like outside weather kinda nice but it's winter and I usually wear like my hoodie inside cuz it's so cold in here all the time. Now that I have custody of my buys she turns it "up so it's warm" to a scorching 63. Just curious anyone else keep there house this cool in the dead of winter.

Wow, your Mom's one rugged gal. We keep ours at 70°and half the time we need an extra shirt!

Yeah my apt I had with my ex wife we kept it at 75 our bill was never that much. This 60 crap is killing me lol

72 ish. I'm weenie when it comes to cold. Never lower than 72 unless its summer. Then 70 if the temp is even able to get that low when its 112 outside. When we leave the house we turn it off. Unless its summer. Then we put it on 78 so it won't run so much.

73º, but the thermostat is very near the TV, a lamp and the computer monitor, so it is not real accurate.  The thermometer in the kitchen reads 64º-65º  most the time.

60 is just too cold.  68 is more like it.  Now then; do you pay the heating bill or does she pay it?

68 for us.  Memphis' power company MLG&W are known for high priced energy, and we do our part to stay below the average!

My sisters pay all her bills I used to but I had enough of her crap goin on cruises and such and leaving bills unpaid gettig turned off and us kids cleaning up after her. She asked for rent money the other day from me so I took her grocery shoppin and directly paid for things needed. Iv done the pay her and trust her to put it towards bills and it got me a suspended drivers license because she didn't pay our car insurance when I was still on hers in college. I do turn it up to 65 when she isn't home.

67-68 when we are home and up and about. I turn it down to 63 at night and when we are not home. Having a programmable thermostat helps

Your mom is old school. Keep it where it is comfortable. There are alot of different factors that play into the house being comfortable. Good vs crappy windows, carpet vs wood floors, basement vs slab, humidity levels in the house and so on. I am in the hvac trade and new windows will do amazing things for a house being comfortable.

I can live with 60-65. Any warmer I get to hot. Any colder I cant function. But my bed room is about 55. I close the vent and leave my door shut. I can sleep in my boxers with some thin blankets. There are still a lot of times were I wake up covered in sweat. The colder for me the better when sleeping. I have even slept in rooms less then 50 many times.

 

Were I am right now. Its a basement with a man cave. I wish I would have done carpet. The fake wood floor sucks during the winter. Way to cold on the feet. I have to wear slippers just to keep my feet warm. The basement is not munch colder then up stairs.

68 is what ours stays at. If it gets chilly I'll just put on sweat pants and a hoodie.

Installed geothermal three years ago, set the therostat at 71 degrees and our house has never been higher than 72 or lower than 70.  Love it.

Slip her some blood thinners.  Problem solved.

The location of thermostat has a bearing on where I set it, ours is in a hallway so it's regulated to the temperature of that area.  Heat settings and a/c for us are totally different, heat is seldom used we keep it around 75, a/c is set about 79 and even with 90+ days and high humidity it's quite comfortable.  I put little emphasis on the actual reading or setting of thermostat, I don't think they are too accurate, it's just a guage.

62 or 63 during the summer. We dont use the heater during the winter unless my boy tells me he is cold. Which is rare.

65 when we are home, 60 when we are not on the furnace. We live in a small house, and it's plenty warm for us. We don't have central A/C, and it's not needed. A window unit in the bedroom for the hottest part of the summer keeps it comfortable , to down right cold. Two small window units down stairs will keep the house at 70-72 with the blinds/curtains closed when it's 80+ outside.

75 in the winter and 77-80 in the summer.

62 when I'm at work, and it's programmed to bump up to 67 in the evenings.  I burn wood in a forced air fireplace insert, so the living room is always pretty warm.

I feed a wood stove all winter and that's like a job.
