I took a look inside with mirror like a dentist uses and the tank looked clean. I may end up replacing that just to be sure though.

The trolling motor is a 42# thrust minnkota. It needs a new plug/recepticle. I wouldn't mind a larger trolling motor but this will work for now. The outboard is a 50hp Johnson that has a fuel problem. Luckily, a coworker of my fiancee knows a bit about outboards so he is taking a look at it this week. Other than that, I just need to clean it up a bit-inside and out and put new hinges on some of the compartments.

I actually just purchased a boat this week. I is a 1984 tidecraft spitfire v15. It needs a little cosmetic work but that's fine because I need a project of some sort this winter.

So here are the results from this weekend's trip to Milford. The whites/wipers were really active and made it hard to catch a decent amount of smallies. The second fish Saturday morning turned out to be a 5.48lb wiper caught on the ned rig at the dam. At first I thought it was a nice smallie, that is, until he peeled off drag and headed deep. Pretty fun to fight that thing on a light action rod. Like Melvern, the dam proved to be the best spot and the ned rig the best bait. Sunday we had a problem with our fuel hose so we couldn't use our outboard. The wind kept us from moving too far so we just stayed in the cove where we launched. Again, the whites and wipers were very active. We caught over 50 fish in that cove including a cliche largemouth. The one laydown there, I pitched a jig and he grabbed it.

Thanks kansasbassfisher. I talked to blue throughout the day today about Milford. Looking at the forecast right now the winds are supposed to be single digits. That would be fine with me but I also know how quickly things can change around here. I will definitely let you guys know how we make out.

it is a Zman ZinkerZ cut in half and put on a small hook (typically 1/16th oz or 3/32nd oz. The cut end of the zinkerz is superglued to the jighead to prevent it from falling down.

Hey guys Elizabeth and I are planning to camp at Milford this weekend. I have never fished there and don't know where to start. Since smallmouth will be the primary target, I plan to fish it similarly to Melvern unless someone knows otherwise. I have never fished for wiper but would LOVE to catch some of those. If you guys have any suggestions on where to fish please let me know. It is too big of a lake to just guess where to fish.

Here are some pictures of the 3 biggest we caught. The first she caught was a FAT 17 1/4" The next was a 17 3/4" Followed by another 17 3/4" Unfortunately, my largest was 16" and deemed "not big enough for a picture"

Hey guys I am looking to have a jig mold for a specific type of jighead made for me. I can't find them anywhere online so I was hoping someone could make one. Can anyone do this? Thanks, Drew

We started out by the dam and then moved west after that. Chances are that we never crossed paths because I don't remember seeing a kayak when we were near the dam. And Blake, I had the same problem yesterday. One of our larger fish we had made a run and my drag went peeling off and then the hook just came out. Just like you said, the hook was straightened. I am going to try to get a custom jig mold to make mushroom jigs like the gopher jigs.

My fiancée and I made it out to melvern today. Action wasn't fast but we caught some nice ones. I will post some pictures later but Elizabeth definitely had the better day. She had two that measured 17 3/4" and one that measured 17 1/4". All the fish we caught were on the Ned rig except for one 15" white that nailed a small squarebill.

I would be in but it depends on the day due to my school schedule.

I caught a dink Saturday on a spinnerbait and just that one yesterday. My fiancee caught about a 14" on a small spinnerbait after I caught the 5lber.

No it was actually caught in a cove near the marina. The small one was at the dam though.

Oh trust me. We caught little ones too. If you even consider this big enough to be called "little"

Hey guys the get together was a lot of fun. I really look forward to the next one. My fiancee wanted to go fishing today so I decided to take her to melvern since I knew if nothing else, we could catch some at the dam. All we had for a boat was my 15' john boat with 2 trolling motors so we launched from the marina and stuck to the few coves near the marina and then ventured to the dam. The way today started out, I figured it was going to be exactly like yesterday with wind and bright blue skies so the fishing may be slow. That was until the clouds rolled in. I decided to throw a spinnerbait for a while and after about ten minutes landed this beauty. She weighed 4.98lbs and measured 20" even. Tough to tell from the picture, but she destroyed my spinnerbait. Not only did she straighten the wire (expected), she also bent the wire where it enters the jighead so the hole enlarged and now wiggles. Oh well I would gladly trade a bait for nice fish like that. Too bad I caught her a day late

Yes senkos and dingers work they just don't hold up as well. Typically after 1-2 fish on those you need to change them. I went a whole day and only changed worms once and that was to change from 1/8 oz to a 1/16 oz.

You mean the spot you gave me a shower on the way to? Now I get why you took that way to get there haha.

If you don't mind me asking, where do you fish when you go to Olathe? I have fished it a few times and never caught all that many bass.

I can bring a couple packs of hotdogs and buns.
