  1. Cbass, one crappie was caught on the Ned rig in roughly 6'. The other was caught on a 4.5" fire tiger jerkbait in about the same depth. Matt, yes I do go to Cleveland. I am in tri 8/10. Only a little longer left.
  2. Went to Melvern Saturday to enjoy the nice weather with my new wife and hopefully catch some nice smallmouth. Elizabeth caught 3 fish, 17" smallmouth, 16.5" largemouth, and 15" spot, before I landed my first "monster" bass- a 4.25" spot on a 4" jerkbait. The action slowed down as the day went on but we ended with about 30 total fish. We caught all 3 species of bass, a couple crappie, a green sunfish, and a drum. Also, the gar were spawning at the dam so we got to see them surfacing quite a bit. I wasn't aware that melvern even had gar in it. On a different note, has any one been fishing the smaller lakes? I would like to get out this weekend to some smaller lakes to avoid the Memorial Day traffic.
  3. I'm guessing that will move a little faster than your kayak. Congrats
  4. I went to Osage today hoping to catch them like blue Wednesday. While my fiancée and I didn't catch anything big (biggest was 16") we did manage to catch 32 bass. Most of them were about 12" with some larger and smaller mixed in.
  5. Sounds good to me too. My official bachelor party starts at 7
  6. That is what I am hoping. If people are willing to spend $50 on gas for the drive, they can spend some on food.
  7. I have a Wednesday off from school before finals start Thursday and would like to go fishing. I was thinking of trying Olathe since it is very close for me. Do you know where about on the lake they were fishing? I have never really had much luck at Olathe, usually just a few here and there. Never really been able to pattern them for some reason.
  8. I'm not planning on staying but I can still bring some food. Mr_Scrogg, what kind of burgers are you bringing? I can add 10 more.
  9. I agree with you about the wind KU_Bassmaster. Yesterday was supposed to be fairly decent but turned out to be very windy at Melvern. Only picked up four fish, 3 smallmouths and a tiny spot all on jerkbaits. Biggest was this 3.7lb smallmouth.
  10. I'm kind of stuck in a situation like you cbass. Melvern, Shawnee for trout, La Cygne, or some smaller lake that may be warmer than others. Any one have any suggestions?
  11. If you get out there Friday be sure to post what the temp is. I really want to get out there but would rather the water be about 50ish. Meant to say this earlier but congrats on your having a son. And congrats on getting a day off to relax.
  12. I took the fiancee out to Shawnee to try to catch some trout on Sunday. Ended up only catching 3 trout but caught a ton of whites on jerkbaits, a few small bass, and snagged a few giant gizzard shad with a ned rig. Has anyone been out to Melvern recently? I am just curious what the water temp is.
  13. Finally starting to feel like spring.
  14. Maybe if my best man (fishing partner) hadn't already planned it.
  15. Not sure how long my partner and I will be able to stay. That night is my bachelor party so we can't be there too long.
  16. I would be in for a couple traveling trophies. Or maybe something that you could display on the boat, not sure what though.
  17. I am bringing someone. I probably should have clarified.
  18. Put me down as a boater with a non boater.
  19. Make sure to post how you do and the water temp. I have been wanting to try somewhere other than La Cygne. Haven't made it very far up the river yet but I have caught some largemouth and a lot of small whites on the west side.
  20. I totally agree with this. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We could do something like at least 2 of the 5 have to come from something other than a ned rig. Just a thought though.
  21. I agree with voting on the lake. My vote goes to Melvern since the smallmouth will be more active than the largemouth in cooler waters. As for the date, I may be able to do April 27th, but I cannot do May 4th. May 4th is my wedding date and I don't think my fiancee would be too happy if I am fishing.
  22. Id be willing to give it a try. Never fished for trout. I probably wouldnt be able to go until march 9th. Then I have a week off for spring break. Let me know if you will be able to go any day that next week.
  23. They had a tournament out at Lacygne so there wasn't much room to fish. I did manage to sneak a 16" in the boat in a spot that a guy abandoned about a minute earlier. I only had one other bite all day.
  24. I may be heading out there Saturday if nothing comes up. I will be looking forward to hearing from the two fishing reports.
