  1. Yeah man, bass will become very "picky" in what they will bite on especially in a pond, and how hard you fish it may well depend on how often you cast in to it.
  2. On the other note if you check out bill dance's bupers on youtube, I have lost one of my nicest rods while not paying attention to it and a fish just snatches it off the boat...lmao
  3. Try fishing the ponds of butler, fish at your own risk.
  4. I would change up the bait to, and take into consideration that it's ponds you are fishing, some people wil beg to differ but ponds are way different from lakes they will warm quicker and change quicker. You have to be verseitile to your fishing game.
  5. Thanks all for the in-put, I think this years start was shady in most parts of the south the warm weather came rather quick, water temps warmed up, and the bass were in shock....most of them that I was fishing for were. Started out in late March fishing a tournement, the water temps were decent enough for the bass to spawn only one problem we had a fair amount of rain so the lake was up rather high then usual. Needless to say I had to pull back a little, instead of fishing in the 1-2 ft range I had to drop back into 5-6ft of water and cast into the 3-4ft range where the water would have been normal at 1-2ft. It produced a couple of mamas, but most were still in post spawn??? It was definitly a learning process for me and I used this to learn about the bass's pattern and how they are used to it gradually warming up instead of spurts.
  6. I usually get the sailor mouth cause i'm not gonna do damage to my equipment that I work hard to use.
  7. Snake proof boots, a black colorado blade spinner bait nickel plated, and top water baits:pop-r,spook,and a buzzbait....the bigger the baits the bigger the results.
  8. Oh ok I got ya, well learn the revo first than go out...
  9. Thanks for the feedback farmer, yeah the cold fronts didn't help at all.
  10. You can use a cheap rod and real, just get the technique down first.
  11. 1. Catch bigger fish 2. Catch a state record 3. Catch a World record Lol, sometimes you have to reach up to the sky
  12. First you need to see what kind of baitfish are in the lake, you said there is grass...you are in FL so the water temp is steadily rising. Find the deep water with structure or grass. Fluke, trickworm, and some sort of top water may do the trick....I would also look into punching, if the grass is thick.
  13. I guess some people just need to be educated on how important it is to release such a fish.
  14. Just wondering how everyone has done this year in there fishing success, what have you done differently, and if you have any new techniques that have been working for you. I have done more jigging this year and tried some new soft plastics. So far so good.
  15. If you can make it to NC Kerr Reservoir brooke the world record for blue cat last year.
  16. Fishing different techniques and making a decision to set the hook different ways....usually in spring most of the bass in spawn will just tap the bait or maybe even sometimes I won't even feel the bite, just watch the line and set the hook. Most of your crankbaits lipless or diving, the hook will usually set itself but I give an extra pull back, setting your drag is essential, the fish need play and they will get tired. Topwater bite was hard for me to learn, when I was a younger angler I used to cast out a pop-r and get hits but I would set the hook to fast. Now I wait for my bait to disappear and wait for the pressure of the fish and set the hook.
  17. Xcaliber the foxy shad and blue and chrome ratt-l-trp.
  18. Terminator or Booyah, the double blade produces big bass. Try throwing one out on summer nights or during the spawn, you won't be slummed if the big bass are around.
  19. Any bass clubs around the burlington,NC area?
  20. Wish I was in NC all my gear is there and I can't get to it tm night.
  21. Yea, I agree the sun is def. not good for your body...lol I'll have to re-think my earlier statement...lol
