I have an older evinrude 88hp 2 stroke and will sometimes idle it in the driveway with the muffs, and the water hose turned all the way up on high. I do this just to run it when I can't get to the lake for awhile. Anyhow, The overheat alarm will come on after a few minutes. I had the impellar and Tstat changed recently and I never get that alarm when out on the lake, only on the water muffs at idle. The tell tale is peeing and everything seems normal. Is this normal due to the engine not being submerged with back pressure? Thanks.

Yes, The type that you do not have to add water. I believe they are AGM type. I do not like always adding water with spills, possible tipping, overfilling, boiling over, etc. The closed cell batteries also seem to last much longer.

It seems harder to find maintenance free starting batteries. Everyone sells the deep cycle ones for trolling. Anyone have a suggestion for a maintenance free starting battery that is reasonable? Thanks.

Looks to be a store brand. Very possibly an older type that used to be offered at "Bass Pro" or "Cabelas." I believe "Matzuo" used to make something similar.

Another old soft plastic that was produced by Riverside. It was a plastic worm with a large flat serrated sickle tail. I believe it was called the big wag. It moved alot of water and drew fish in. It is really cool to remember all these old baits from yesteryear. Wish the still existed. I see an opportunity for someone with a ton of disposable cash. Buy up all the old molds and forms and hardware from lures that get discontinued and bring them back under your own company. I can see it now (Vintage Lures Inc.)?

I few I would like to see again. Bulldog spinner baits Sebile flatt shad 77 (suspending) Sebile had one that was like a flatt shad with a colorado blade on the back (name unknown) Manns Waker Bomber long A with the little prop on the back. Smithwick toothpick Most of the old wood baits that were replaced by plastic. (some of these may be found on fleabay for unreal prices)

I have not been able to get on the cabelas website. The message I got was that I was not able to access this site on the current server? I used to get it and nothing has changed on my home computer. Anyone else run into this? Very strange.

I am not sure. It is still available as a new lure from the company. So it would not be rare. A collector may have an interest, but I would keep it and may be even use it.

That is a Nils Master (Spearhead) lure. It appears to be an older one because of that color. Very cool lure.

I have a very old premix 2 stroke and have been using seafoam for years and it seems to work great for me. I also add in the original sta-bil (red) on occasion if the fuel is not used right away. My question is should I upgrade to the new "Seafoam Pro Marine" & the newer "Sta-bil 360 Marine" (blue) or is it just more money for the newest supposedly better product? Your thoughts, Thanks.

That appears to be from the old Paw Paw lure company which was in Michigan. They made several sizes, model #s, and of course colors. Some had different names as well. Together they were just known as the Paw Paw river type lure. Sizes were 2 5/8," model 9100 3 1/8." model 6300 & 3 1/4" model 9300. Some were known as "Lippy Joe River type lure." One company probably copied the other way back when since Heddon & Paw Paw were in close proximity in Michigan. Heddon made the "river runt". The color you show looks to be the color "pike." Always had smaller 4x4 trucks for towing my boat. Looking at other options and wondering if 4 wheel drive is really necessary. Most of the ramps i use are nice normal concrete and a few are gravel. Nothing super steep. I always liked having the 4 wheel option, but it means a heavier vehicle, lower mileage, and normally a bit more required maintenance. My boat is about 2500lbs. Those who use a regular 2 wheel drive vehicle, ever have any issues pulling your boat out of water? I live in the deep south so ice or snow is not a consideration. Just wondering if I could get by with a 2 wheel drive vehicle? They are cheaper and easier to find a good deal. Any thoughts on your experience is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Solved. Took off all ground wires on trailer, grinded down to bare shiny metal, a thin coat of dielectric grease, reattched all grounds and presto. Works wonders. Thanks for all the help.

I have LED lights on the trailer and they always worked well. Today I noticed that the light on the right side looking from the back does not come on when the brakes are applied. The turn signal works on that side and the light on that side works at night, it just does not come on when the brakes are applied. Anyone have an idea where to start. Thanks.

I know that if you use a longer rod you can get a longer cast, but does anyone know the relation to this? I know there are tons of variables, like reel model, size and correct lubrication, wind, weight of lure, etc. I am just wondering like for each inch of fishing rod length you may get an extra 2 feet of casting distance or something like that. Is there a big difference from say a 6'9, 7', 7'6 rod to a longer cast if all variables are equal? I hope you can understand my query. Thank You for any and all input.

The top left is a Shur-Strike pikie minnow. It was a line of baits that came out under that name, but they were manufactured by Creek Chub.

It is ok to leave the trolling motor and operational wiring attached to the batteries while charging, or should you remove all other wires while charging the batteries? I was always disconnecting everything before charging just for safety, but maybe you do not have to. Thanks.

My old trolling foot control bow mount died and it is so old they do not even have any parts. I am looking for suggestions for a new one. I have a fiberglass bassboat that is 16'. I only have room for 1 battery so it must be 12v only. Obviously want good power, quiet, easy steering, good speed ranges, battery efficient and mostly reliability and a decent price. I know some are die hard MK or MG fan boys, but just give me an honest opinion. My old trolling motor was an MG and lasted over 20 years if that helps. Thank You.

i think buying and collecting fishing lures is fun, kind of a part of the sport. Do i need it? No. It still makes me happy. I think a large portion of the appeal is thinking you may stumble on that one lure that crushes it on your local fish. You probably never will, but you have fun along the way. Also, what works great one day may not work next time, so something else is needed. It is also a bit like having several birthdays or an extra Xmas through the year when you buy, or get that box in the mail.
