I have been looking at the evergreen shower blows lure. Seems it may work for walking and popping. Anyone share your experience and what size do you recommend? Thanks.

Sorry S. Sass, I did not mean to offend. I was not parading misinformation, simply an opinion. For every bass that is kept, there is one less bass in the world, to spawn and be caught again by another angler. To me that is a negative. Again my opinion. Also, anyone speeding in unsafe conditions, no matter the reason, is endangering their life and other innocent travelers. Again my opinion.

Here is my humble opinion. Please don't be a hater. Around here predators eat so many bass, that fisherman are not needed to control populations. I hear many say, if its legal to keep bass, then it's ok. Have any of you ever questioned who made the law on the size and number to keep? Are all lakes and rivers the same in your state so that the law will work perfect for every body of water? How often is the law checked or amended? The DNR in most states is highly under staffed due to budget cuts and they have a hard time checking bass populations to ensure the laws are working properly. Each year we see mother nature control bass populations through predators, lack of food, floods, drought, extreme heat, or extreme cold. I am not saying laws are not needed, They are. I simply state that because it is legal, that does not always mean it is the right thing to do. The highway speed limit is 70 mph all year. If the highway is icy, 70 mph may not be the right thing to do, but legally you could. I do not keep any bass. I enjoy this sport to much to negatively affect it. If you need to fish to feed your family, panfish are more abundant and easier to catch and because they are smaller, will have less toxins due to bioaccumulation than their larger cousins. If you want to keep bass that is solely up to you. I have heard results of water testing on some of our lakes and i would not recommend keeping and eating any of those fish. You may glow in the dark or grow some extra eyes.

Most Johnson outboards have an identical twin badge under the Evinrude brand. In most cases, Johnson and Evinrude parts are interchangable. Sierra company also makes old parts for these engines. Common parts that you may need should not be a problem for many years to come. Check marine engine.com and you will see what is readily available from one source.

1. small jighead with a white curly tail grub. cast & reel, hop it, pitch it, drift with it, it resembles a shad and works in most lakes. 2. ned rig. same as above, except dark colored trd. 3. splitshot rig, a slipshot 12 to 18 inches above a 4 to six inch straight tail worm. works well in weedy areas. Can't really recommend a dropshot, because I have had no luck with one, maybe too many weeds, or not enough time with it.

What H2O hard swimbait works better? The 3.5" shad style or the 3.5" panfish style? Any of their colors that you prefer? Thanks.

For those of you who have used the mj rig (a spinner on the end or hook area of your senko type worm), what size, color, and blade type has worked for you? I have been wanting to try this setup and just wanted to get the right stuff the first time. Thanks.

The tongue weight for that set up should not be enough to offset the weight of the engine over the drive wheels. If the ramp is wet you may get some wheel spin depending on the tires and incline of the ramp. If you go slowly it should be fine. I see minivans towing good sized boats at the ramp and they seem to be fine. I am assuming your vehicle has a good size 6 cylinder so weight and horsepower should be fine. You said it came with a towing package which would indicate a solid balanced weight dispersing hitch, better brakes, probably some sort of traction control, and a transmission cooler. That vehicle probably has a strong solid truck frame so all and all I believe you would be fine. As said earlier, If you are worried, the first time take some wheel chocks and some extra guys who can help push if truly needed and maybe a buddy with an extra truck to pull you up the ramp if necessary, though I doubt the extra precaution will be needed.

I saw a display in the store with a bunch of new Berkely hard baits. Pitbull, Warpig, Cutter 110, Bad Shad, and others. I liked some of the colors and they all looked pretty good. Has anyone had any luck with these and if so, which type and color? Thanks.

If you are lucky enough to find, use, and afford ethanol free gas then you may want to put an additive in a couple times a year to keep your fuel and system clean and fuel lasting longer. If you use gas with ethanol in it, use an additive with every tank. Ethanol is hell on smaller engines. I have used Startron and Seafoam and both seem to work well. I suggest using additives for all small engines including lawn equipment, especially if using ethanol gas. Car & truck engines are now designed to handle ethanol fuel. I still use an additive in my vehicles a couple times each year.

We have so many predators that eat fish around here, that there is no need to keep any. Mother nature does a good job of keeping a balance. Even large bass will eat small ones. Keep some if you want, where it is legal, but I do not see a need to keep any bass where I live.

Many larger truck stops have a scale. They will charge a fee, but it is worth it to get a print out. As stated before, weigh total rig, then unhook and weigh boat, motor and trailer. Subtract and you will have a very accurate weight.

I think Al is right on this one. I had old trailer tires that started making a rumble like they were flat. It would slow you down and make it shake through the whole truck at a certain speed. When I got new ones, the tech showed me how the inside of the tire had kind of separated and caused the problem. New tires, problem solved. Trailer tires do not last too long, even if they are not used much. I hope that is your problem because it is an easier cheaper fix than most other things. Good luck, let us know what you find.

My local BPS has been very disappointing. I used to spend a good deal of time and cash there. The last 2 years the prices have gone up a significant amount. They also do not have any of the new stuff out. They still do not have stuff from Icast 2 years ago. Nothing from the last Icast at all. They need to be a bit concerned, because Academy is building new stores around the area and Academy has much more variety, new products, better pricing, better staffing and much better pricing on guns. My money goes to ***, or locally to Academy or sometimes Dick's Sporting goods.

My friend and I fish artificial baits all the time, but usually once or twice a year we may plan a shiner trip. Usually when fishing is slower, like really hot summer or cold winter days. It is a nice change up and gives us a shot at a big fish. We use a specialty shiner/kahle style hook that gets them in the side of the mouth each time and makes catch and release easy. Just something different, although we both prefer artificial baits that make fishing more challenging and sporting.

No need to get hostile, I was simply stating what works for me. The tires I put on are rated for the weight of the boat and speed I drive. My trailer is more stable and tracks better than before. If you think trailer tires are the only way to go, great, just make sure you get quality. The trailer tires I had before always wore out quickly and would get cracks in the sidewalls after one season. Driving with those was dangerous. I was looking for a better alternative that would last. This tire was recommended by a national tire company and had the specs for my single axle trailer. The tire sales person told me, a high percentage of trailer tires are being brought in from China and are poor quality and simply do not hold up under use. Those are much more dangerous than anything else. The tires I have now are on season 3 and still look new. My rig now moves on the road better and safer than before. Please don't bash people for trying something that works for them. I have worked in the safety industry before and would never endanger myself, family, or anyone else. I am just like anyone else, I just want to get out, catch a few fish, and get back home to my family safely. I have seen many work trailers with different types of tires on them and they get used daily. I am not trying to be difficult. I simply believe that saying there is only one way to do something is a bit close minded. if that were true, than why do we have so many different lures?

I use regular car radial tires and do not see any problems at all. I used to use trailer tires but they always wore out quickly. The radials last much longer and roll easier so you get better mileage. Some say that a regular car radial will make the trailer sway back and forth or get squirrely on the highway, but I have never had that problem. My trailer is not a tandem, so i do not know if that makes a difference. I know these work and have saved me a good chunk of cash.

I have an older 1987 evinrude with the dark colored surface mount shift box on the right of the cockpit area. You have to pull the shift lever out and then move forward for fast idle warm up. You pull it back to neutral and it pops in for shifting. Lately it does not pop back in as quickly and seems to move more sluggish. I blamed it on cooler weather, but wondered if there is any cleaning or lubrication I can do inside this shift box to help without messing up something. I have never taken it apart and am not too mechanically inclined. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
