Velcro Rod Secure Strap
My older bass boat came with a velcro strip mounted to the deck to hold fishing rods. It is starting to wear out. I am looking for a replacement. I can't seem to find the right size or a type of velcro designed for outdoor use. My current velcro does not have a sticky back or adhesive. The strip is mounted to the deck with pop rivets and it is about 12 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. Would any velcro hold up to outdoor use? Anyone ran into this or have an idea? I found one place on the web, but they sell 50 foot rolls for $50. I don't need a whole roll. Thanks.

Snakeheads?
What is the deal with these snakehead fish in So. Fl? I am not familiar with them. They look mean and nasty. Will they bite or attack you if you are not careful? Are you supposed to kill each one you catch to try to protect the native species? Do they eat or destroy bass populations? Will they move any farther north? Sorry about the many questions, but do not know much about this non native species. I am guessing they were introduced by some one dumping out a home aquarium? Thanks for any info.

Bore Snake?
Is the bore snake a good way to do a quick cleaning at the range on a pistol or when you are short on time for a full cleaning? Anyone use these? Thanks

Weighing Bass?
Sorry J, I wasn't knocking anyone or making it my business. I think some took my content in the wrong manner. I really don't care either way. I was simply curious and wondered if I was missing out by not weighing the fish I catch.

Weighing Bass?
Maybe it is just me, but why do people feel the need to weigh their fish? Unless you are in a tournament, does it really matter? A big fish is a big fish. Is it pride or the pursuit of a new personal best? I see some guys on the water weigh every catch. To me it is more important to get the fish back in the water quickly, especially in the heat of summer. Take a photo if you want, but is the weight also necessary? If the fish is a true trophy, then for sure get a weight on it. I don't think it really matters if it is a 4.5 or a 5.5, that is still a nice catch anywhere. Your thoughts?

Overwhelmed At Cabelas
I admit I like to go look around in the big BPS, Dick's, Gander and such, but I really enjoy going into the old mom & pop tackle shops. You know the ones that are kind of old, run down, dusty and sell live bait. They have cool stuff, some which has not been made in years. Colors of lures no longer produced. I feel good buying from these folks. They love to talk fishing and give out the best current tips on when and where to go. Unfortunately, we have lost most of these shops in the last couple of years. They can't compete with the big stores and the internet. I miss these places, even the musty smell was a welcome to me.

Custom Lure Painting?
Does anyone know of a person who could repaint some old lures to look new again? I am not artistic enough and want a professional job done. Have you ever had any lures repainted? Can you recommend anyone? Thanks.

New Shadow Rap
I wonder if you took the middle hook off it it would suspend or rise slowly. I always find 3 treble hooks as overkill. If the middle hook was removed would it change the action??? The do have my interest, I guess I will have to pick up one or two.

Engine Repairs On The Water?
I want to set up a kit for engine repairs that may save the day and get one back to the dock. I currently have some tools, spare spark plugs, electrical tape, fuses, wire ties, jumper cables, and extra 2 cycle oil. Any other engine related items you can add ? Does anyone know all of the fuel line sizes I should get for spares for the typical older evinrude 2 cycle v4. Thanks for the help!

Gycb Frog?
Has anyone used the gycb yama frog? It looks more like a solid toad type bait. If you have tried it, please let us know how it worked out. Thank You.

The Benefits Of Realism?
We all agree fish strike objects for many reasons, hunger, curiosity, just to kill something annoying or in the wrong territory, competition for food (eat it before some other fish gets it) etc. Not to add to the fire, but the worlds top ichthyologists really don't agree on what a fish sees whether it be, clarity, color, acuity, luminosity, or anything else and I doubt they ever will. I do believe in clear water something that moves and looks natural would have a better shot at a hunger induced strike. In off color water, I believe the fish use their other senses more in finding their food. I have seen guys who have an old lure that just always works. The paint is gone, eyes are gone, and it just looks like a piece of plastic with hooks. It is not realistic or natural, but it works. This is one of those one in a million lures that gives off the right sound or hydrodynamic wave or some type of movement that is perfect. P.S. If you have one of those lures keep it protected, and don't try to improve it, or better yet, send to me for safe keeping!

Straight Shank Vs Offset Hooks
I use offset ewg hooks for everything and have never had a problem. They almost always hook the fish in the side of the mouth and that makes for easy removal without harming the fish. Since these hooks are a larger bend fish won't normally swallow or get gut hooked. Kahle hooks kind of work the same way, but are hard to rig plastics. I am sure straight hooks work well in thinner plastics, but I like that offset so you are able to skin hook the bait. You can't really skin hook a bait with a straight hook.

Help Id'ing This Skull I Found At The Boat Launch
I am assuming the skull is very light weight, and if so like J and the others have stated it must be from a large bird. I have handled skulls from parrots and some raptors and they appear similar.

After The Fall Bite?
After the bass have gorged on shad and minnows in the shallows "fall bite", you know jumping and chasing baitfish. It normally ends with colder weather. The lake now seems almost dead. Where do the bass go at this time? Do they go deep to avoid the cooler temps or are they still shallow but full of food. This is always a challenging time to still catch fish. Anyone have any insight. Thanks.

Senko Mj Rig
What is this rig? I am not familiar of what you are talking about. Could you post a picture or a link so I could see it. Thank You.

Fluke Presentations?
I like to use flukes, but only rig them with an ewg hook. They are light and sometimes hard to get a good casting distance. Does anyone rig them with a weighted swimbait hook or on a jig head? This would help with casting, but does the weight make it sink too quickly or ruin the dying minnow action? Any other ways of rigging that work? Thanks.

Engine Maintenance ?
I have an older 4 cylinder, 2 cycle, carbed Evinrude engine. I change the plugs each year and the water pump every couple of years. I also clean the carb and change the fuel filter. Take off the prop to check for damage and replace the gear lube. I was wondering how often you should change the spark plug wires? Is there any other maintenance you recommend? I wish I could afford a newer model with fuel injection, but for now this will have to do. I runs good and I need to keep it going. Thanks.

Live Target Mouse
I fished the live target mouse today, several followers but no takers. I like the action you can pop it, skip it or it walks very easy. I did have a problem with it filling with water each cast. Has anyone tried to seal it better? I would like to seal around the hooks and see if it helps, not sure if that would hurt the action. Maybe it is just one of those things that you have to squeeze out the water each cast? Please let me know if you had success sealing up the mouse. Thanx.

Fishing Cameras
Polaroid just came out with a small cube camera for video. Not sure if it is any good. It may work well for your application and save you some cash.
