  1. The blue one is an old Manns bait, I believe it was called the rooter. The top one looks to be a very old crank. Hooligan, is right on the middle one. It's a Swim Whiz.
  2. rboat posted a topic in Fishing Tackle
Saw this at BPS tonight, and it looks sweet. Anyone have any info on if they are worth it.
  3. Northstar "Dropsickle" Northstar "Drop Pop"
  4. Myself mostly, I have very limited time to fish so I push myself to at least get one each trip. I read and watch fishing related stuff and try to expand my knowledge. My best friend who is new to the sport only goes along for the time to chat. When he beats me, that pushes me to improve. We usually bet a buck each for 1st fish, biggest fish and most fish. That pushes me a little, too.
  5. Sorry, I missed that thread. I was away awhile.
  6. Have these wonderful new gas prices changed your fishing at all? I have been planning trips, but now I will stay closer to home. (rant) We are being ripped off. Little if any, of our imported oil actually comes from Libya. So why the price change? Imported oil to US. 1. Saudi Arabia 2. Kuwait 3. Iraq 4. S. America Most import lists do not have Libya on them! > Sorry about the rant, But this is affecting my beloved bass fishing.
  7. I collect lures, but try to fish each when I can. I am sure I have a few that have never seen the water. It would be nice to have a section on the forum for collectors to chat. Glenn?
  8. Nice catch Lee! Where you been finding em & what are they hittin if you don't mind.
  9. What size on these pointers do you recommend?
  10. Nothing new here. All hype. What a waste.
  11. I subscribed years ago. They always messed up my subscription and wanted me to send more money and subscribe again. I quit. Now I pick one up in the store on occasions. I think it is the best on the shelves around here.
  12. I buy stuff that is recommended here or by some of the local anglers. I believe a bass is a bass, but some stuff works better in certain parts of the country. I try to keep colors natural. Shad is normally the first color I will try.
  13. With the ecomony still in the crapper (despite what the govt. says) and gas & food prices on the rise, crime seems to go up at the same rate as prices. I recently read a fishing report from Florida that had a scary side note. It stated that several anglers, both on shore and in boats, had been robbed at gunpoint. Wallets and even fishing tackle had been taken. The report went on to say that trucks at a local ramp were broken into and one was stolen. This is crazy. Do we need to carry a gun and permit just to go fishin? I fish alone most of the time and would hate to have this happen, especially if my son was with me. Please take note and lets help each other. If you see anything that doesn't look right while at the lake, whip out the cell phone and call the authorities. You may save a life or at least someones valuable fishing stuff. Pass it on.
  14. Sorry guys, I meant TNN not TNT. my mistake. Sometimes TNN will put on a fishin show.
  15. What channel (cable or satellite) has the most and best bass fishin shows. I may be changing my tv provider to something else and want to get the most bass fishing shows possible. Thanks Currently, I only get (VS) (TNT), & (Espn2) These are very limited. Thanks.
  16. 1. C-rig. All that line and lead reminds me of a salt water party boat. Throwing a C-rig reminds me of some kind of ancient weapon. I know they work. Just not too well for me. 2. Jig. Again a great bait for many, not me. I can't even buy a bite on one. PS. There is nothing wrong with a senko. Not my first choice, but they catch fish everywhere. Anyone, including young anglers can catch senko fish. A senko is also very versatile, top to bottom and fast or slow and with many ways to rig one, they can be fun. Like them or not, they work. If you really cannot catch a fish with a senko it might be time to try a different hobby.
  17. Roland's constant ads are horrible, but him saying the same thing over and over is worse. I am afraid he is becoming senile or may have the beginnings of alzheimer's. I hope not, aside from product endorsements he seems like a real nice guy and he sure knows where to find bass and how to catch them. His son, Scott seems pretty cool too.
  18. Congrats! I think all of us have that dream. With the economy and prices rising each day, I am afraid I will have to work right up to my last breath.
  19. The gambler floating worm works real well in the spring. It floats easily and has a good snake action.
  20. Nice fish. What were you throwing to get those fat girls?
  21. Hit my local store today. Rapala, Rebel, Xcaliber, and some bomber were 50% off. Most lures I got for around $3. My wallet is now much lighter.
  22. Winter season is very subjective depending on where you live. Although most have said large prey, I would disagree. Granted, I do not fish much in the winter, but from what I know of fish and biology they prefer a smaller, slower, easier to catch and digest meal in the colder temps. In extreme cold their metabolism slows way down to an almost hibernating state and they need very little food spread out over a longer time period to survive. Even the process of digestion consumes calories. In colder temps, I believe a bass would prefer a smaller meal to keep in a natural state of comfort. Many fish species survive in super cold water by consuming diatoms and other micro-organisms. This is seen in polar fish species and fish living at extreme depths where water temps are much colder. There is larger prey available, but rarely if ever consumed.
  23. I used to fish some smaller ponds and lakes that did not have shad, yet the bass would tear up lures that were shad shaped and shad colored. Give it a try.
  24. They work ok, but for the money I think there is better out there. The bill breaks easily and sometimes the joint will come apart. I think the RC 2.5 wake is a better bait.
  25. Those look great. FishinDaddy what color were you using?
