Welcome to the board. Jigs and T-rig plastics give a different presentation, Jig is trying to resemble a craw fish, and that works better for me on the lakes that I fish. I suggest you go out and try both techniques, and the fish will tell you when the bites are on.
  2. Agreed. This forum is awesome, share some pics.
  3. I will go out this weekend, and put on my rooster tail for 15-20 minutes then let you know.
  4. I use my leatherman multi-tool, but any pocket knife should work. Buy a good sharping stone, if your knife is dull.
  5. Use it any technique, but don't set the hook too hard.
  6. I have a 6lb spool, but only uses it for crappies since I use straight braid most of the time.
  7. I like to use a very small slip bobber with a split shot (use different weights depend on the depth I am fishing), then let it run freely. Make sure you buy some BIGGER minnows, or you are going to start picking up all sort of stuff.
  8. I have it on G.loomis GL2, if you can afford it then go for the NRX.
  9. baby rage craw T-rigged, and start pitching at covers at shallow water.
  10. Went out as well, got a couple with KVD 1.5 at Centennial Lake. Where is Kings pond, is that Martin luther king park on jackson road?
  11. 1. yes 2. Usually I will apply it on all the baits I am going to use for the day, and never had to re-apply it. 3. One tube lasted me two seasons
  12. I think Ablerto is the easiest to tie, but double uni never fails me.
  13. Not sure about Kansas City, but in Maryland I found that 1-3pm is the most productivity during early spring or late fall.
  14. If I were fishing senko or other soft plastics, I am more a line watcher than "feel" the bite kinda guy. If the line moves side ways, or sink much faster than usually then reel in the slack and set the hook.
  15. I think it is the bait monkey calling... I have all three colors, and can't tell any differences.
  16. What's the problem with braid performs poorly under slack line? I mean, I have been using braided line with Fluro leader and didn't seem to have any issues. On the other hand, my hookup ratio went up. Maybe, I am missing something or not noticing it.
  17. How do I get some at a reduced price? LOL!!! Actually, I have a CI4 and loving it. My most expensive set up is spinning CI4/GL2. I am catching 70-75% of my fish on spinning gears, so that's where my money is going.
  18. Big Bite is pretty cheap, but definitely not durable.
  19. Really bad at fishing in deep water, maybe I need to try harder. I usually fish covers that usually produce for me, and probably not a good way to learn new things.
  20. It depends on types of lake you fish. There are several local lakes that I fish, and most of my honey spots are located at stumps. But I fish drop offs and points, if I were to fish a different lake. If you are wondering my favorite structure, then it would be lily pad and laydowns.
  21. 3-4 bottles of water, trail mix, chips, energy bar, and sometimes home made sandwiches. Most of the time, I will just stop and go to subway or something.
  22. Had the same issue with 2 of my veritas as well, but I was able to return it and get something else. I am staying with Shimano or Dobyns, they never given me any issues.
