  1. Every manufacturer is different in the rating system. As ForceofWill said, you have to feel them for yourself, the rating is just a guide. Hooligan is correct about the taper of the whole rod though. Again, the XF, F, Mod, do all vary from different manufacturers. As well as H, MH, MH, etc..
  2. KVD L&L. The day before you decide to go fishing, hook the line to a tree, and begin walking back taking line off the spool. When you get about 3/4 of the spool off, spray some L&L on the spool. Reel in 1/4 of the line and spray again. Repeat this until you get all the line in. Then spray the spool before you go to bed, and again in the morning. If that doesnt do it, I dont know what will.
  3. Longer rods allow for more line takeup on a hookset. Some will say that casting distance is also a advantage, I dont know if it is a big advantage, but I would say it depends more on the action of the rod, and the manufacturing quality. I would also factor in the height of yourself vs length of rod. I am 5'7, and more comfortable/accurate with a rod around the 6'8-7' length. Also, the length will be a factor on wether you fish tight quarters or not.
  4. I only buy painted weights when they are 1/8-1/4 oz due to the size, my 1/32 are plain lead. Does it make a difference? Maybe, but I feel better knowing the bigger ones are more inconspicuous.
  5. Just as people say that if you take a crankbait and add a little red paint to it, it helps to give it a little bit more of attraction to fish. Do I believe it does?, somewhat. I think any red color will become unvisible around the 4-5 ft depth mark, so take it with a grain of salt. However, I will say this: somedays I will fish a lizard that is Watermelon Chart. and wont get any bites. I will switch to a Watermelon Red Chart., in the same spot, and will start knocking them dead. Since the hooks dangle below the crankbait, I dont know how that affects it, but I dont think it will hurt.
  6. Some combos are pretty good deals. Buying seperately allows you to go out of that mediocre area. Yes you are going to be able to put a killer combo together, but plan on spending twice as much on the average.
  7. All you were looking at are good rods. Also, try the Shimano Compre. I just acquired one, and I really like it. You might want to try and get your hands on one of them first before buying one. If you buy online I know its tough.
  8. Yes we are loyal, to good product. Hard to beat a quality Shimano. A Curado or Chronarch E is a good choice.
  9. Fishing is my Church, its my religion. Ill prob be up till midnight or later Sat night, but still going to fish in the AM. Catch up with me later on in the day.
  10. Just my walking shoes. Usually go out around 0700. Dont know where yet, depends on the weather.
  11. Ordered? We have BPS here. I will be going tomorrow afternoon for the 5 day sale if you want to take a ride. Friday I am working, but Sunday morning I will be going to Church(Fishing) if interested.
  12. Specialty, lizards. I cant deny, I love a topwater bite and will work the lizard as fast as I can sometimes to get a fish to hit the surface with the lizard. They work better below surface, but wheres the eyegasm in that?
  13. I offered in a prior post. Heck even Bass Ninja was nice enough to take me out when I was in SC on Lake Murray. We had a good ole time. Some good people on this site.
  14. Watermelon chart., Watermelon red, junebug, black, and maybe some purple.
  15. Hey, dont hold back, tell us how you really feel, lol.
  16. Used the Rapala for a month, it broke. Traded in for another, lasted 3 months. If your not tourney fishing, then just get a cheap BPS brand non digital one. If its for tourney use then spend the dough. For fun fishing I use the yellow $5 BPS scale, it has retractable tape measure too. Its good for est weights.
  17. OK, since you live by me I will give you some tips. Go to BPS in Dania and pick up a pack of 5/0 Magna EWG 25ct, a pack of 1/32 oz bullet weights, some Humpin toads, some Zoom lizards, Zoom baby brush hawgs, Zoom ultra vibe speed worms. I cant tell you how to fish them, but I can lead you to the ways.
  18. A hat, sunglasses, a Buff, long sleeve SPF button up WWS shirt, water resistant cargo pants, and station boots. My wife says I look like Im dressing for the winter time.
  19. Yeah, get 2 nice rigs. One for light baits, and one for heavier applications. You can easily spend $500 for 2 decent setups. Then get some line, hooks, and some baits.
  20. I would recommend a 7'6 H rod with 80# braid alone just for the A Rig. Otherwise I would go 7' MH Fast for the other.
