  1. Thats the C14 canal. Its loaded with fish, but they wont be hanging around the docks. Fish under the bridges, or you can go along the south side of it and walk the sidewalk and fish. That canal is better with a boat though. I can meet up with you one weekend if you want and show you some decent canal systems if you want. The thing is, you have to be at the right canal at the right time. Some days they are hot, some they are not.
  2. You might be filling the spool too much.
  3. Im gonna have to go Curado/Chronarch 50E for $200 Bob.
  4. I live on University and Riverside. That canal you are talking about on University south of Atlantic is a great canal. In fact go West on Atlantic from University, and make the first left into the housing development. All the way down is a park where you can fish that same canal. Other good canal is Atlantic just East of Coral Springs Dr. That canal runs from the C14 down around Coral Springs Park, and through a housing development. Check out Google maps, all these canals in Coral Springs all interact with each other in some way. Its endless water to explore. I always go to different areas all the time.
  5. Ive leveled them down to six from over 12. I pretty much fish the same things all the time that produce, if anything I will just tie on something if it comes down to it.
  6. Thats pretty killer right there.
  7. Is that a broken rod in your profile pic?
  8. Ive used them, and still have them. They are great rods, and very light. They rate up there with better rods. I havent had one break on me yet. I have 2 MH 6'6 that I can let go if you want them. Let me know.
  9. But its soo pretty, lol
  10. I bought a YoZuri jerkbait because it was a clear prismic reflective cool looking lure. I will never use it, but it looks cool to be on my boat keys, lol.
  11. Those Berkley Lightning Shock Rods are pretty darn amazing for the $ if you ask me.
  12. 13" Culprit, mostly tequila sunrise.
  13. Im trying to keep people from crying about it, lol.
  14. The fact that you added a topwater to that bit, I would go 6.
  15. How long have you had it? Maybe got a dud or something. 30 feet is pretty bad. Make sure your brakes and spool tension are set right. If all is OK, and you haventhad it that long, trade it back for another one.
  16. I use a Curado E for jigs/punching. Never had a problem pulling fish out of slop. The Shimano drag is underrated.
  17. Never heard of a Veritas snapping easy myself. Either way good rods. Mount a reel on them and see which one feels better.
  18. You can never have too much, but its hard when the wife tells you it is.
  19. For my topwater, which is spooks, I use 10# Trilene XT mono. I like the lighter test due to it helps snap the spook better for better action. For my crankbaits, which I almost never get to use down here, I will take my daily fishing setup with 12# YoZuri and use it.
  20. Of coarse, I fish all Shimano reels. I like them naturally, but as well as they provide me with a similar feel and performance. All my reels are different models and sizes, and are used for a specific purpose. As far as rods, all Shimano except for one Abu Vendetta.
  21. Cool. Thanks for the info. I had a feeling by looking at it, it was 70-80's. My wife grandafther gave it to me to clean up and lube. Pretty cool little reel.
  22. Cant find the info, any idea when these were made?
  23. What I mean is that all the Es were the same platform, little differences. Gs same platform, little differences. The same thing with the Bantam Curado and Bantam Citica. Thats the good thing about Shimano, they use the same style for each series, and they just have little differences in the parts material or bearing count. When it comes doen to it though, they all have cent brakes and spool tension, which is the most simple and dependable design. Also, the cent brake design is not some spring loaded plastic tabs that dont hold up very long, and you dont have to replace the whole mechanism, just the caps. Oh yeah, let us not forget that Shimano supplies you with extra caps, oil, and the tool. Im not considering the "true" Chronarch, Core, or Calais, as those are very high end expensive reels that are rediculously overpriced. If you have the money to spend, then by all means they are the bees-neez, but lets get real, most people are not going to fork that dough. I now I wont anytime soon, due to not having any problems with the newer designed Es and Gs.
  24. I will tell you what, when you go to the store to look at these 2 reels together, i want you to take a real close look at these things. Take the sideplates off, and also note how they come apart, and how easy one is to do than the other. Then I want you to take a look at the way the brakes are done. Take a look at which reel has the essentials, and which reel has maybe too much. Also take a look at how easy one is to adjust vs the other. Also take a look at which company has designed and built all their reels on the same platform, as to show you what is a tried and trusted design. Thats all Im saying
