  1. I use the nylon mesh ones from BPS, they are pretty tough. I agree about the soft ones.
  2. All my rods are 7' so they work for me with some room still to go. I didnt know you were fishing with a flag pole, lol.
  3. Looks like Shimano is still alive and kicking. So much for the down talk, LOL.Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, glad to see everyone is enjoying these fine reels. I know I do!
  4. Check Bass Pro rod covers. They are going on sale for Labor Day.
  5. I use a Curado 50E and 12# YoZuri for anything from real light plastics and other baits, to big crank baits and topwater plugs. It depends on the reel and rod setup, and how light the baits are. If they are real real light, you might be in the UL territory, and you need a certain setup for that.
  6. I got a chub reading that, lol.
  7. I didnt think that stuff was going to be good. They need to stick to braid.
  8. YoZuri. Never failed me yet. Just took my Curado 50E to Maine and fished it up there. 12# line, had no problems pulling Bass out of the pads up there. This stuff is tough!
  9. 7 for Jigs and Frogs in heavy cover. 6 for swimming and all around.
  10. Im fishing it, but with my FF Tourney partner.
  11. Soft plastic frogs and spooks. Run them at the edge. The fish will be using the high water on the banks of the canals to search for food. Good luck, I will be out getting them as well. Snakeheads should be out and about.
  12. Veritas is great. I will be obtaining one in the future. Also look into the Vendetta, its strong as hell. The M is like a MH. I use a Curado 50E with 12# YoZuri on one, and it can handle just about anything.
  13. Power Pro and Suffix are great lines. I personally use 65# Spiderwire Stealth due to the strength and diameter #'s for my frog rod.
  14. Try YoZuri 12#, some KVD L&L, and patience. The YoZuri is cheap, and very strong. I like it, and its manageable.
  15. I have one, but I like the Booyah Padcrushers better.
  16. I would go M for cranking and spinning, and MH for soft plastics and jigs. Anything around 6'6 to 7' will do.
  17. The best way I learned was to cast where you want it, then close your eyes as you retrieve it. Feel with your hands, and see with your hands. A good rod helps too, but even a $50 Lightning rod is great sensitivity, so dont worry about $100+ rods.
  18. Had a good morning this morning landed 4 nice LGM, the biggest an easy 4#'s. Had a Pickerel on, but it cut my line right as it got to the boat. Been crushing them with the frog.
  19. Abu Vendetta M 7'. Its got the backbone to handle just about anything.
  20. Up here on Unity Pond. Compared to S Fl, these fish are finicky. Last night I found some fish around 1830. They would hit the frog and go nuts on the line. This morning I got out on the water around 0530, and these fish were like stoners. Hitting for the lure about a second too late, or 6 inches behind. I even tried slowing the bait down, they still missed. It made me laugh how they reacted in the morning. I do have to say, it is quite beautiful in the morning here.
