  1. Unfortunatly Shimanos $30 deal has passed, and they dont have to make good deals due to their product following. I know there is a Chronarch for sale on the market thread. You might want to jump on it if still available. Otherwise, its gonna be on ebay, or just fork up the money. All I can say is that the reel is worth the money in the long run for dependabiity and lonhevity.
  2. I would just get a Chronarch and be done with it. Seriously, I would go for the Abu, I think they are more solid. The new S is pretty impressive looking compared to the old one. Im sure mechanically they are just as bomb proof.
  3. Funny, Ive had a bag of these since December that my mother in law bought me. They are.watermelon red, and I rig it texas style, and they produce pretty good for when there is a slow bite in still conditions.
  4. When I was young I used to go fishing with my Dad and my Uncle. I never really caught anything with them. At the time I was around 6. I would tinker around with some different things every now and then. When I reached the ages of 10-12 I would watch fishing shows every Sunday morning, because I was the only kid that was up at 6am on a Sunday. Watching Roland Martin, Orlando Wilson, and Bill Dance got me itching every Sunday to fish. I would catch one here and there. After some days of getting skunked, I decided it was time for a change. I saved up all my money and bought a new rig and some new tackle. A new Shimano CU-200B Bantam Curado, and a new attitude on fishing. For some reason I caught more fish, whether it was the reel of tackle, it just gave me a new sense of confidence. Since then, it has all made sense to me. Watching some of these guys on TV has helped me to understand fishing, and reading Bass Master and North American Fishing. Talking to fellow anglers also helps. Once you hook them, you are hooked!
  5. I just came back from Maine and was killing them shallow in the lilly pads with a black soft plastic frog on the surface.
  6. Was fishing this morning, and got to a spot where I had to go through some wooded area to get to the rest of the canal. Between the amount of banana spiders and mosquitos that attacked us, we just went to another canal. I was thinking of this post as the quarter sized mosquitos were swarming us, lol.
  7. Medium Fast action rod. 6._ reel. You could even drop to a 5._ , but that might be too low for some baits.
  8. Anybody want to get together around October 4-6? I will be up around Lake Murray, in Lexington for a wedding. Got a few days free. Bass Ninja said its some good fishing up there and I cant wait.
  9. Shimano is proof that you dont need 20 bearings in a reel for it to be smooth.
  10. Oil spool bearings monthly. Breakdown and clean reels annually.
  11. Ultralights are fun to just cut the norm. I have an old Shimano Spirex 500 from like 93 that still gets a lot of use. Love to just throw a Rooster Tail and reel in Bream on just about every cast.
  12. Gambler EZ swimmers in Bright Copper and Florida Five O. Also, some BPS Humping toads in Black Magic. Just came back from Maine and crushed them with the BPS frogs.
  13. Yes. I wont put my line in the water until all my calculations are done, and chemicals are added to correct whatever problem there may be..........But seriously, no.
  14. Nah. As long as the spool is laid flat. The twist will be minimal, and most likely come out during use.
  15. A lot of the times that a backlash happens in the beginning of the cast in my opinion, is due to trying to chuck the bait too hard. Take thw advise to tune the reel setup properly, and you should be able to cast smooth and get proper distance.
  16. 6'6 Berkley Lightning Shock, Citica G6, 17# mono. Spooks.
  17. I do mine once a year, every January. All 8 of them.
  18. I think so. They are quiet. I like them.
  19. Im a righty, and if I take a spinning reel and put the handle on the right side I feel like Ive never fished before, its just unnatural to me. That being said, I am able to use a LH baitcaster, but not as easily as I can a RH. My wifes uncle is righthanded, and he uses LH baitcaster. I would say its what feels better for you.
  20. Orange Seals are amazing. Have them in the Citica E I bought, and they are the ****!
  21. Gambler Jig and Ugly Otter trail.
