  1. I like the baseball bat reference, nice!
  2. why? Less friction metal to metal, less wear. Also, dont see any gain to run them dry.
  3. No. Only the new G is in different ratios. The E is just a 6._.
  4. Eh, grow a pair and use some muscle!
  5. If its the way you have to tighten the grip to lock the reel down, than you have got that right about it being an iffy design. I had a Clarus that I had to send back to Shimano because I had to keep tightening it down, and so the front peice came unglued and broke. They gave me another one free of charge and shipping, but then the tip broke after 3 days use on a small 2.5lb bass. I have never had problems with Abu rods, so Im going to stick to them since they use the front piece to tighten them (as well as the Sellus). If I have a problem with the Sellus" I will replace them with Abus. As far as the reels go, I think the new ones are every bit as good as the previous models.
  6. I fish my frogs texas rigged with the curve of the hook on the belly side. Sometimes the frog will land and when I start reeling along the top of the water, I notice a slight difference in the way the legs kick. This is due to the frog being upside-down. Sometimes I will leave it, or I will let the frog go slightly under, and then continue bringing the frog back to the surface, it will correct itself. You may want to try using a hook that has the weight on the curved part, that may help to keep the belly down.
  7. I personally dont like the reel seat design of the new rods. I have a few Sellus', but the reel hold design is better for me. The Sellus is a great rod, have had no problems hauling fish out of tough situations. Personally, I would spend money on Abu rods, and use Shimano reels.
  8. The best in my opinion is the E models. I have both the E and G, and they are both good. The CI and D are bigger than the E and G's.
  9. Stick to the Chronarch. It will stay with you forever.
  10. If he buys the Chronarch, there will be question of how long, that would be no worry
  11. I fish the BPS Humpin Toad, but I use a 5/0 EWG Magna hook, and never had a problem. Texas style rigging.
  12. You think a bass will care if the crawfish has 1 or 2 claws? Fish it until its fubr'd
  13. Are you fishing them under water?
  14. If its in front of them, they will eat it.
  15. The wag the line gets wrapped on the spool is different, and casters have an obviously smaller spool. For what you are describing, 50# braid is not the proper line. Braid that heavy is for fishing frogs, jigs, and swimbaits, etc, that are going to be fished in heavy cover. You might be better off with a line like YoZuri, maybe in the 12-15# range. I have no fear fishing that line in moderatly heavy cover, that stuff is strong.
  16. Where ya going out of? Any tips?
  17. Hey, send those bad ones to me, Ill fix em! I wont even charge you for taking them off your hands, but you wont get them back,
  18. If your using a baitcaster, I wouldnt go any smaller than 40#. Otherwise its going to dig into itself real bad on every hookset.
  19. Gambler Mega Daddy. Zoom Speed Craws for my small jigs.
  20. Where are you throwing frogs? If its heavy cover, your gonna need something thats too far off from throwing a spinner or fluke. For a good all around rod, try the Abu Veritas MH. Im currently looking to buy a Falcon Bucoo MH, also a good rod from what Ive heard.
  21. Might be just getting cut easily. You have to remember, braid, especially thin braid, is easily abrased. Think about it, how easy is it to cut with a knife, but you cant pull it to break it. Just a thought for you.
  22. Thats an easy question, Chronarch E.
  23. I use less line with the palomar than any knot, just have to know how to work the knot as you tighten it down. I dont need to even cut the tag line, I just synge the end with a lighter so there is no frey.
