  1. looks like a normal largemouth. bass in thick weeds look different than bass in open water.. bass in clear water look different than bass in murky water. bass in a dark bottomed bay look different than bass in clear rocky deep water. fish of all kinds are able to change their appearance to better blend in to their surroundings.
  2. threadfin and gizzard shad. some spottail and golden shiners along with bluegill but most of the year the bass will be on shad
  3. people have been putting bell sinkers on the front of ewg hooks for years now for punching it just doesn't get talked about much
  4. i live in central pennsylvania.. the bass seem to be hanging out around the spawning areas but few if any are actually on beds as of today april 1st. the length of daylight and moon phase seem to play a big factor in when they actually begin the act of spawning , at least in my region of the country
  5. buy black wire ties you can't even tell they are there from more than 5 or 6 ft away
  6. the jeep cherokee is actually a great tow vehicle considering its size.. get a cheap tranny cooler and your in business i've went all over the northeast with an old beat to he** 95 cherokee and she is still going strong.. i can go 70 on the highway with a 20ft boat on the back. just keep high end brake pads on it for stopping power
  7. i've towed a 20 ft bass boat with a 200 hanging on the back with a 1995 jeep cherokee with a 4.0 for over 8 years. the jeep has the original 5 speed tranny and the original clutch and the vehicle has 179,000 miles. some people dont need a huge truck to feel manly. as my wife likes to say " men who have huge trucks to tow small things must be making up for lacking in other departmens" granted a full size pickup with have better braking and faster acceleration but we're not all sitting there with 35 grand in the bank for a truck
  8. they make this putty stuff you can buy at hardware stores, probably walmart also, its black on the outside and grey on the inside comes in a tube you kneed it together for a while then it hardens kinda like plaster.. it sets up underwater and can be sanded down pretty easy.. its what i always use on my boat and works great.. costs about 8 bucks for a tube of it.
  9. anyone have a hydra sports bass boat? just purchased one its a 1995 17 ft 6 in with an evinrude 150hp. any opinions on these boats?>
  10. take it to maaco . they will paint it for 400 bucks. just ask for a double layer of clear coat.
  11. has anyone owned or used a hydra sports bass boat in the past? I just purchased one today and i'm wondering if i made a good decision or not
  12. has anyone bought one of the new tec spec elites from dicks yet? the original tec specs were one of the best sub 80 dollar rods on the market i'm wondering if anyone has tryed the new tec spec elites yet and if so what they think of it
  13. the ollies in burnham pa has tons of tackle and every bit of it costs more than it would at the original store... the $1.00 spinnerbaits and buzzbaits from walmart are at ollies and they want 2.99... they have been a buck for the past 5 years at walmart lol.... also they have stren 100 percent flouro.. at walmart brand new the line is ten bucks ollies is asking 15.99. the prices for fishing tackle at the burnham pa ollies is just insane i hope its just a local store with a clueless manager and not the entire company of ollies trying to rip folks off
  14. they are probably golden shiners
  15. thanks, hoping to go again tomorrow
  16. there are pickeral all over the lakes in central pa you can't go bass fishing without catching some pickeral, some lakes have more pickeral than bass in my area
  17. caught 3 largemouth and 1 smallie at raystown today
  18. they do this at just about every trollling motor only lake we have in pennsylvania also. Its been my experience that each pile seems to only have one or two bass on it.
  19. ok let me know when your interested
  20. does anyone on here live close enough to raystown lake that they know to the week when all the ice is gone?
  21. i've always thought the same thing i hate seeing that.. although i do also agree with the alabama rig being banned
  22. if your fishing a smaller lake.. or a small bay in a big lake... a manns hardnose toad rigged on a weighted swimbait hook and dragged slow on the bottom works great.. 4 of my 5 biggest largemouth ever were caught in very early spring on this..... frogs spend winter buried in the mud and they dont' just go straight to the surface and swim around like all the floating frog lures they actually swim accross the bottom the manns hardnose toad dragged on the bottom is the most realistic frog imitation out there that i've been able to find
  23. i use them on scrounger heads with great success
  24. okeechobee is not a deep enough lake to have suspending fish behaving the way that makes them likely to want the alabama rig. schooling bass and suspended schooling bass begave differently. . therefore my point stands and i owe you no apology. do you due research before arguing. buzzbaits, flipping, chatterbaits and sight fishing are one lure techniques. not five lure techniques that is the HUGE difference between this and all other techniques.
