what state are you from Bluebasser.... you do have a $15 rapala scale so don't take that as gospel I had a scale that was off by over 2lbs before.

a 24" fish in a lake full of tilapia in Texas, Cali or in Florida would be a 9lber but certainly not a northern fish. Not dissing you at all that is a true giant for a northern state bass. You are in Minnesota and as far as northern waters go your in a hotbed. That being said there is a photo for all of us to see and if you think that weighs 8lbs then I've got a bridge to sell you. All you need to do is look at the photos in the back of a bassmaster magazine and you will see what a 10lber looks like compared to what you guys seem to think an 8lber looks like. I'm not trying to be rude just honest. When I was younger I used to think I was catching 5's all the time, now that I'm older and more experienced I realize most of them were 3's.

You certainly go the "hold the fish away from your body so it looks bigger in photo's" thing down but that doesn't mean your fish weigh more.

no offense but that fish isn't even 5.5 lbs let alone 8. a 23.5" fish that weighed 8lbs had to be so full of eggs it was about to burst.

If there is any technique that a 50 dollar rod is just as good as a 400 dollar rod its froggin. sensitivity means absolutely nothing when throwing a frog so if your on a budget your frog rod is the best place to save money. in my opinion of course i'm sure someone will disagree. as long as the rod has the backbone to rip them out of heavy cover and the guides are good enough they won't groove from heavy braid and the rod is light enough in your hand to be comfortable throwing all day then your set. I've been using a 7ft medium heavy abu vendetta for the past four years. Some guys say use a big 7ft 6in heavy rod but I like the 7MH for froggin. The frog man himself Dean Rojas uses a 7ft medium heavy rod for froggin so how can you argue with the best?

ten years ago a good chunk of the pro's who fish for a living were using vanish on their spinning reels before there were lots of high dollar japanese flouro's that handle much like mono. It's not the best line out there but its plenty good enough. I would say seaguar red label is the best cheap flouro there is but vanish is not too bad. Much better than the stren flourocarbon and about the same as the xps flouro, it may actually be the exact same thing as xps flouro because neither company actually makes the flourocarbon themselves they sub-contract out to one of the Five flourocarbon extruders that are in operation so many of the lower dollar flouro's people like to compare are actually identical in every way except packaging. From what I understand(it was in the most recent ABA magazine and i've been told by others) Seaguar is the only line company that manufactures their own flourocarbon line in house. Most of the people you hear bashing vanish are folks who normally use monofilament and they don't understand flourocarbon is a totally different ballgame and they think because it isn't limp like their mono that its no good.

hardly any lakes get stocked with bass.. unless they were drained and refilled or some unique situation like that. maybe one out of every 300 "bass" lakes actually requires stocking

He's running a Nitro because it was free. He won a PAA tournament late last year and first place was a new Nitro. And he was never a HUGE ranger guy in fact he has never even owned a NEW ranger boat. the ranger he was using last year was five years old. in the late 90's through early 2000's before he was a full time pro he won some BFL's out of an aluminum bass tracker that was over ten years old. He's never had a boat sponsor and he's never been one of the ego driven guys who spend their last dime to look the part of "bass pro" and go in debt every year to look like he has a boat sponsor.

brandon card did the same thing as john cox . card did it on the sabine river cox did it on the red river. both went through a pipe to get to a small backwater lake. card's was just a few weeks ago though

It is a good bait. More of a warm water jerkbait because of its erratic action. Smallmouth seem to love them a lot more than the largemouth do.

You did not answer my question. So I'll assume the answer is no. To answer your question. Yes, I only have 3 of them but yes I do have some and have caught dozens of fish with them. No doubt they are one of the all time great jerkbaits but in my opinion the main difference is they are always good where as maybe 3 out of 5 RC stks are good. I'm not here to start a p*ssing contest I'm just saying if you have used one of the recently made RC stks and not one of the first runs of them I find it extremely hard to believe you would notice any difference at all.

So let me ask you this. When is the last time you used an RC stk. Most of the people criticizing them have never had one tied on. Watch the bassmasters classic and look closely at the "megabass" jerkbaits everyone has tied on, Those guys make a living fishing and its about a 60/40 split megasbass to rc stk on their rods.

The early runs of them were variable I'll give you that. The first 5 I bought were all junk. The past 3 or 4 I have bought are great. As to the split ring problem being fixed, I don't think so. The newest ones I have suspend perfect and have great action but i can take a pair of pliers and pull the hooks right off and straighten the split rings with no problem at all. they may be stronger than the original split rings they put on them but they are still nowhere near what a normal quality bait comes with.

I was up last weekend. the air was 60 but the water was still cold. The launch was still frozen at snyders run so we had to launch at 7points. the water was only 42. but my boat wouldn't steer so I wasn't out very long though so I only know the water temp right near 7 points. can't see it being much different now since its been in the 30's all week and snowing.

been using a 40 dollar frog toggs suit for 3 years now and it works fine for me.

If you want a megabass jerkbait but don't want to spend 25 bucks buy a luck-e-strike RC stk. its the exact same thing except it has cheap weak split rings and crappy hooks. put new split rings and hooks on it and you have yourself a 25 dollar jerkbait. Someone with more money than brains will probably chime in and say how megasbass is so much better but they are not.

No I'm not a member of a club, I just really don't want to attend meetings and be expected to show up every week I work too many hours for that but at the same time I'm in 5 BFL's this year and i really don't want those to be the only tournaments I fish. I'm going to do some of those fishing4five tournaments at Raystown and maybe some Jims anchorage tournaments but other than that i didn't really know about anything else happening in PA

you aren't catching skinny fish. you're actually weighing your fish. J Zajcko or however its spelled is not weighing his fish.. maybe in his mind he is picturing himself weighing fish of that size but not in reality. JZ, if the fish are real show us pics.

Does anyone know of any bass tournaments in the central PA region. I know about the Jims Anchorage tournaments at Raystown and the solo fishing4five tournaments at Raystown. Anyone know of any at Sayers(Howard), or Wallenpaupak, or any other lakes that allow unlimited horsepower?

works awesome when fish are ganging up on a school of alewives, I assume equally effective when shad or blueback herring are the forage. if you see a school of fish busting baitfish on the surface this is one of the best things to throw at them.

Without a picture there was no fish. Did you guys see the 20 pounder I caught last week? I dont have a picture but trust me it was almost a world record. 20 lbers aren't rare. just cause we don't see them doesn't mean they aren't there, just like those bass at bass pro shops! ahhahahahahahahha
