  1. a bass can not swallow a blade off of a spinnerbait, a bass can swallow a swimbait off of an alabama rig without a hook and that is a death sentence for the fish.
  2. the only argument you need is that it is five lures not one.. how can you be so close minded to not see that. flipping =one lure chatterbait=one lure sight fishing=one lure not real sure how you could possibly not see the difference.
  3. if someone try's to buy a fish.. someone who already has had rumors of cheating in the past... then he should be turned in.. there are too many guys going crazy in debt trying to make it to allow some rich punk to be using his fathers money to cheat his way to the top.
  4. palanuik and iaconnelli have won major tourneys on the red river. if kvd wins again on a body of water that is certainly not his wheelhouse then any doubt there still is as to him being the greatest angler of all time is gone.. all doubt is already gone for most though
  5. just wanted to say 4 years old is not that outdated. world of outlaws late model races were won this year in a 2007 rocket.. actually several races. also a local driver in central pa wins quite often in a 2001 bullit chassis..
  6. because in all of these tournaments bass are not suspended feeding exclusively on baitfish. thats the only reason they weren't used.
  7. it is not at all a lure that has an application like any other...... it is 5 lures not one how is that ethical for a tournament fisherman to use. go to a lake that has suspending bass feeding on shad or alewives and tell me you can't catch ten times more fish with this than anything else. if you say its just like any lure your either crazy, lying, or have never used it in the right sitiuation. your not an elite series angler so go ahead and keep using it
  8. i sometimes put them on a darter head hop them real slow off the bottom in rocky/gravely areas
  9. there are some really big bass in black mo.. i've caught 3 over 5lbs in the past 2 years.. but there aren't a lot of bass.... it does have tons of pickeral and the occasional small pike. in real early spring you can hammer the pickeral on a small buzzbait, sometime its almost every cast if you get the timing right, before the lilly pads get too thick.
  10. i've been out in the chesapeake bay a few times in an 18ft bass boat and on a decently calm day your just fine.. i've even seen smaller aluminum boats out setting crab traps. just be aware of the weather
  11. if your positive then i believe you i'm just telling you there are store employee's at dicks telling customers they are the same blanks used in the cheaper kvd rods so they are basically just telling lies to sell a product then. i too own stock in jarden and work for them . sorry to argue really.. but in all honesty i did not argue with anyone before you accused me of arguing and acted as if you were the only one who knows anything about the fishing industry.
  12. you are correct... and also at the same time basically agreed with me although for your sake i hope you feel vindicated and intelligent by your more informative argument that was obviously your goal to be-little someone else for your own glory............, the blanks come from the same place quantum and tec spec... if you research it there are other rods of different brands that are built upon the exact same blank yet far apart in price. ... most rods use fuji reel seats and handles . regardless of what labels are on them many things come from the same plant. i was a maintenance man at a plastic bag plant and saw first hand that the generic grocery store bags are sometimes identical in chemical make-up and quality to hefty bags double the price they just stuck them in a different box... its common practice in every industry... there are also only 9 flourocarbon extruders in the world currently yet there are 100's of brands and versions of flourocarbon line, many of them the exact same but in different boxes. same with razors and various other things. by the way pure fishing is actually owned by a larger company that manufactures everything from plastic spoons and forks to medical products.
  13. throw in some smoke colored grubs and thats every lure i owned till i was about 16 or 17 and i caught plenty of smallies on just those few lures
  14. also don't get discouraged if you arent catching fish the first few times you try it it took me quite a few trips to get the hang of it.. the less action you give the lure the better in most situations, that was the hardest part for me to learn i have trouble being still while i'm sitting on the couch let alone keeping my hands still while fishing... just think about it like this, the waves on the surface of the water are moving as much as your little lure is on your line and that is plenty of action its not natural for something to be sitting there bouncing like crazy while its sitting in one spot.
  15. the best time is anytime if your fun fishing.. good for tournaments if you just need a few bites and the fishing is tough, not always a very fast way to fish. if the water is fairly murky use a bigger lure that will put off some vibrations. a 7 inch berkley power worm is a lure i would reccomend if you want to drop shot in dirty water but small natural looking worms and minnow immitations are common in clear water
  16. since your the expert would you care to tell us who makes them then. all other feild and stream rods are made by quantum that is a fact . i'm just stating what a store employee told me.. and if you pick up one of the kvd signature series rods they feel about the same and seem like if they didn't say kvd on them they'd cost about 50 bucks not 80 or 90..... and what exactly do you mean "argue all you want" i wasn't arguing with anyone i'm not sure how you could read what i said and take it as arguing.. i guess some people just look for conflict anywhere they can find it... i'm serious if you know who makes the tec spec then tell us just don't be a jerk for no reason
  17. why is it that everyone fishes with the handle on the left using a spinning rod and the right on a baitcaster.. yes i understand most cheap reels are only made for right handers but thats not really the case now-a-days.. you can't set the hook as hard with the rod in your left hand if you are right handed. you don't have as much control over the reel using your right hand to reel if your a right hander.. so why is this. its everywhere even the pro's think they are ambidextrious. i just dont get it.
  18. bassnbrett when are you going on tour with the elite series? ............... i challenge you to a raystown fish off you can use your jerkbaits and i will use a drop shot... i'll even use the same type and color of worm the whole time. ........................ and for anyone else who likes to drop shot and wants to fish raystown... find manmade brush piles that are near the thermocline in the summertime. i've even caught 10lb stripers on 4 inch roboworms .
  19. sorrry i didnt see your post right away but wayne p said the same thing i was going to tell you.. the cheapest down imaging units are far better than anything that isn't down imaging it just takes a little longer to learn to use them
  20. you will be the only boat there with less than 175 hp.. and if its not on a river you'll be the only aluminum boat.. not being rude i'm just telling you the truth... i've been a co-angler a few times and its completly luck of the draw there are some great fishermen there and some who are there only because they have the money and the time so it depends who you draw.. in my opinion don't enter as a co-angler if you wish to do well because it depends almost totally on which pro you draw each day.
  21. true but they are eating them nonetheless
  22. flw bass fishing league has tourneys in ohio.. 5 of them if i'm correct. also b.a.s.s. weekend series has some events in ohio....
  23. theres a lake in central pa that has smalies.. yellow perch. rainbow smelt. and bluegill.. they also stock fingerligh brown trout, no other fish in the lake......... during the late pre spawn, spawn, and early post spawn i see the smallies attacking young bluegill very often.. not their major forage for most of the year but certainly they will eat them when they are in the same areas
  24. i agree with most everyone else.. something medium light action for live bait.. i prefer a 6'6" myself but the only place i use livebait is a river so casting distance isn't that big of a deal
  25. bass pro shops walleye jig heads.. they are kinda wide and flat on the bottom ... if your fishing somewhere with gobies i havent found anything better for making the tube take on the shape of a gobie
