I do it Catts way due to fuzzy end of Braided knot And the loss of line from deep water snags. The shorter top layer exposes the splice knot more & more. So I carefully put the knot at the edge of the spool back lip. Then that gets too exposed. Big spender does a respooling of the 4# or 6# line on top.

I am a user of the legs & plastic inserts of the guide nearest to the reel for bigger trebles. Mepps get hooked right to the reel Bail Arm. Never had a loose insert happen.

50 years ago fly roders had a lot of1/4" to about 3/8" cork & Balsa poppers with tail feathers. They were excellent on anything that saw them. I was using 4X tapered leaders With very fast / stiff actions. The hooks had large barbs that hampered setting the hook quickly. With longer float casts in big rivers & lakes.

I installed a 8 circuit black Bakelite fuse strip under my flip up side console. All circuits are fused right there. All wiring is # 14 Ga. Have 2 spare circuits with spare fuses. More in Plano box. Have never had a fuse blow. Just motor Horn & lights & a F F.

I would not recommend doing sparkplug changes with a HOT , just stopped engine.. Hot Aluminum strips the threads a LITTLE easier. I bough 4 more NGK plugs that are 1 heat range hotter than normal. Lady Tech person said said 2 steps hotter can do slow damage if run WOT too much time.. Happy with no oil on plug threads. Have run & marked 4 of the 6 plugs. I run 50 to 1 oil mixture in the main tank. 100 to 1 in the 5 gallon TROLLING tank. ONLY !! Quick connect plugs make it simple. Will check out what the SCUBA guys are seeing in the area.

Today was a total 6 hour day at all the yearly places. No fish of any type except the 2 huge SMB I caught 2 days ago. Both bumped the lure. That was the total day. That filmy green slime is doing great. All the rocks are bare. No Zebra clumps on any of them. It my be sewage to some people. But it is the sole food for weeds that have supported life here forever. No dead fish are present or has been reported to the EPA.

NEVER ! Went ALL day with NO FISH of any type or size.....Also 53 surface temperature with no weeds sending shoots out . Just twisted black dead stalks. I do impulse things when there are no fish available. Useless boat rides do nothing for a Catch & Release guy. More dinners out with Gin & Tonic !! I like the fiber in Limes.

I used to get lots of side & head grabs. + 20 years ago. Now almost every grab is a tail grabber. The fish have a blind spot with their laterial sensor line. NO GREAT REAR sensing. So rear ambushing is effective. The C & R of us have taught that side attacks can be more hooks if not food. I give fish credit to learn how to do safer attacks. critical things can be permnantly istalled in a animals genetics with enough times. Some call it instinct. Most important DEATH SIGN ? 1 STUPID cormorant in a normally crowded area. The central sewage along the USA side & Bass contests are doing a fantastic job on local fishes. I am not even sure if it is worth fishing my area. Might go 2 miles to big island in the main river.

I did not know that all Evinrude E TEC motors must have all plugs indexed to face the fuel injectors...........Probably due to super lean fuel mixtures of F I engines. Read long ago. Some new engine will NOT EVEN START if plugs are not indexed........... That will drive DIY guys to a dealer for sure if they pull the plugs. Then it barely starts with new plugs. Above a fast idle indexing does almost nothing.

I retie after ALL strong fish when using 4 or 6 pound test. Also any snags.

I have had 1 bass get hooked on my lure WITH A FISH in his throat. Odd. No way to swallow any more.

I sometimes only wrap it 3 times. Old brain. The 1/2 hitch is now part of my Triline knot tying . I could forget the 1/2 hitch. Has happened.

Fuse or a burned open wire. Plus or Minus . No motor crank or TILT..

I use the Trilene Knot with a 1/2 hitch PULLED into the Trilene Knot to LOCK the knot. It can never untie. The harder the tension of the line. The tighter the 1/2 hitch is pulled against the Trilene.

DO NO T PULL out any part of a eaten fish still inside of a fish throat. The different spines may get pulled wide open and lock the body in there. Big fish starves to death with that spine jammed fish right where it is. I did that to a nice fish . I could not push or pull the 1/2 eaten fish either way.. I murdered that nice bass.

Buy a small good used gas motor to power the boat when the trolling motors are off.

I do not watch any bass contests that drive around with loads of bass all day in a tank. Then dump each days total catch into the same places............ God bless the Fish & Game officials for protecting our fish.

D I Y is very satisfying. You KNOW the workmanship is up to what you wanted. I find it that way also. I have bought brand new boats with several errors. Whenever I took the boat out of storage All the errors would flash like a quick billboard. Enjoy it.

It makes a massive difference in 2 stroke motors with hand mixing of gas and oil. I can now troll all day at the slowest & smoothest speeds in gear. Plug white insulator is CLEAN with no burnt oil or wetness.

Many other countries do not BURN corn crops in gasoline powered vehicles. Why does the USA ? Somebody has to pay off ALL the HUGE Wall Street Ethanol Bonds that were sold to increase profits for corn farmers........... Which crop would you raise ? Eating corn ? Or much higher profit making Ethanol Corn ?

Big Females in each area . I caught & released 2 well over 5 pound females. Almost no perch or other fish in a 1 mile area. Should be hundreds. This area is close to the Bass Contest dumping / release area.

I am old guy. I usea engine cleaning additive. Cars, boats.. Seafoam It does remove varnish & carbon in all engines. About 1 time each month. Bottle into the gas tank at fill up. My mileage jumps up about 25% .
