  1. Its fair to say that im the only kid at my highschool who fishes bass tournaments However, I will be fishing next year for the RIT collegiate bass club which has a handful of members.
  2. It will work, but you may loose some of the rods flex... Its a pretty easy repair, just need some thread (braided fishing line will work), epoxy, and a new guide of similar size.
  3. Pretty sure he was refering to "wickedreelz.com"
  4. First, let me say that i adore my parents and understand that they've made me who i am. However, my parents waited until their forties to have me and my sister (im 17, my dad is 63). Simply put, its been pretty hard on me to not be able to do the things with my father that all my friends can do. For instance, i play baseball and when i was younger, my dad was the coach and could do most everything. But as hes gotten older + medical issues, hes realy slowing down and its been rough on me seeing him declining. It is also a little harder having serious conversations with my parents as times have changed so much from their generation to mine (dad graduated highschool in the 60s, i will in 2012). On the contrary, the advantage is that my parents are so much more mature/wise and have a greater understanding of life that i can appreciate and learn from. Although the physical aspect has dwindled, the metal and emotional aspects have truly been a great teaching tool. After writing this, Im not sure that i'd want younger parents. Absolutely there are times i wish that i did, but i think that i've been able to mature alot faster than my peers due to older parents...
  5. Out of habit, i retie everything the night before fishing. This includes lures AND new leaders. I doubt it has much difference except if you've had something lying around so much that the line starts to break down.
  6. Makes sense. On a full spool of line, more line will be coming off the spool per revolution than with a lesser amount of line. Therefore, the spool with less line will have to spin faster and more times to send off the same amount of line as the fully packed spool of line. I hope that made sense, i can picture it but cant quite put it in words...
  7. Interestingly, i did a study in my Physics class and i came to the same conclusion. I actually had multiple trials in which 20 lb red label broke with only 15 lbs hanging from it, while all of the other 20 lb lines were completely fine.
  8. The wiley-X shades are pretty nice, the facial cavity is a nice feature when running down the lake. However, after buying EXPENSIVE costa 580G shades, i dont think i could ever go back. The only good thing about them being so expensive is it sort of forces you to be extra cautious and gentle with them, and therefore they last much longer
  9. Hmm, i have just the opposite thought. I've found that bigger fish will steal the claws and not take the whole thing (maybe they are cautious, smarter, who knows...). On the contrary, smaller fish seem to be more aggressive and eat the whole thing. On a side note, i've recently downsized my jig trailers so that the claws are very close to and/or are in the skirt so the fish would have a hard time eating just the claws. I've noticed a decent increase in hookups and size.
  10. doesnt look as if Drogba will be returning to Chelsea however
  11. Yeah thanks! I will be going for marketing with the intention of getting my MBA.
  12. Nope. In fact, i think they reduce stress levels at the end of the day as you dont have to fish your bass out of the livewell with them jumping and splashing everywhere.
  13. I work full time over the summers at the college im going to next year (RIT). I work in facilities, helping maintain big air handlers and such. As well, i've hopefully got a job lined up at Gander mtn when i turn 18 next month
  14. I have always found that as you get later into the day and the sun comes up high in the sky, the bass relate closer and closer to structure. It may be as simple as flipping that jig closer to the stump or into the prime area of that weedbed that your partner is doing but you are not.
  15. Stained water dock fishing = a blue/black jig skipped under the docks into the darkest areas.
  16. I'd be afraid that a nail polish paint job would throw off the action due to the added weight. Leave it!
  17. Most bass boats will pull a tube or skier no problem, they just lack alot of seating. A fish and ski model would be better for seating, you just lose a back fishing deck.
  18. sssshhhhhhhhh!!!! Dont tell anyone.... Please, im begging
  19. Denny Brauer. Best shallow fisherman around
  20. I use a powell max 6'8" meduim heavy spinning rod for most weightless skipping applications. For skipping jigs and t-rigs i use a powell endurance 6'7" heavy baitcast rod. This also doubles quite nicely as a spinnerbait rod.
  21. I throw mine wacky on a 1/32 to 1/16 oz Owner wacky jig head. They are also a good alternative to skipping a senko, especially when fish are suspended right under the docks because you get a very slow fall if rigged wacky weightless.
  22. I made my own and they work realy well. I bought the X-tools culling system and pulled off the clips, leaving just the buoy and arm. I then went and bought a metal stringer (maybe $3) and pulled the actual clips off the chain. I then attached these clips to the x tools buoy arms (you can use any floatation buoy you want). I sharpened the clips up so now if i catch a fish, i open the sharpened clip and push it through the bottom jaw and re-close them. Now its secure and wont come undone all day.
  23. Another vote for the green mirror 580 G. They are simply amazing
  24. I prefer to flip a 4" black and blue tube with a 3/8 bullet weight and a 4/0 or 5/0 superline EWG hook around cover. I fish it just like any other texas rig or jig that im flipping.
